When Elizabeth Lancaster is kidnapped from a nature commune, she’s terrified for her life. She hadn’t expected her cover to be blown so quickly. But who is this huge, rock-solid guy who spirits her away to a secluded estate in the mountains? When she discovers the identity of her abductor, one thought burns through her outrage and frustration: What is the commando going to do to me?Caleb Trent’s … me?
Caleb Trent’s special-forces training didn’t prepare him for life with his beautiful captive. She’s more resourceful than he anticipated, always managing to stay one step ahead of him, and far too alluring for his peace of mind. Still, he’s determined not to let down his guard. She might be a lying conniver, but he’s duty-bound to see this mission through to the end.

Good read. Fun to follow the twists.
Enjoyable suspense story. Caleb is caught up in his assumptions, but what he has heard and what he witnesses after kidnapping Elizabeth don’t match up. I like how innovative she was.
A little flat but an okay read
Weird ending
great read. Hard time putting it down.
‘Going Commando’ is a great read! An original plot filled with interesting characters and just enough tension to keep the reader speculating about the next moves and, in my case, missing the better part of them!
I highly recommend this this book — it will take you to places and situations that Jack Reacher, Dallas Rourke, Chief Inspector Gamache, Anna Pigeon and a legion of other serial characters haven’t already explored. Well — perhaps Reacher, I can’t honestly say I’ve read the full works. But please, take my suggestion and dig into ‘Going Commando!’
Interesting combination of characters
this was a good read
Really enjoyed this book.
I just like the story and characters! I could not out it down
This was a very enjoyable read. The characters and what they went through was so realistically portrayed.
Unusual plot so very enjoyable…..not too predictable. Sexual tension kept the plot moving without having long detailed sex scenes using up the page count. I will be looking for further books by this author

GOING COMMANDO by Pamela Burford is a contemporary romantic suspense novel. Elizabeth joins a cult to investigate the supposed suicide of her friend, David. But before she can discover the truth, she is kidnapped by David’s brother. Caleb promised David he would look after Elizabeth, even though he blames her for his brother’s death.
This story has romance and intrigue and is an enjoyable read, with an exciting plot, but I had mixed feelings about this book.
At first, Elizabeth is intrepid and resourceful, but her character goes off the boil when she develops a shocking case of Stockholm syndrome. Which explains why she goes from hating Caleb to loving him in a matter of pages.
Caleb doesn’t trust Elizabeth or want anything to do with her until he sees her in a sexy nightie. Only then does he admits she has brains and guts, but he’s more interested in her boobs. And sticking his fingers in his ears and going la-la-la when she tries to explain he’s made some wrong assumptions about her.
Watching these two snark and snipe at each other is great fun until Caleb gets carried away and attempts to rape Elizabeth. He only stops when he realises she is a virgin because he “felt the constriction that told him he would be her first.” What a nice man! (I know this is fiction, but has this woman never had a smear test or used tampons before?)
The next day, Caleb suffers a few pangs of guilt, but Elizabeth experiences no psychological fallout. The wheels of love carry on turning while they concoct a plan to infiltrate the cult and find out what happened to Caleb’s brother.
From this point on, the story picks up, apart from a bizarre moment when they consummate their relationship with some rapey sex. In a garage. Just before their mission to break into the cult. The rest of the book is an action-packed romp with a will-they/won’t-they get together ending. Where you nearly forgive the forced sex aspects of the novel. Nearly.
Cult story
The story basis was pretty far fetched. It’s hard to believe she would forgive him after kidnapping her and fall in love with him.
DNF. Treatment of H against h unacceptable.
Poorly written. Weak story.
Silly plot.
So far every one of her books that I have read keeps me so entertained I do not want to put it down. Also, there is no way I can laugh quietly when she describes some of the antics of her characters. Good mix of laughter and romance.
Did not like language. I hate profanity and especially the f—word. First one I saw one, I deleted it from my Kindle.
