On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

“Absorbing . . . In masterly fashion, Flynn depicts the unraveling of a marriage—and of a recession-hit Midwest—by interweaving the wife’s diary entries with the husband’s first-person account.”—New Yorker
“Ms. Flynn writes dark suspense novels that anatomize violence without splashing barrels of blood around the pages . . . Ms. Flynn has much more up her sleeve than a simple missing-person case. As Nick and Amy alternately tell their stories, marriage has never looked so menacing, narrators so unreliable.”—The Wall Street Journal
“The story unfolds in precise and riveting prose . . . even while you know you’re being manipulated, searching for the missing pieces is half the thrill of this wickedly absorbing tale.”—O: The Oprah Magazine

Enjoyable read!
Gone Girl isn’t like anything I’ve ever read before – and that alone is almost worth the five-star rating I give it – but I loved this book for more than its originality. Most of the characters are despicable, it’s true, but they’re also believable and endlessly fascinating. This story doesn’t exactly have a happy ending, but that, too, is fine by …
I didn’t like this book
Still one of the best books and plot twists ever. Gillian Flynn is such a great writer. I look forward to all her projects on paper and on screen!
One of the best books I have ever read.
Fantastic!! I could not put down this book.
HORRIBLE BOOK. I don’t even know why I finished it. Not a single likeable character in it.
I read this book before all the hype so it was a really surprise. The characters are delightfully twisted which I really like. The book moves at a rapid pace like a roller coaster to the jarring end,
What a read! Didnt see that ending coming!
Great book
I didn’t care for this book at all. Perhaps I expected more since there was so much acclaim over it. I was disappointed and will not read another of Flynn’s books!
Great read!
Hated it
I loved this book. And I love that the author was able to write two unlikeable protagonists and an unhappy ending and get away with it. One of my all time favorites. I did not see the ending coming!
Better than the movie
Just when you thought that you knew what was going to happen, it changed and sent you in a different direction. I couldn’t put it down!
My gosh, you MUST read this book. Had me racing through it, saying, “Whaaaat? I didn’t see that coming.” One of the best books I’ve read in years, and I read all the time.
I’ve read all her work, would not want to be in her head! It’s got to be a terribly scary place.
I saw the plot twist a mile off and I hated the ending!
This book was a real page turner. I couldn’t wait to get to the end but hated it to end. It had a lot of unexpected twists and turns. I would recommend it.
