Lillian Brannon wakes up on Valentine’s Day in an exact replica of her bedroom but the only item that she believes is authentic is her dog, Laude. She is held captive in her kidnapper’s basement apartment, summoned upstairs once a week for a chaste dinner. But will his kindness last, and more importantly, why isn’t anyone looking for her? Lillian’s story is interwoven with that of Nathan, a NYPD … NYPD officer, who is intrigued by Lillian’s disappearance — how can a young woman be gone for two weeks before a Missing Person Report is filed? Local police believe Lillian has voluntarily abandoned a life she didn’t like. Lillian’s best friend convinces Nathan the authorities are wrong. With no jurisdiction, no resources, and no witnesses, he is compelled by the pictures of Lillian with her sweet smile and sparkling green eyes to obsessively take up the case. Armed with Lillian’s keys and personal information, he spends hours, then days in her home trying to find clues that will lead him to her.

I clicked on ‘tragic’ as one of the things I ‘liked’ about this book. It was not tragic in the sense of lots of trauma, but tragic in the sense that there are people who are ‘invisible’ to others and don’t even know it. This story is about a woman who goes missing and no one seems to know it except her best friend who no one believes. The life …
wow. interesting concept[ and a little too realistic since I too live alone with few contacts, a little scary
An awesome mystery tale! I was hooked from the first moment that Lillian woke up in her room that wasn’t her room. How in the world? Who was doing this to her? Why her? So many questions from the first page and on to the end. Apart from the mystery, I loved how the author developed such interesting characters and relationships. Beautifully written …
A story that gives you pause…. If you live alone and went missing…. what then? plot kept developing – very interesting read… Determined hero
I loved this interesting book. I read it in one sitting. I thought the plot was wonderful. I loved the main character’s and how they interacted with each other. I thought the author does a great job of letting you feel the emotions of the character’s. I want to read more from this author and series!
This was a great book and you just did not want to put it down. About normal people problems and how they can end up in danger and yet hardly anyone notices them missing. Very suspenseful with some twists.
With the abrupt ending I got no sense of closure. It was definitely a new twist on the kidnapping theme.
Not a bad read, but the main characters are mostly annoying.
Anyone with a friend like this needs to move far far away.
Plot not at all believable.
Lillian and her puppy, Laude, are kidnapped. But since she has no friends, and no life, and just had a fight with her old college roommate, who will even notice that she is missing. Evidently, no …
It was very interesting. Great characters.
I liked it because I couldn’t figure out who the bad guy was.
What every single woman worries about? Will anyone know I am missing?
Really captured my imagination.
I deemed it original. I would like to think that this wouldn’t happen to someone. To not have anyone to miss you when you’ve disappeared. But, I was caught up in it pretty quickly. Enjoyed.
Very good series with interesting characters.. I had a heck of a time putting all of the books in this series down. Definitely great reading!
A wonderful mix of mystery and romance
So sad what the main character went through. Made me think, do I do the same routine over and over? Probably.
Although I felt it had a slow start, I couldn’t walk away from it. Many of us have had times in our life when this could have happened to us. Scary.
wow, gone and no one missed her? scary thought. So glad Annie and Nathan were looking!
Enjoyed the story very much but I get tired of bad spelling in this age of spellcheckers. Still recommend!
Good story line, (almost believable), with interesting characters, twists and turns.
Wow, what a guy! This is stalking to the nth degree. I’m interested to see where the author can go with this story, I see there are several more books in the series.
