USA Today bestselling author Tawna Fenske’s outrageous romantic comedy about love and lies between perfect strangers… Unfortunately, she’s married.
In Lexi Allison’s job, she’s accustomed to warding off unwanted advances with a fake wedding ring. So when she meets a tatted-up hunk in an elevator, she’s quick to revert to her default tall tale. This guy certainly knows how to push her buttons, but the thing is, they’re the right buttons. Not that it makes any difference. She won’t see him again anyway.
Noah and Lexi are about to discover that fate has plans for both of them—and that their ups and downs are just beginning. Because it’s going to take two lies, three misunderstandings, a case of mistaken identity, and one very persistent rodent to prove that perfect strangers can make the perfect couple.

Going Up was a cute romance. Noah and Lexi were very cute characters who were also kinda nerdy and shy. I liked their first meeting as they were stuck in an elevator and passed the time getting to know each other. I really loved Noah because he was so easy for Lexi to be around and was nothing like she expected. He is kinda nerdy, nervous, and unsure what to do with his attraction for Lexi. But he was also such a gentleman. I will say these two fall for each other very fast. I’m not a fan of this, but for it to be a novella, I made an exception. Going Up was an enjoyable and quick read.
Oh my, what a fun romcom!! The perfect read for a lazy afternoon. Lexi and Noah find themselves stuck in an elevator, along with Lexi’s pet packrat, Bartholomew. There is an instant connection between the two, and now Bartholomew will help play matchmaker.
Loved these characters, they had me laughing out loud. Ok. so maybe Bartholomew was my favorite. Loved the kindle in motion features, added so much to the story. I highly recommend this short read!

Tawna Fenske gives us a fun rom com with Going Up. This is such a cute romance about a man, a woman and a packrat.
Tattooed and gorgeous Noah and quirky bartender Lexi end up stuck in an elevator together. The situation is one that they bond over, and though Noah is intrigued and attracted to Lexi he would never go after a married woman. But Lexi’s not really married, she just uses the ring and excuse to keep away the unwanted suitors her job brings in. Fate, or a packrat, brings them back together and from there its a comedic ride with love.
This was such a cute, fun and quick read. The fast pace of the novella combined with the laughs of a rom com lead to me reading this within a few hours. Once you start you are caught up in Noah and Lexi. I recommend this if you have a few hours to spare and need a good laugh.
3.5 stars–GOING UP by Tawna Fenske is a stand alone, contemporary adult, romantic comedy story line focusing on stonemason Noah Donovan, and mixologist Lexi Allison. GOING UP is a part of the Kindle in Motion series of books that can be read on any device, including Kindle E-readers. Kindle in Motion books include art, animation, or video features that can be viewed on certain Fire tablets and the free Kindle app for iOS and Android. You can switch features on or off at any time.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Noah and Lexi) GOING UP follows the building relationship between quirky and odd mixologist Lexi Allison, and stonemason Noah Donovan. Trapped in an elevator with a gorgeous man, Lexi Allison would meet her future in the guise of stonemason Noah Donovan. Pet sitting her best friend’s ‘packrat’ who will inadvertently take refuge in Noah’s lunch bag, Allison must come to grips with her own numerous quirks and emotional instabilities in an effort to remain calm in the face of potential disaster. A stuck elevator, a couple of lies, a series of misunderstandings, a purse thief, a bratwurst, and a pet rat that goes missing, not once but twice, add to the oddball misadventures for our story line couple. The premise is entertaining; the romance is sweet and passionate but mostly implied; the characters are colorful, charismatic and engaging. GOING UP is a sweet and delightful quick read.
As to the Kindle in Motion option, I was unable to access therefore I am not prepared to comment either way but if you want to see for yourself, venture to GOING UP at Amazon, and watch from the side.
This novella was unexpected. It had an unusual third character that added a little cuteness and mischief to the party. I think the 3rd character helped bring Lexi and Noah closer together. It was a sweet, funny, and sexy story. I loved it!
