As Jane learns that monsters are real, that legends are truth, and that the man who saved her life is an immortal knight, it’s her secret past with the Angel of Death that changes everything. Gods & Monsters – Book OneWhen the plague of all plagues begins its destruction, it isn’t a miracle cure by scientists or even our military that saves us.No, our saviors are monsters.Jane appears to be … saviors are monsters.
Jane appears to be nothing special. In fact, she’s a sad sight to behold. Afflicted by the sorrow of her tragic past and failing marriage, the young mother of two is as terrified as every other soul when humanity faces doom. Yet, when hope seems lost, Jane does something even her estranged husband fails to–she fights. And she’s not alone.
David and his companions are what our world has dismissed as mere legend. Their duty to the human race brings them across the country, and they all know it is no coincidence when they cross paths with Jane.
As it happens, Jane is special. She’s destined to rid the world of darkness.
With monsters from every nightmare seeking her out, a noble immortal knight showing her what love truly feels like, a secret past that even Jane can’t remember, and even more powerful beings wagering the fate of her soul, Jane will embark on an epic journey to save her family and the world.
So what will happen when they realize she’s the greatest monster of them all?
If you’re looking for the perfect, fearless heroine who is never conflicted about anything, Jane isn’t your girl. She’s complex, emotional(she will cry), she has multiple mental/emotional disorders, and her heart pulled in different directions. She will stumble, huddle down just to hold herself together, but she will rise, and you will be in awe of the transformation she makes throughout the trilogy.
Book One is 155,000 words, but the entire trilogy is over 700,000. This is just the beginning. Each book completes a part of the whole journey but should be read in its entirety before judging fairly.
Warnings: Triggers for abuse, mental health disorders. Heavy violence, horror, strong language, emotional and controversial themes, sex, rape(not praised), will have multiple loves for the heroine.
Now, are you brave enough to take the journey?

Honestly, this is WAY better than a lot of ‘popular’ books in the same genre. The author, Janie Marie, has a way of creating a world that you wish you could be a part of, while keeping you hooked from start to finish. An amazing story that will take your emotions on a roller-coaster ride that you can’t help but love. Definitely a must read!
Gods and Monsters is an amazing, realistic, tragic, and comedic trilogy that has stolen my heart. I have never read a book like it and neither will any other reader, it is one of its kind and I love it! I’ve always looked for stories that guaranteed me a happy ending, a quick plot, a fine line between evil characters and good ones, one main focus, and one main couple. This has been the most CHALLENGING book I have ever read because it goes against everything I just mentioned. I started this first book with a set mind in how I wanted things to happen, and let’s just say none of those things happened and I was confused and frantic. Jane is the epitome of realistic, she is not one of those people who are given a simple background or past, given just a couple issues to deal with and then easily gets through it with just one fight. She has MULTIPLE issues and it takes her three books to get through them which makes her such a special heroine. Normal people don’t just get over depression, they don’t just get over rape, they don’t just get over loss or Death In just a month like many show. The thing about Gods and Monsters is that as a reader, you follow this woman every where and everyday without feeling like you are dragging along. Janie has given new meaning to understanding the characters. Readers feel EVERYTHING! They feel the hatred, the sadness, the excitement, the pain, the content, the peace, and the depression flowing off ALL the characters, not just Jane. And that is truly amazing. I find that a lot of authors tend to skip over other outside characters, but Janie doesn’t. This is also why I was confused throughout the first and second books, because I know what everyone is feeling and their true intentions which makes it hard to be angry at a character, especially if you’re as understanding and optimistic as I am.The amount of plot twists I’ve faced left me dazed and dumbfounded. Ive wanted to quit reading, take breaks, and throw the books several times. In the end, I was left feeling absolute peace, content, happy, and wondering g what to do with myself. I love this book with all my heart because it has changed the way I view life and shown me that every life can’t be a fairytale, but it can give you something more.
My favorite quotes from the G&M are (because I can’t just choose one!): “she woke up lived.” And, “you know,we came from stardust- so it’s entirely expected that we would return to stars when we die.”
Thank you, Captain Queen, for creating a world so remarkable and tragic and allowing me the opportunity of fallowing in love with characters I know you hold dear to your heart.
I think that Ms. Janie Marie is a wonderful author that has many great characters that people can very easily relate to and is so vivid in making you see just what she wants you to. She is a master and telling just enough until the right moment when she unleashes new information that both shocks you and makes you realize you should have seen it coming. I highly recommend this amazing author for her great works and what i am sure to be many more to come in the future
This is an amazing book, and I would definitely read it again and recommend it to others.
I love the uniqueness of this book. These weren’t your normal vampires that I honestly get tired of reading about. They were unique and strong, and they had weaknesses. Janie Marie was realistic when she wrote about her monsters.
Death was something else entirely. He wasn’t some sappy lover like other people might portray him when he’s with Jane. He’s still the monster that he wants to be viewed as.
I love the fact that Janie Marie added real problems to her book. Autistic children are very common, and not many people realize that. My little brother is autistic and he has sensory issues that make him not want to eat, and he has emotional highs and lows where he goes from being very hyper, to not talking or doing anything at all. It was a very welcome refresher to see someone write about the problems a lot of parents and families face with autistic children. I love that Janie Marie didn’t push aside Nathan’s needs throughout the book.
And lastly, I’m so happy that someone finally showed the real side of anxiety and depression. I, along with my brother, suffer from it daily. It never goes away and it’s something you deal with for the rest of your life. Janie Marie portrayed that in this book.
Oh, and more thing, I’m glad that Jason and Jane didn’t work things out. It’s nice to see that Janie Marie knows that relationships are toxic, and I feel this book, in a way, sets an example for those in bad, unhealthy, toxic relationships.
Janie Marie, keep up the great work. Your work is inspiring and motivating.
The world building is truly amazing. I fell in love with the characters along the way and it’s as if they exist. That they are real. 12/10 I recommend to anyone interested :))
So much to say about this magical piece of work. It’s not just for entertainment, and It’s not just about gods and monsters; it’s everyday life for anyone who’s suffering and giving them hope that they can overcome anything with time. It isn’t easy to get through and that’s the point because so is life.
All the characters are so well put together even though they are beautifully flawed, I love how this book just completely kept me on the edge of my seat all the time and I can’t wait to read more masterpieces written by Janie
