Standalone enemies-to-lovers football romanceGoing deep: In football it means running down the field for a long pass. You’re serious. Committed. Unstoppable. As a wide receiver, it’s a term I’m all too familiar with. It’s who I am, at least when it comes to my career. For the past decade, football has been the only thing I’ve allowed myself to commit to. That is until a beautiful, blue-eyed … a beautiful, blue-eyed temptress steps into my limo to escort me to a charity function.
She’s strong, independent, and quick witted. Everything I want in a woman. There’s just one problem. She’s not mine for the taking. But that’s not going to stop me from winning her heart.
I’m in deep with this woman. I’m running down the field with my arms and heart open, ready for the catch. Now all I need is for her to throw the ball.

Aweeee. This book was all that I hoped it would be. There were ups and downs. Happiness and sadness, and just an overall, heart felt read that deals with deep emotions. I loved seeing both Giselle and Killian overcome their pasts. They both had deep seated issues that stem from what they have went through and it really changed who they were as people. But they were able to work together and overcome them. I loved the snarky comments between them at the start and seeing them evolve in their relationship and as people. I can’t wait to see what is to come next in this series. 5 stars #2OCCJD
This author is one of my very favorites. She gets me hook, line, and sinker every time. Giselle is a stressed out fractured woman. Killian, a little judgy but when they get over themselves it’s explosive.
Complete opposites, while also being so alike, Killian and Giselle are two broken halves that make a whole heart. All of their secrets putting them on opposite sides of that ball, then when snapped it is what draws them together. This enemies to lovers read was one that had my heart running the gamut of emotions. From anger to heartache, love to sheer joy, I enjoyed watching these two beat their heads against the same brick wall. Odd I know, but when they both caved to the desire pulling on them, it had me rooting for all the feels that I knew were there.
This was my first Nikki Ash (solo authored) read, and when I get the chance I’ll be going back to start from the beginning cause I know I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next installment from this series. Definitely recommend!
I flove spots romance and enemies to lovers! Going Deep gave me the best of both worlds! I’ve been on pins and needles for this book ever since the epilogue in The Pickup. I was dying to know what it all meant, and in some ways I guessed right.
We first met Killian and Giselle in the The Pickup. Even though Killian is Nick’s best friend, and Giselle is Olivia’s, Killian and Giselle remained sworn enemies. But they both have something in common…they are broken. Killian from a traumatic relationship back in high school and Giselle practically raised her little sister while taking care of their mother, mental illness and all, especially after their dad walked out them. They both plaster smiles on their faces and keep their problems close to their chests. Can two broken people open up enough to let the other in?
Going Deep held me captivated from beginning to end. It’s an emotional, angsty read. It’s when you can literally feel all those emotions that makes it unputdownable.
Nikki Ash please keep writing ALL THE WORDS, so I will be able to read them. Mmmkay, thanks! Going Deep is a stand-alone, you do not have to read The Pickup to enjoy it. Now we wait for On the Surface
After The Pickup I couldn’t wait for Killian’s story and Going Deep was so much more than my poor little heart was ready for. This book was an amazing and spellbinding surprise I simply adored.
I absolutely loved Killian and Giselle. The slow burn between them held me riveted from beginning to end. These two had my feelings all over the place as my heart hurt for them, I shed some tears and then swooned like crazy. I honestly wasn’t ready for how invested I would become in these two. Giselle tugged at my heart so hard and I rooted for her from the start. I fell so hard for Killian as he started to show all his broken pieces. These two were pure perfection together.
Going Deep was a heartfelt slow burn that was perfectly imperfect. Giselle and Killian’s journey wasn’t easy but it was amazing to watch unfold. After the way these two played with my heart I’m eager to see what’s to come next in this series.
4.5 stars – I’d been wondering about Killian’s backstory since I was introduced to him in The Pickup & it didn’t disappoint. Knowing exactly what made him tick and seeing the secrets he was hiding made me like him even more. I loved seeing his protective side as he learned there was more to Giselle than he first saw and slowly progressed into a relationship with her. The characters that Nikki Ash created in The Pickup continue to draw me in and I loved seeing Nick, Olivia, and Celeste again, as well as getting to know siblings Quinn, Jax, and Jase at their tattoo shop. I can’t wait for my next journey to their world.
I loved it. Giselle is such an amazing strong character. With a mother who is battling severe depression and mood swings she is taking her families burdens and trying to take care of them. Killian is the man who just wants to take care of her for once. I loved their relationship and the way he tries so hard to prove to her that he would do anything for her. Perfect happy ending. This one has moved up to my personal favorite Nikki Ash book just because I relate to it so much.
