Are they permanently in lust or accidentally in love? With a steamy backdrop like New Orleans Nicholas’ works her magic. Going Down Easy is meant to be memorable and with a duo like Gabe and Addison, it certainly is. When a booty call becomes the real deal, there are tough choices to be made and long withheld truths to be revealed. If the spice of life serves as the food of the heart, Erin Nicholas’ has cooked up a tempting treat.
This is the first book in a promising new series featuring single parents and set in the colorful, historic Big Easy, New Orleans. In this book we meet Gabe Trahan, co-owner and bartender at his family’s tavern, and Addison Sloan, his once a month fling who lives in New York. The arrangement works well for them, keeping things light and never getting personal, until Addison moves to New Orleans. As much as Gabe has decided he wants more now that they’re living in the same city, Addison is determined to walk away, but somehow their lives get more and more intertwined.
It took me a while to warm up to Addison and I really didn’t like her in the beginning. She came across as selfish and she was really unfair to Gabe, jerking him around with mixed messages about their relationship or lack thereof. As I continued reading and got to know more of her backstory, I understood her a little more, although it still took some time to win me over. Finally, she got on board, but I just had a feeling she would do something to sabotage the good things in her life that were outside her comfort level. Well, let’s just say, I may have misjudged Addison and was very surprised by what transpired because both she and Gabe had a few things to learn.
The kids really made this book for me, and I was fascinated by the setup, with Gabe’s son being more like Addison and Addison’s daughter having a personality more similar to Gabe’s. Cooper is cautious, contemplative and practical, and Stella is enthusiastic, adventurous and perpetual motion. They were both entertaining and adorable and had full-size personalities for pint-sized five-year-olds. They were endearing and delightful, and also provided some interesting object lessons for their parents. This book tugged at my emotions, made me laugh and warmed my heart. I definitely recommend it for a steamy, emotional, feel-good, fantastic read.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author through Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.
This book give you all of the “feels” that a great book should! This is such a sweet story about Gabe and Addison but with the wonderful addition of two 5year old children that make for the perfect family!
She has a five-year-old daughter. He has a five-year-old son. They are both single parents. For the last six months, one weekend a month, they’ve hooked-up with each other. That’s it – a hook-up. No personal information exchanged, just hot and heavy sex and doing tourist things in New Orleans where he lives. Now she has moved to New Orleans. How will that change things?
Addison Sloan just landed a great job with Monroe and LeBlanc, one of the top restoration architecture firms in New Orleans. She and her daughter, Stella need to adjust to their new setting. No time for more hook-ups. Gabe Trahan owns a bar located in a historic building in New Orleans. He thinks he is falling in love with with Addison so doesn’t accept her good-bye. They both now attend the same single-parent support group. They can’t avoid each other now and their children have met there on family day and have taken a liking to each other. And then…..
Going Down Easy is the first book in author Erin Nicholas’ new series, Boys of the Big Easy. This book is not just another sexy romance book. There is so much more to it. I found this story to be a thought-provoking read about the difficulties of being a single parent as well as an entertaining love story. The main characters, Addison and Gabe are both loving, tough and dedicated to their kids. They both have some emotional baggage and misgivings about how well they are doing as single parents. The two children, Stella and Cooper add levity and poignancy to the story. There’s also lots of sexy times, fun and happiness.
Great beginning to this series! Author Erin Nicholas never disappoints!
4 star review Going Down Easy (Boys Of The Big Easy #1) by Erin Nicholas
A single dad story with a difference and one I enjoyed. Erin Nicholas is a new author to me and I am not sure why. Gabe Trahan is a New Orleans single dad who has been having a monthly fling with New Yorker Addison Sloan. Gabe runs a bar with his brother and Addison consults at an architectural firm. They have been having fun and the chemistry between them is off the charts. What happens when Gabe begins to feel that there could be more between them than just a fling even though live so far apart? Or do they?
Unbeknownst to Gabe, Addison has accepted a position in New Orleans which will put her right on his doorstep. Gabe is thrilled when he finds out but Addison realises he could be a danger to her heart and decides to break things off. What transpires is a story of push and pull, give and take and find the courage from within to move out of one’s comfort zone and take a chance on life.
I really fell hard and fast for Gabe but Addison, not so much. In fact it wasn’t until towards the end of the book that I truly warmed up to her. They say opposites attract and Gabe and Addison are certainly opposites in many ways.
The banter and camaraderie between the single parent group attendees as well as the children made for some humorous and at times sad moments. This is the first book in a her new series and I will be checking out the rest as they become available.
