I thought this was a great book and it explained the period in question very well and I would read this author’s works
A spectacular account of a spectacular woman. The writing flows beautifully, bringing these characters to life. Lizzie is truly a firecracker, and refuses to give up on her success. She is most definitely not afraid to get her hands dirty, working in the mine herself. When the hits just keep on coming, Baby Doe hits back.
A historical novel of a strong woman – we need more of that.
Rebecca has done her research to create a novel of a fascinating period of time in the west.
Great characters. This was a page-turner.
Looking forward to the sequel.
It doesn’t matter what era it is as proof that money does not buy happiness. I was amazed at the wealth and extravagance displayed and the lengths people went too to obtain it. I haven’t read many books on the gold rush though it was interesting how much people just moved west in droves to find the American dream. I found the book to drag a little for me but the writing was well done.
Fantastic look into a life!
