On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

“Absorbing . . . In masterly fashion, Flynn depicts the unraveling of a marriage—and of a recession-hit Midwest—by interweaving the wife’s diary entries with the husband’s first-person account.”—New Yorker
“Ms. Flynn writes dark suspense novels that anatomize violence without splashing barrels of blood around the pages . . . Ms. Flynn has much more up her sleeve than a simple missing-person case. As Nick and Amy alternately tell their stories, marriage has never looked so menacing, narrators so unreliable.”—The Wall Street Journal
“The story unfolds in precise and riveting prose . . . even while you know you’re being manipulated, searching for the missing pieces is half the thrill of this wickedly absorbing tale.”—O: The Oprah Magazine

One of my favorite thriller books of all time. I literally couldn’t put it down. These characters are dynamic.
What a thriller and the ending still gives me goosebumps
This is my favorite Gillian Flynn book. Soooo unpredictable and twisted.
I love anti-heroes. Fascinating, twisted and totally original .
Phenomenal. Genre bending.
The Girl anything happened after Gillian Flynn published her novel.
One of my top ten all time favorite novels.
This book kept my interest, but I was disappointed in the quality of the writing. A good beach book.
Most often I dislike popular books. I find mainstrem boring, predictable and without bite or originality. Gillian Flynn is an exception from that. She’s not only talented and has an original approach to the genre, she’s also not writing too many books, not just spraying books out there, now she knows there’s money to be made. I respect that.
Loved the book and the movie
IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE, read this book first. Awesome!!
Gillian Flynn’s book was the beginning of the dual narrators craze. Her book is witty, wicked, and wonderful.
A little intense, but I did enjoy. Was hoping for to see a reconciliation
It is good. Like they say, the bk is better than the movie.
Too many unreliable narrators
I thought the book was a little far fetched for me. I like my books to be a little more realistic. I liked that you couldn’t predict what was going to happen next, but over all it was all too much and unbelievable for my taste.
I wanted to add a new shelf for this book–“Pretty Freaking Amazing,” otherwise titled ‘Books I’d Wish I’d Written ‘Cuz They’re Pretty Freaking Amazing.’ It’s not often I read an author whose metaphors and plot twists and character arcs make my jaw drop in wonder, and not a little bit of author-envy. Gillian Flynn is one of those authors.
If …
The book was well written and I liked it, but the ending made me mad.
Great ride!!!!!
This book is absolutely a good read. There are endless twist and turns. As you read you’ll be asking yourself,”Does anyone really do things like this?”
Keeps you going!
I hated this book. There was nobody in in tht I could admire