Going Down Easy is the first book by author Erin Nicholas that I have read. I loved it!! I enjoyed the story, the pacing, and the writing style. I am not usually drawn to books that involve kids, but the blurb hooked me! I am so glad I gave this book and author a try!
Gabe is a single dad and after meeting Addison, he knows she’s most likely the one for him. But he only sees her once a month when she comes in from NYC for a client meeting. For one weekend a month, they indulge every fantasy they have. Hot sex, good food, jazz music, what’s not to love! Only Gabe finds the wants so much more than one weekend a month!
Addison is a restoration architect and is thrilled she met Gabe. She loves her weekends in New Orleans with him. He’s all she thinks about! When she actually takes a job in New Orleans, she’s leery about telling Gabe. She’s a single mom and that usually sends men running for the hills! But Gabe is different. He’s actually overjoyed that she moved there and that it’s wonderful she is a mom! Addison doesn’t know how to mesh everyday Addison with fling weekend Addison though. She’s having a hard time. Gabe won’t give up-he’s fallen for her! He just has to make her see that they are the whole package when they are together.
I totally loved this story! Like I said, kids isn’t something that I am drawn to normally, but here, they really work! Stella and Cooper were great secondary characters! I liked how they connected too! Gabe is so endearing and I love how he gets Addison to realize different parenting styles are ok. How he got her to join a single parent group and see you don’t have to do everything by yourself. That it is ok to lean on people and have support. It’s ok to not feel like wanting to be a parent 24/7 and that it is ok to want time away from your child. This group gave her insight on how to be a better parent and I admired them for it! Both Gabe and Addison had some issues within themselves to resolve. Their chemistry was spicy hot, so I had high hopes of them figuring out a way to make it all work!
Going Down Easy is a great start to the Boys of the Big Easy series! I am anxious to get my hands on the next book!!
Dirty-talking and heart-string pulling GOLD! You will not want to miss a minute of the latest series Erin Nicholas has in store for us! Single dads loose in The Big Easy, doing the best job they can to raise their kids while finding the women of their dreams in the process. This first book brought us the story of the king of dirty-talk Gabe and uptight Addison. They’ve been having a sexy fling, but when she moves to town and they each find out the other has a kid, the situation becomes complex. He’s all in, but she’s dragging her feet. It takes some tough love and adorable kids to soften her stance into giving love a chance. A really fun read that I devoured in one sitting … looking forward to more in the series!
Single dad and New Orleans bar owner Gabe Trahan thought he hit the jackpot when he met the delectable Addison several months ago. One weekend a month she arrives in town and blows his mind with steamy sex, laughter and magical trips around the city. Lately he’s been finding her on his mind more often and wishing their time wasn’t so limited together … if only she’d consider relocating!
Architect Addison Sloan enjoys her time with Gabe, and it fits her plan of casual and stress free perfectly. Unbeknownst to him, this was the last weekend she plans to show up to meet him because she’s calling the fling off. Moving to New Orleans herself for a job changes the scenario to too close to home for her liking. Not to mention, she has a daughter that never came up in their discussions … that’s got to be cause for a man like him to take off, right?
Gabe and Addison were HOT! Their story flew off the pages and I couldn’t put it down. After a chance meeting via text, when Gabe gets to meet Addison in person he just knows…he knows that this is going to be something special. And he’s not wrong. And Addison thinks she can keep Gabe as a “friend” but she’s can’t resist his ‘Nawlins charm! Sexy, hot book. Erin Nicholas is off to a great start with her new Boys of the Big Easy series!
Loved this first book in a new series. Gabe was such a fabulous guy and a great dad. Addison wore two different hats- on one hand she was the carefree woman who had a monthly sexy rendezvous with Gabe when she was in New Orleans on business and on the other hand she was a checklist making single mother to a 5 yr old daughter. Gabe did not know her to be a single mother and she wanted to keep it that way. Until their worlds came together in the same city. Gabe was way ahead of Addison on making plans for them to be together especially after he found out that they both had a 5 yr old child. Addison was thinking that would scare him away and he already had them married, with a dog, white picket fence and more kids. She didn’t even want to date anyone. Their parenting styles were completely different but worked for them. Gabe lived with his mother and his mother helped take care of his son, Cooper. Addison raised her daughter Stella differently than Gabe in that she let Stella try things and be her own person and it worked because Stella was friendly, outgoing, adventurous little girl. Cooper was a little more cautious and careful about everything and tended to overthink things. As much as I loved Gabe and Addison as a couple because they were hot together, you could just feel the chemistry between them, I loved the friendship between Stella and Cooper. Stella basically became a protector to Cooper and took care of him. It was after an event at preschool came to light that Gabe started to second guess how he was as a father. He distanced himself from Addison to prove to himself he could be the father Cooper needed and Addison realized she had to let him figure it out on his own, similar to how she raises Stella. She needed to let Gabe know he wasn’t alone but that she would give him the space he needed. It actually helped Gabe and Addison realize that the other balanced each other out and they were exactly what they needed.