Going Deep was an amazing book, Nikki Ash has done a wonderful job writing this book. I love how Nikki Ash gives such depth to her characters. How Nikki put in the references to Alice’s Adventures to Wonderland completely fit the story and the characters. Both Giselle and Killian are suffering from things that have happened in the past. They hated each other from the first time they met. What they didn’t realize that even though their problems were different their suffering was the same. Once they put all aside they found out they could not live with out each other. Killian is football star and Giselle is taking any job to help pay the bills. This book has all the feels from frustration to happiness. I was hanging on to the edge of my seat all the way to the end of the book. Going Deep is a must read.
Really enjoyed Giselle and Killians story so much. My emotions were seriously all over the place with these two. Its the second book in the Imperfect Love series and is even better. At first they cant stand each other but as time goes on their feelings change. I am utterly in love with these two and truly could not put down.
Nikki Ash is one of those authors I wished I have discovered much sooner. This is only the second book of hers I have read, and she totally blew me away with it. Same as the first one I’ve read, I mistakenly went in thinking I would be getting a rather lighthearted read – but ohhh no! Wrong again. The emotions in GOING DEEP basically drip from the pages and buried themselves deep into my heart, every word pulling me deeper and deeper under the spell of this powerful love story…
It’s the story of Killian, a football star that has it all, rescuing and falling for a girl – Giselle – he never thought he wanted. A love/hate relationship turned into an achingly beautiful slow burn romance. I get all emotional again just thinking about it… sigh.
It’s the thousand little details and facets, the depth of the storyline and its perfectly broken characters that make it as unique and as unputdownable as it is. This one right here is the reason I started reading romance in the first place. I need more!
I loved this book so much. Nikki always kills it. I’ve been reading her books from the beginning and they are all great. This one was so great because it touched on things that everybody can relate to. Two flawed people, despite their past can come together and be as one. Killian is so funny and he is a great man. Giselle is so strong and she has all these things weighing on her shoulders. It’s a lot for one woman to take. Killian steps in and tries to help but all he gets is pushback from her. He wants to be her everything and she wants that too hit she’s just scared. In the end it all works out for a great HEA.
It’s taken me a few days to just stew in my book hangover in order to formulate words for how I feel about this book. Giselle and Killian are by far my favorite characters in this series so far! Giselle is a woman after my own heart! I related so much and felt her pain and how torn she is with all of the responsibilities and secrets shes keeping. Keeping people at arms length because shes afraid to get hurt or let people into her stress filled life. Whats even worse is how much more its hurting her and the people she loves. She is so strong and independent, feeling that she has to shoulder so much burden just to make life easier for others, when it could also be easier for her if she just let the people who love her help her. I fell for Killian instantly! He is so charming and lovable! I love his wit and humor, and also that fact that values the relationships in his life and won’t let someone into it unless he they go deep. When a mixup up has him finding out Giselle’s secret by simply ending up in the same vehicle together, he gets a bigger glimpse of Giselle than he expected. As his insistence to crack down Giselle’s walls and find out even more about what she’s hiding grows he begins to develop feelings and a true need to care for her and help her. He needs to convince her that he’s willing to go deep for, but has a secret from his past he needs to overcome to do so. Each crack in her foundation makes him fall even harder for her and make it impossible for her to say no to him. Will they survive each others secrets and make it in the end?
Nikki hit it out of the park again! I loved that there were so many ah ha moments in the story and cliffhangers. She really knows how to keep the reader engaged. This book didn’t slow down for a minute. Loved it!
FINALLY!!! The anticipated book 2!!!!! It sucked me in right from the beginning and dropped me with a happy heart!!! But ugh that emotional rollercoaster was tough! Nikki Ash never disappoints Going Deep was a swoon worthy read! Killan and Gisselle broke my heart and stitched it back up Ya’ll this is a must READ!
Wow. Out of all the books I have read from Nikki this one is my favorite. So many different emotions I went through reading this one. So well written with amazing characters and a great storyline. Giselle had me from the very beginning. Watching her mother deal with what she was going through she gripped me with her story. Then once Killian came into the picture I was ready to cry. These two together are freaking amazing . How broken they are but how well they fit together and heal each other. Nikki blew me away with this one and had me loving every single page of this book. Highly recommend this tender gripping lovable story.
Nikki Ash has told me I’ve died 100x already from reading her books. Although, this is true to a fault, Going Deep was a whole different story. So different that I’m actually going to tattoo one of her quotes, because once I read it called out to me in so many ways it was indescribable.
I have been able to relate to some of her characters, female or Male, but never have I read a book where I’ve mistaken the story for my own life. Gisele was beyond on point what a strong, beautiful and independent woman is. She is the definition of invincible. Never have a read a story where the female character is so beautifully written to the point that I mistaken it for real life. Although, Gisele is struggling and she feels like she can barely keep her head above water anymore, she puts on a front so good just like in real life. You just can’t help fall in love with here and from beginning to the end you wish and pray for her happily ever after.
Killian… what can I say…. first, hot damn the man is just wow. Fanning myself one second.
Just like most of Nikki’s alpha Male characters, Killian is all that. Very alpha. Yes, he’s a bit of a dick at first but once he starts to see the real Gisele, boy is it a game changer for him. Killian is definitely what you dream about as a little girl.
