THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERLucas Davenport’s first case as a U.S. Marshal sends him into uncharted territory in the thrilling new novel in the #1 New York Times-bestselling series. The man was smart and he didn’t mind killing people. Welcome to the big leagues, Davenport. Thanks to some very influential people whose lives he saved, Lucas is no longer working for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal … saved, Lucas is no longer working for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, but for the U.S. Marshals Service, and with unusual scope. He gets to pick his own cases, whatever they are, wherever they lead him.
And where they’ve led him this time is into real trouble. A Biloxi, Mississippi, drug-cartel counting house gets robbed, and suitcases full of cash disappear, leaving behind five bodies, including that of a six-year-old girl. Davenport takes the case, which quickly spirals out of control, as cartel assassins, including a torturer known as the “Queen of home-improvement tools” compete with Davenport to find the Dixie Hicks shooters who knocked over the counting house. Things get ugly real fast, and neither the cartel killers nor the holdup men give a damn about whose lives Davenport might have saved; to them, he’s just another large target.
Filled with his trademark razor-sharp plotting and some of the best characters in suspense fiction, Golden Prey is further reason why “Sandford has always been at the top of any list of great mystery writers” (The Huffington Post).

Certainly different with Lucas being a marshal now, with new side kicks. But, a good read, as always!
As with his other books, Sanford writes an intriguing tale. Like his character descriptions. Good tale.
Love the Pretty series!!
I have always liked the books he writes. Always leaves you guessing.
always a good read by this author!
Fun to see Lucas working in a different environment!
I discovered John Sanford’s Prey series quite a number of years ago. Any time I see a new book in this series come out, I grab it. It goes to the top of my reading list. But I give you fair warning, Do Not Loan These Books To Your Friends! You will not get them back. Nobody wants to part with them because they want to go back to read them again!!
Once again John Sanford has hit a “home run”. He has expanded Lucas Davenport’s role outside of the Twin Cities and not only has managed to maintain Davenport’s unique style, but has broadened his world. All of John Sanford’s books are great but this is one of his best.
John Sanford is always a great read.
Have been a fan of John Sandford for a long time. Enjoy all the different series.
GREAT SERIES AND BOOK. ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS. ALWAYS A GREAT READ
I love John Sandford’s books; I’ve read every one of them. Golden Pray is another winner!!! He never disappoints me.
Have read the entire series so far. Stone’s constant bed hopping is getting a little tiring. It’s very obvious that each new female character will soon be in his bed. He is getting very snobbish. Liked him better in the beginning.
Few writers attain Sandford’s quality.
I love John Sandford’s “Prey” series! One of my favorite authors!
Great story line, Lucas never disappointing.
