“Elise Sax will win your heart.”—NYT bestelling author Jill Shalvis “Elise Sax will make you laugh. The Five Wishes Series: Novellas about wishes that go terribly wrong…fortunately. Five Wishes…A happy ending is just a coin toss away. Each novella is approximately 100 pages with NO cliffhanger.
Book 1: Going Down:
Marion MacAlister wants to nail her audition, not get nailed. Truly. Honestly. All right…maybe she does want to get nailed, but that’s just because her hottie landlord and local diner owner Mack Ryan is confusing her. Can friends become lovers? Especially friends who might not even be friends in the first place?
Book 2: Man Candy:
Raine Harper is in love with Wade Gates. But Wade likes women who are model thin, and Raine is model thin plus a whole lot of pounds. Desperate to make him love her, she trains just a little too hard and passes out in the arms of superstar movie star Dirk Adams. Dirk thinks Raine’s junk in the trunk is perfect and proposes to make Wade jealous by becoming her pretend boyfriend. Pretend soon seems very real. Is Dirk a great actor, or is something really developing between Raine and the movie star?

You gotta love Elise Sax!
Great likable characters! Hilarious!! It is a short story.
I didn’t realize this series was a collection of novellas, I prefer stories with more depth.
Going down gets an OK rating. I laughed once, but this friends to lovers story was just a rehash of the trope. Nothing new or interesting and the heroine was one of those loser types, can’t keep a job, can’t manage money, etc. 2 stars
Man Candy had me laughing a few times. Again, it was hardly a new story line about making an object of Raine’s affection jealous by using another man, but I did like it. 3 stars
Both stories have heroines with weight issues and handle them poorly, another thing I don’t like. The sex scenes were more graphic than I expected in a book with such a cutsey cover. Didn’t affect my rating, just an FYI if that’s not your thing.
I both received a copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review and “bought” the book when it was offered for free.

O.M.G. Normally I like long books, but these stories? Fabulous. Absolute great quick reads that I thoroughly enjoyed!! Nothing stories have great characters and it’s clear where the story is going, but you kinda fall in love with the characters and want to be Raine or Marion. Highly recommend!!
I have to admit, I laughed out loud on this one. Funny and light and well worth reading. Man Candy wasn’t as funny, but it was still an enjoyable read. Perfect for a cold, winter night.
Soooo funny and hard to stop reading.
I felt the characters were real people.
You definitely want to read the entire series! Laughing so hard at each one!
Definitely will make a dreary day fun!
Omg! I laughed so hard at one point, I snorted my soda everywhere. If you enjoy funny heroines, laugh out loud situations, but want steamy romance with your giggles, check out Elise Sax’s book Going Down and Man Candy.
I had fun reading this book. I like this writer.
Loved it!!
Beware of Explicit language!
I have never laughed so hard or so long
Quick two story read… a bit over simplified but funny and romantic…. Kind of liked that aspect, not a lot of blah, blah about the same thing over and over.
A great read.
This book was engaging, but way too steamy for me . . .
Fun read.
Not my favorite
Didn’t hold my interest would not recommend.