I enjoyed the single parents group that Gabe and then Addison belonged too. I can wait to get more stories from them. Especially Gabe’s brother Logan! This was a great book and I am excited for more!
This book gripped me from the first page and became one that I couldn’t put down until the last word was read.
Addison travels to New Orleans on business once a month and has been for 6 months now. On the first trip, she went to Gabe’s bar for drinks and got much more than she bargained for. She got Gabe. When she ends up transferring to New Orleans, she does what every woman would do in that situation. She dumps him. HUH?!? Wait. That’s not supposed to happen! Addison has been keeping a little secret from Gabe. A five year old named Stella. She thinks that this is enough to make Gabe run for the hills. What she doesn’t count on, is him being a single parent as well.
Gabe has wanted Addison from day one and that didn’t stop when he found out about Stella. If anything, it intensifies his attraction to Addison.
Watching these two work through their issues as single parents was both comical and gut wrenching. I was a single mom for 11 years and have felt all of the emotions that Ms. Nicolas penned so perfectly. She did an amazing job of balancing parenthood with navigating a relationship.
Gabe and Addison are beautiful. Add in Cooper and Stella and this book is true perfection. I blushed. I swooned. I cheered. I cried. I felt. If a book can make you do all those things, you know it is a masterpiece.

This is a great start to the Boys of Big Easy series!
Gabe and Addison have been having a fling for one weekend a month for the past six months while she’s visiting New Orleans for work. When she makes the move to being in NOLA permanently, Addison decides to end her fling with Gabe. Except he’s not having it. All the reasons Addison gives for things not working in the long term, Gabe obliterates.
I loved Gabe and I wanted to love Addison but some of her reasons for not wanting to be with Gabe were lame. They could have bonded on their similarities but instead she used them to keep him at an arm’s length for a little too long. I loved the support group that Gabe and Addison were a part of and all of the side characters in this story. I was hooked to the story and finished it in one sitting. I’m really looking forward to see what’s next in this series!
*This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
The first page of this book would lead you to believe it’s about nothing but steam. After all, we are talking about New Orleans here, and there’s a LOT of steam. But with or without steam, this story is SO good! I really didn’t like Addison at the beginning of the story, but Gabe and Addison balance each other so well. And surprise! They each have a 5-year old child! As the story unfolds, parenting styles, fears, adventures, and love are drawn out naturally and wonderfully. I can’t wait for the next installment of this new series by Erin Nicholas. Boys of the Big Easy: Book 1. Go get it!!!
I received an ARC of Going Down Easy for a review.
Disclaimer: I have read all of Erin’s books except 4 and I know I say this with each new series, but this one is the best so far. I love the family aspect of Going Down Easy and that this story isn’t just about the relationship of Gabe & Addison but of the mingling of their families with their two children, Cooper and Stella.
Gabe and Addison had been tackling single parenting and thought they had it down until they met each other. Their relationship strengthened their parenting skills and their children were just what the other needed.
New Orleans is played out perfectly in this book and I should know since I live a little over 2 hours away from Nola.
This is such a sweet and saucy story-you won’t want to miss it!
Omg! Wow! What an absolutely wonderful story. It definitely gave me all the feels. I laughed. I cried. I fell in love… With Gabe (so swoon worthy and my new book boyfriend for sure). With Addison (so independent and her views on parenthood was so like mine. She totally gets me). With the kids (such adorable cuties). So many wonderful relationships in this story. I absolutely loved everything in this story. It was sexy, romantic, hot and sweet all at the same time. I really don’t know what else to say except that I loved Going Down Easy, Book 1 of Erin Nicholas’ Boys of the Big Easy Series. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. Lots of very interesting secondary characters who would make great heroes. And I can’t wait to read all about them.
*I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book*
Going Down Easy is the first book in Erin Nicholas’ new “Boys of the Big Easy” series. You find single parent and bar co-owner, Gage, enamored with bar patron and New York architect, Addison. At first, these two develop a steamy physical relationship involving beignets, powdered sugar, and wrought iron fences making you believe a long distance relationship is in the works. However Addison takes a job in New Orleans at the firm restoring Gage’s family Tavern and doesn’t tell him that she is moving to his hometown! Both Gage and Addison views their relationship differently. Gage is all in and Addison is not. Addison is hiding the fact that she is also a single mom, so she tries to end things first. Readers follow the journey as these two single parents navigate support groups, alligators, and family. This story made me smile, made me laugh, made me cry, and made me think. I can’t wait to explore the Big Easy in the rest of the books in the series.

