What a delightful breath of fresh air this book turned out to be. I’m reluctant to admit this, but I’ve never read “Thumbelina”, so this is a perfect rendition to me. The world-building was done so well, I felt like I could make the trip with Lina. And then the personalities of all the characters were so well developed it was easy to love or love to hate them. I wish there’d been a little more about Trent but I don’t suppose it was his story. I thoroughly enjoyed this!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I love this retelling of Thumbelina (its called in the netherlands Duimelijntje)
But than a little different.
It hooked me right away at the first chapter a lot and i couldnt put this book down.
I really enjoyed this booK. And will read the rest of the untold tales by Laura Greenwood
This story is a twisted tale about Thumbelina. Lina is homeless and does odd jobs for food. Lina meets Trent who is a fairy. He gives her a butterfly named Flitter to help protect her. This story for me dragged. I had a difficult time enjoying the story. Trent seems to really like Lina but there is no developing romance. It all seems very rushed. “Golden Wings” is the second installment in Laura Greenwood’s “Untold Tales” series. A retelling of Hans Christian Andersen “Thumbelina”, with a modern twist that focuses on Lina (MC) social situation and the injustice in her life. Thumbelina wish for her own wings, works a metaphor to overcome her situation.
“Golden Wings”, is a very good retelling of Thumbelina, a small female (Lina), who everyone believes to be a child due to her tiny size. Lina lives in poverty, fighting day to day to survive as homeless in the city. One day she runs into Trent a Fae that promises her a better life. Unfortunately, that better life has to be put in hold, after she is kidnapped by a woman, who plans to make her his son bride, she eventually manages to flee, but things get from bad to worse before Lina can finally embrace her fate.
The Untold Tales series is a retelling of world-renowned classical fairy tales, that adds a modern twist to the classical tales. Greenwood’s version of the fairy-tale world is funny, entertaining and interesting. A brand-new take on the fairy-tale trope, fresh, original and fun. The stories, which are independent from each other, offer an amazing blend of the original tales and brand-new twist and situations, that will appeal to both fairy-tale lovers and all those looking for a brand-new story that adds layers of narrations and different POVs to the already known situations. Fairy tales, magic, romance, familiars, FMC, adventure, fast-paced plots, credible leads, new turns and twists, what more can one wish for?
This was a quick and easy read. A fairly faithful retelling of Thumbelina, although a little darker. The characters were well developed and complex, the story flowed smoothly and the descriptions were very detailed. If you like fairy tales, or fairytale retellings, you’ll love this story!

Really enjoyed this thrilling dark retelling of a classic fairy tale that had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Action packed, dangerous and heart racing journey that was a highly entertaining read.

A retelling of Thumbelina. Lina has been living on the streets for a long time. She does odd jobs to keep herself feed. One day, things take a turn for her and not for the better. She suffers at the hands of 2 people and is believed to be a fairy of all things!
Never having read the original tale, I enjoyed this story. Lina represents a strong woman. No matter what challenges life throws at her, she remains positive. She uses those experiences as building blocks to keep her alive in the streets. A quick weekend read for all to enjoy.

Golden Wings is a great retelling of Thumbelina with dark twists. Lina is an orphan and lived a rough life on the streets just trying to survive. I loved all the characters she meets including the bad ones because they made this tale that much more interesting. The characters are well developed, the story is captivating and the series is turning out to be one of my favorites by Laura Greenwood.
A fairytale retelling that I soaked right up. It’s short but the story grabs you from the beginning. It has some romance but the main plot is about Lina finding herself and her strength.
Golden Wings is the second book in the Untold Tales series of fairy tale retellings. It is based on Thumbelina. A retelling of this story with its different take on it kept me turning pages. I want to read more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a dark retelling of the Thumbelina fairy tale with a more modern twist to it. I liked it though as it really made me think of the story in a different light. The characters were interesting be they good or bad in nature. I really was rooting for Lina to catch a break that would be good for her and stop her ending up in worse situations like the beginning. It was a fun read that did entertain me even though is was really dark compared to the Disneyized version.
A interesting retake on Thumbelina, Lena the main character gets herself in some bad situations. A quick, fast paced story with a few good twists.

A modern retake on the thumbelina fairy tale. Lina (FMC) is homeless and living a hard life. Until a chance meeting with Trent and her life changes. I loved how smart and strong-willed Lina was even with everything that happens to her. She does seem to jump from one bad situation to another. Kinda loved Flitter even if he didnt talk as such. He was still cute. A sweet read with a few dark bits but a pretty good read though.
I loved Flitter.
This is such an awesome series Laura Greenwood has such a talent it is so impressive. The base for this one it a re-telling of Thumbelina and I found it an exciting read. This one was dangerous and dark and Lina fight in finding who she really is made for an awesome tale. All the characters are wonderful. This is a book I am happy to recommend it was captivating.
