On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

“Absorbing . . . In masterly fashion, Flynn depicts the unraveling of a marriage—and of a recession-hit Midwest—by interweaving the wife’s diary entries with the husband’s first-person account.”—New Yorker
“Ms. Flynn writes dark suspense novels that anatomize violence without splashing barrels of blood around the pages . . . Ms. Flynn has much more up her sleeve than a simple missing-person case. As Nick and Amy alternately tell their stories, marriage has never looked so menacing, narrators so unreliable.”—The Wall Street Journal
“The story unfolds in precise and riveting prose . . . even while you know you’re being manipulated, searching for the missing pieces is half the thrill of this wickedly absorbing tale.”—O: The Oprah Magazine

#1 on my books to read list!
Wow! I read this after my brother recommended it. After the first chapter, I said “really?” And he smiled and said “keep going”. AND THEN the book really started. This book is full of twists and turns and keeps you guessing. How well do you really know people?
This is a book you should read. You will really enjoy this action packed, easy
to read, original book. The characters are very well depicted and the story line
is very interesting. ENJOY!!
I hated the ending
couldn’t stay interested in the characters
Gone Girl had more twists and turns that it kept me on the edge of my seat right up to the end! The writing is compact and concise as Flynn weaves a tale so fantastic, so entertaining and compelling, it keeps you riveted to the end!
This is feminism at its finest. This girl took revenge in the biggest way.
I loved everything about this book EXCEPT the last 100 pages. But I do not want to give away the ending
It needs a sequel. Too disturbing to stand alone. I want to know what happens after!
Liked the book and the movie which followed the book pretty closely. It was rather confusing at first as it is “his story” and then “her story”. I won’t ruin the story by going beyond that, but I am sure you will enjoy it, I did.
Not the best written book I’ve ever read, but really a great story with fabulous, unexpected twists. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
Initially, I asked myself why I continued to read this book because I didn’t like any of the characters but I’m glad I stuck with it because it was an intriguing book.
This was one twisted book! I enjoyed it.
hated the ending. by the end of the book there’s not one likeable character.
It was confusing. The main characters seemed to all be written in the same voice. Didn’t care for it at all.
A classic.
Such a twisted plot, unable to put down.
One of my favorite reads. A psychological thriller with an original twist.
The main characters have so many layers, and there are so many plot turns that this book is a blast to read.
Didn’t really care for it.