Going Up is a cute, short story that is quick and engaging. Can you imagine losing a packrat? Twice. Oh yeah and finding him twice. Bartholomew is the cutest little thing and the story really does revolve around him. Granted Noah and Lexi play a role too. I love Corrie and hope she gets a story. I would love to see who can tame her and how. But she is Lexi’s best friend and she takes great pleasure in playing that role with Noah. Enjoy the adventure.
This is simply a fun lighthearted story that will leave you with a big goofy smile on your face. There’s nothing like meeting a great guy while you are stuck on an elevator. That’s exactly what happens when Lexi Allison and Noah Donovan find themselves sitting in an elevator waiting to get rescued. There is an instant attraction between the two but….
You want to read this hilarious story to see how a little white lie and a furry varmint can have a huge impact on this budding relationship. I definitely recommend it.
Are you ready to laugh and melt in a love puddle all at the same time? Several people get on an elevator, some get off, others are still on. Elevator stalls. The fun begins. Noah is a large man, tattoos, a bucket of tools and would be concerning passing on a street but to be trapped in a elevator alone with this strange man is almost more that Lexi can take. She is claustrophobic, paranoid of strange men, and here she is trapped with both. Noah realizes he is intimidating so he tries to make people comfortable with him but he is failing with this strange beautiful woman. Then Lexi pulls out a surprise and Noah becomes less scary to her.
This novella is so well written. The characters are funny and the conversations they have in their own heads will keep you rolling. The supporting characters and surprise character are hilarious as well. It’s a page turner for sure. As an added bonus this book is animated. I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I loved it and HIGHLY recommend it. Oh and you will love Bartholomew.
This is another great, albeit shorter, story from Tawna Fenske. I absolutely love her wacky sense of humor, and her characters are always interesting. Noah and Lexie have an adorable meet-cute in an elevator, and I fell for Noah right away. He’s sweet and endearing, and has a great sense of humor. But while he and Lexie have an immediate connection, Lexie is wary of men thanks to a bad experience and they end up parting ways. Enter Bartholomew. This little guy, a bushy tailed wood rat, is such a matchmaker and a definite scene stealer. He helps get Noah and Lexie back together (and managed to charm his way into my heart, too).
Since this is a “Kindle in Motion” I suppose I should review that as well. I have to say that, while the concept is an interesting one, I really wasn’t too impressed with it. I read the book first without the animation and enjoyed it. When I eventually saw the animation it didn’t really add anything, plus the actor who portrayed Noah didn’t fit my image of him at all. I guess I just prefer the version of the book Tawna’s words and my imagination built in my head.
I still absolutely recommend the book. It has heart, heat and an adorable pack rat. You can’t beat that!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
A fun quick read that left me wishing for more. The characters were wonderfully developed and the chemistry between them was very believable. Who would have thought getting stuck in a elevator could turn out so well?
Sweet short story that had me laughing out loud. I was hooked from the start. Noah and Lexi are a cute dynamic duo. Never thought I’d wish I had a packrat in my life.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
Cute and funny quick read. Noah is a 6’5” 280 tattooed stonemason with a heart of gold. Lexi is a mixologist with some trust issues. From their meet cute in the elevator to Bartholomew, the sparkle obsessed pack rat, this is a delightful read.
This is my first book by this author and I thought it was a fun and cute novella. It was a quick read that made me smile a bunch and I thought both Noah and Lexi were adorable together. I mean, I wouldn’t hate being stuck in an elevator with a six foot five hottie. I’ve never heard of a packrat before, so that little guy and his shenanigans were cute too.
This was such a cute romance! I loved Noah and Lexi. Noah meets Lexi when the elevator they are on becomes stuck for over an hour. They get to talking and sort of bond over the pet pack rat that Lexi is watching. That pack rat has a lot to do with these two getting together. Bartholomew (the pack rat) stowed away in Noah’s lunch bag when the elevator got repaired and Noah had to hunt down Lexi to return him. Lexi was leery of men after an incident earlier in her life but there was just something about Noah that told her he was exactly who he seemed to be and she could trust him. Noah was a nice guy that he didn’t hold Lexi’s paranoia about guys against her and actually went out of his way to make sure she was comfortable with him. This was a sweet romance and a fast read. Would recommend this book to others.