Another book well written and one that I will forever keep in my heart and reread for a 2nd time.
I have been reading a lot of romance books and this one has blown me away. I love an enemies to lovers book because you get to watch everything unfold and have a front row seat. I absolutely loved Killian and Giselle’s story. They have this chemistry that is their underneath the dislike they both had for each other.
When Killian has to go to a charity he has no idea that Giselle is in the limo waiting for him to attend this charity with him. He is surprised to say the least but when he sees her all dressed up his heart skips a beat and he is not sure what is happening to him but he knows that he wants Giselle and more than friends.
But Giselle is leery and she keeps him at bay and tells him they are better as friends. But Giselle knows that deep down inside she wants him but she is scared to give her heart to him because she doesn’t want to get hurt. The slow burn that they have is just perfect and I love it because Killian has to work for Giselle’s heart.
“I just want to feel connected to someone. I’m tired of feeling so alone.”
Going Deep is my first read from the new to me author. Though a part of a series and the characters from book one were part of the story, this can be read as stand alone. It tells the story of Giselle and Killian, who are both friends of the book one’s main characters. All through out my reading, I realized that these two could never be more perfect for each other. On the outside, both seem to think the other less and represent what they run away from. For Killian, he regards Giselle as a gold digger, the sort of girls he seems to attract and wary of. While Giselle thought of Killian as a playboy befitting his status as a famous football player. Broken and lonely, they found solace through each other and eventually, the love and connection they were both yearning for.
There are moments in this story that I’ve cried, mostly those that involved Giselle’s mother. I love how her character is someone you can deeply connect to. I see myself in her when it comes to taking care of your family. How you put their needs before yours, the sacrifices you do to ensure the family’s welfare. That’s why at first I was a bit hurt by Killian’s treatment of her. But like Giselle who puts up a great show of being tough, Killian hides a pain so deep that made him act the way he does. I love the slow build up of their relationship, the anticipation of them finally getting together, the enemies-to-lovers vibe they are throwing (which I’m a sucker by the way!). There are steamy hot and swoon worthy moments that is sure to make you fall for Giselle and Killian’s love story. I can’t wait for our equally stubborn and independent Celeste’s story.
Nikki has done it again! Going deep is an amazing book! I fell in love with Giselle and Killian. I swear these two love to hate each other until they fall in love with each other. Giselle is such a fiercely independent woman carrying the world on her shoulders. Killian is such a sweet damaged soul, yet such a giver. Together they are everything!
I’m used to dealing with this on my own, and I can’t let a friendly gesture from Killian change that. All I can count on is myself and that’s not going to change. I might not be able to stand on my own to feet when it comes to living on my own yet, but I’ve never once asked anyone to come to the rescue when it comes to the rest of my life.
This book. There’s so much I want to say that I just … can’t, but let me tell you it was just everything I’d hoped for and more. Meeting Killian in the previous book, I anticipated this one to be ab it more lighthearted. I knew Giselle had a lot going on in her life, but I anticipated Killian to bring some fun and laughter into her life, and thereby give me a lighthearted, romantic comedy.
Man, was I off base.
Now, this isn’t to say that I didn’t laugh or that the story was all doom & gloom & angst, but there was an underlying tone of seriousness to the story that made it stand out against some other “rom-com” stories. This story completely touched my heart. These two were waaaaay more similar than I imagined they’d be and parts of their story completely broke my heart. ” Nobody is perfect, Giselle. We’re all broken, filled with imperfections, scars from the wounds life has inflicted on us. Being with you has shown me that it’s not about trying to fix the broken, but finding the person you can be broken with .”
This series, y’all … it’s more than I could’ve hoped for. If you haven’t started it – DO. It’s totally worth your time.
Nikki Ash keeps getting better and better! Going Deep was sexy AF! I’ve wanted Giselle and Killian’s story since I was reading The Pickup. I just knew these two were going to have a gorgeous and beautiful story! Giselle is the woman you want to come out on top. You just know in your gut that she’s going to succeed in life or die trying! Her drive and determination is admirable and I just wanted all the good things to happen for her. Killian is the completely swoon-factor. I adored this man. I dare to see a reader that can walk away from this book not feeling for this man. I really don’t think it’s possible. He’s way more than what he gives people initially. Together these two slowly create an amazing friendship that evolves into more.
Nikki Ash really created such a relatable story. I couldn’t get enough of the slow burn and the buildup from their amazing friendship to when they finally went beyond. Ash shows us how pride can really get in the way of life and that it’s totally ok to have people in our corners that our there for us. We can still lean on others while being on our feet. But this isn’t all just feelings and long loving sighs… oh no, Nikki Ash had me laughing out loud several times. She gives us a deep story… ie GOING DEEP but she gives us heart and smiles, and let’s not forget the heat level!! It feels like real life!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
