I have been a Carly Phillips fan for a while. With each book of hers, I’ve met an amazing, alpha male and strong female character. Kaden Barnes is perfect for this book and perfect for Lexie Parker. They both have secrets, they both have issues within their families, and they both are so attracted to each they can’t think straight.
Going Down Easy is not all fun and sex. It also tells the story of living with a family with mental issues and growing up not being understood for being different. While mental issues are hard on the person who has them it is also very difficult for the family members who love them. The tolls that it takes on everyone can make lives difficult to live, hearts difficult to open up, and jobs hard to hold.
Pick up this book, meet these characters. They are part of a series but each book is definitely a standalone story.
I loved Lexie’s sass and that she never backed down from Kade. A quick, sexy read! Looking forward to the others in the series.
a little sad in parts but a good story.
good easy read ,entertaining too. I’ll read more in the series.
Sexy and fun
I have read just about every book by this auth. And i love them all
I liked that the author conquered the subject of mental illness. It was pretty twist to a hush subject.
Going Down Easy is the first installment of the Billionaire Bay Boys Series. They do not have to be read in order because each book is a stand alone issue. The book contains good characters who face real life issues, it’s well written with a developed plot and a HEA.
This book is the tale of Lexi Parker and Kaden Barnes. Kaden is a Techno Geek, who with the help of his 2 best friends developed and app called Blink. Kaden has ADHD, anxiety and other quirks. Because of these issues he was left by his mother and every woman he has known since. He is very demanding and that has cost him several PA’s. Unbeknownst to him his partners and best friends have hired him a new PA, Lexie Parker, they have warned her not to let him intimidate her. This she can do because she has an identical twin with mental issues that she became the caretaker of and basically gave up everything for.
With the first meet and greet she proves to Kaden that she will not stand for his arrogant ways and she, as well, can be just as bossy. She takes his issues in stride and he is impressed. They both find themselves attracted to one another but hold a part of themselves back. Kaden thinks she will betray him and leave him just like all the others and Lexi thinks because of her twin, the day will come when she will have to walk away and give up another part of herself.
The attraction grows and turns into love but an adversary wants part of the company and uses Lexi’s twin to interfere. Can each find the strength to trust and give up something in order to go down the road of HEA?
I’ve always enjoyed Carly Phillips writing and this is no exception. I love strong heroines and Lexie has that in spades.
Liked
I thought the lawsuit storyline would be a little more involved. It was too easily resolved.
What’s not to love about hot office sex? Empathetic portrayal of mental health issues. Nicely done.
I enjoy Carly Philips and this is part of a fun series.
Carly Phillips always delivers!
This is the 1st book I read by Carly Phillips. I loved this book’s storyline. This book’s storyline was sad . I loved the hot & steamy scenes. I loved Lexie’s character. My heart broke for Lexie. I loved Kade’s character. My heart broke for Kade. I loved the ending. Awesome job Ms. Phillips.
This is a typical boss/employee relationship, with an FMC who cares for a sick family member. In the usual fashion, the story paints each MC as sexually attracted to the other, and the boss is demanding and sort of a jerk, but has a good reason … It’s all very ‘been done before’.
However:
A couple of characters suffer from mental health issues and I was pleasantly surprised to see the author did depict these illnesses realistically. This is hard to come by in a world where mental well-being and afflictions just aren’t taken seriously. It’s so rare to find an author who is responsible in their depiction. For that reason, and thanks to the likable characters, I enjoyed this read and will read on in the series to see what else this author has going on.
4 stars.
Note;
I listened to the audiobook; the narrator has a pleasant enough voice. 4-star performance.
It’s Carly Phillips, of course, I’m reading it.
I loved this book. Read it twice I really enjoyed the story. Loved the characters and the story. Couldn’t put down and was sad when it ended. Can’t wait to read the next book. This is one of my favorite authors who never disappoint. She always writes books that I can’t put down once I start reading.
This is the first book in the newest series Billionaire Bad boys by Carly Phillips and the first of Carly’s books I have read. “GOING DOWN EASY” is a must read for everyone! I fell in love with these characters from the start. Kaden, our billionaire hero, is not a normal hero..he has quirks, many of them. A man who does not trust easy, especially women, learns that there is such a thing as a woman who will love him unconditionally even with all of his quirks. Lexi is a woman who has her own issues, a woman on the brink of a wonderful career in Manhattan with her boyfriend is needed to take care of her bi-polar sister, so she gives up her personal life and career for the needs of her family.
There is also a lot of drama as the hero tries to get over his being betrayed by every female that meant something to him. Then the heroine has to deal with the sister’s criminal act against Lexi’s boss, jeopardizing her job and her love life and absolutely no regards to what she was doing to her sister.
I felt the different mental issues in the story were well handled and anything that helps in any way to lessen the stigma of mental illness has to be a plus.
I thought this was a great story and cant wait for the next in the series.
Quick, easy to read current romance novel.