One weekend a month, Addison travels to New Orleans to consult with a restoration firm. She took advantage of that to have one weekend to herself & have a fling. She concentrated on what she wanted rather than being a single mom. When she was offered a job & moved to town, she decided to break it off with Gabe before he found out she had a daughter & broke it off. When Gabe confronted her & found out about her daughter, he admitted he was a single father & had a young son. While Gabe & Addison worked their way through obstacles, the kids grew close. Can they find a way to become a family?
What I found amusing is that Gabe is adventurous & outgoing while Addison is cautious, practical & concerned with safety. Opposites do attract but what’s a twist is that their kids are the opposite of them too. Gabe’s son is cautious & smart while Addison’s daughter is daring & brave. The interactions between Gabe & Addison are intense, passionate & fiery whether they are fighting or making up. I loved that the kids instantly took to each other from the beginning. They played off each other’s strengths & made each other stronger. This was a wonderful story to read & I couldn’t put it down.
I LOVED this book! It was sexy, fun, and a bit different with both Addison and Gabe being single parents. Gabe was a hero you will be falling for in no time. Addison. Oh Addison. She drew so many emotions out of me all at once. While there were moments that I wanted to throttle you, in those same moments I wanted to go hang with her, because I’ve been where she’s been and know how she’s feeling. I enjoyed watching her grow in that aspect, and seeing her realize how much is really out there and to enjoy it.
This is a fantastic start to this new series by Erin Nicholas that I would definitely recommend!!!
Wow! Cuddle factor is pretty high! This book makes you melt! You can feel the heat radiating from this couple. They started out with a once a month scorching between the sheets fling to a heavenly romance!!! Gabe could charm the panties off any woman and the woman he really wanted was Addison. Addison was not about to let anyone into her life and know things about her. How does this spicy book end? Well you are going to have to read to find out. You won’t be disappointed!!!

I loved every single thing about this! Going Down Easy is the first in a new series set in New Orleans.
Gabe is pretty much everything I want in a hero: romantic, charming, sexy as can be and a loving single dad. Plus he is ALL in, no holding back, head over heels for Addison, which I loved.
Addison is a strong, independent heroine but she surprised me (and Gabe) with how often she opened up. She accepted help and wasn’t overly stubborn.
Their relationship was SO steamy but I loved watching them get to know each other better and act as a family too. The kids were especially adorable and there was a great cast of secondary characters in the story.
This was a fantastic start to this series!!
Just when you think you have read your favorite book from Erin Nicholas, she freaking blows your mind again! This MUST read is officially my new favorite and Gabe is my new book boyfriend (so back off ladies…I call DIBS)!
Going Down Easy is the first book of the Boys of the Big Easy series. Gabe Trahan and Addison Sloan hook up every month when she comes into town on business. The sex is through the roof amazing, but they each have a secret they have been able to keep from one another because their relationship is far from platonic…until her job relocates her. How will they deal with everything after this happens? (I seriously want to talk more about the story line…but trying not to do spoilers!)
Gabe and Addison are such wonderfully developed characters! I love the New Orleans setting and the storyline is absolutely fabulous! The research the author has done to write this book is apparent in the mentions of Addison’s favorite things about the town (the care au laits, po’boys, jazz bands, markets, riverboats, masquerade balls, etc…). I love the twists and turns in this book, Gabe’s determination, and of course the descriptive and creative sex and love scenes that will make your heart swoon!
Erin has given the other characters in this book…especially Logan, Stella, Cooper, Caroline, and Caleb, such an important and phenomenal part in this book! Going Down Easy will make you laugh, love, and play with your emotions. I love how easy it is to follow the conversations and point of views as this is written as a two person POV.
**THE NEXT PART MIGHT POSSIBLY GIVE AWAY SOME STORY LINE…read at your own discretion WINK, WINK **
The part at the dinner table Logan, Gabe, and Cooper is OMG…HILARIOUS!!!
And the Single Parent Support Group…PERFECT!!! Loved those scenes SO much!!! When the other members talk about Gabe’s “Woman from New York”…YES!!! AWESOME!!!
The single parent issues Erin Nicholas has encompassed in this book are so incredibly well done! She has dealt with this common and serious occurrence deeply, but with a soft pen. One of the many reasons she is one of my absolute FAVORITE authors!!!
