Winner of the Independent Press Award and the NYC Big Book Award, Goddess of the Wild Thing is a dramatic tale of one woman’s spiritual journey where magical happenings, unexpected turns of fate, and unseen forces impact her ability to love and be loved. Eve Sanchez, a scholar of esoteric studies, is driven into unreal dimensions of horror and hope as she encounters a seductive and frightening … man, criminal lawyer Sam Shear.
Sam introduces Eve to a supernatural world in which the wicked powers of a surrogate mother’s twisted affection threaten love and life. Struggling to sort through right from wrong, frightened yet determined, Eve nears despair.
In the mystic realm of Aztlan del Sur, a mythopoeic land of hidden horrors and guiding spirits, Eve, with three friends and a wise-old woman, is caught in an age-old struggle about love—whether bad love is better than no love— and discovers that love is a wild thing.

This was an interesting and intellectual story. Some of the description was repetitive but the story was engrossing. This was evil versus good. Eve was a strong person but she had her doubts which could have led to a different ending. I loved how the good women trusted in each other, relied on each other, yet were their own persons. I also enjoyed the bit of romance between Eve and Sam. I found the psychologic side just as interesting as the metaphysical side.
I received a copy of this story through Goddess Fish Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
This is a good story that revolves around love and finding the right person. Eve has always fallen for the wrong guy and when a chance meeting with Sam happens she has a feeling it will happen all over again.
Sam is a lawyer who is great at getting bad people off their charges. Does his jpb make him a bad person or will Eve see more to him than a ruthless lawyer.
Added into the story is a element of magicmagic and mystery when people start dying by what seems like natural causes but Eve knows dark magic is at work.
Its a great story filled with ups and downs as Eve and her friends try to figure out who or what is behind the killings at the same time as they try to navigate their own love lives. With them being guided by a spiritual being will they be able to find true love or only more problems and questions.
This book is an intriguing, compelling, thought-provoking, and engaging read!!
I liked the main and supporting characters as they seemed important for the story line and each added value to the book. I liked Eve best. She was a strong, smart, caring, thoughtful, compassionate woman. She has clearly had her struggles – both in love and life, but she continues to push forward.
A strong character development journey to root for and enjoy watching it unfold!
This book was filled with excellent plot obstacles that the main characters had to face. They were well constructed and thoroughly thought-out.
It’s clear that the author is well versed in love, affection, and drama as his day job is in psychology. The author brings the story down to a level that can easily be understood and enjoyed by all readers.
I was very intrigued by the story line and found the concept to be creative and innovative.
This book genre is marketed as a thriller book and yet the author found a way to throw in adventure, mystery, magic, paranormal, romance, intrigue, and suspense elements into the book. It definitely added a fascinating extra component to the story!
I loved that the author snuck hidden messages throughout the book. It really raised more questions and allowed other viewpoints and helped me see things in different ways. I don’t want to give away too many spoilers out, but some of the messages are about love, the true value of love, the hardships of love, and how far you’d go for love. I think many of us just throw that four-letter word out there and may not really think about what it truly means. Also, included themes are good vs evil and second chances.
The writing style is fluid, well developed, and at a steady pace.
This book is on the longer side at 199 eBook pages, but mostly direct. It does lavish on some details, but it is mostly to the point. For instance, I feel even though it was a long journey to the end, every chapter and scene was needed to make this book the success that it is.
There are some predictable scenes. However, there are still a few very unexpected twists and turns that you won’t see coming!
This book is not currently listed as part of a book series. It can be read as a standalone.
All in all, I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it! I think all thriller fans will like this book too! So, add it to your TBR List and get to reading – you won’t be disappointed!

Goddess of the Wild Thing: A Dynamic Spiritual Journey by Paul DeBlassie is a 3 star read.
This story was like nothing I’d ever read before, I will admit a lot of the story went over my head and I had to re-read some of it a few times for it to make sense and even then I only got about half of it. This author has a unique style of writing that will appeal to many readers unfortunately I wasn’t one of them. I would encourage people to try this book for themselves as this in only my opinion.
I will be honest, I was excited to read this after reading the synopsis of this book, but The Goddess of the Wild Thing was just a little too wild for me. The detail in the story was wonderful, and I loved the fantasy elements mixed with a little bit of thriller, but it was just a little bit too much for me, and I found it hard to focus and differentiate between descriptions and of present happening things. I can see how many would love this book, and It was good, I personally just had a hard time holding concentration with it. I think others would still find this enjoyable especially if you’re a fan of fantasy and thrillers and It has a good story it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
3 out of 5 stars.
Goddess of the Wild Thing starts off a little slow following the death of a dear friend, and then spirals into a wonderfully scary enchanting story. Paul definitely has a way with words! This book is a mix of real world problems and is mixed with magic and dark characters. I was thoroughly impressed with Paul’s attention to detail as the book went on. A wonderful story deserving of 5 stars!

“Goddess of the Wild Thing reveals the dramatic tale of one woman’s spiritual journey where metaphysical happenings, unexpected turns of fate, and unseen forces impact her ability to love and be loved.”
Great book really pulls you in! Following Eve through her journey with Sam is gripping with all the twists and turns in this story. Very Impressed with Mr. DeBlassie’s description throughout this story, it really helps you picture the Story and Characters in your head as you fall into the pages of this book, this story makes you want to keep reading and reading so you can find out how it all turns out. I look forward to reading more from Mr. DeBlassie in the future.
Goddess of the Wild Thing was a good story. Paul DeBlassie III did a phenomenal job at writing! There is some in-depth psychology stuff going on throughout, but especially in the beginning, and it was a little difficult for me to get in to at first. It’s a great psychological fantasy novel, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a first time fantasy reader. The novel picks up the pace about halfway through, but I had a lot of trouble in the beginning figuring out the plot, and the characters, and overall what was going on. It felt like I was just kind of dropped in the middle of a novel, and left to figure things out. But after the beginning, when the plot starts picking up and making sense, about halfway through, it gets much better! I am curious about reading other novels from DeBlassie in the future!
There is a lot of back story in the beginning, just be patient, its necessary. If you like the paranormal, the spooky, witch demon thing, then this is definitely a book for you. Ultimately it’s a story about good versus evil, and how love conquers all. In Goddess of the Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III, Sam and Eve are on a roller-coaster of emotion where nothing is as it seems and danger is everywhere. Mr. DeBlassie’s use of language is beautiful and almost poetic. I loved the flow of it.

Is a fantasy supernatural horror thriller mixture. This is a very unique novel and not like anything I’ve read before.
I absolutely love the descriptive writing in this book makes you feel like you have steeped into the book itself. Eve character ia great and the development is seen really well through this book. I enjoyed the time skips in this book at times i found it a little confusing and had to reread to make sure i waa following properly. Once you get into the meat of the story its a very gripping book that you don’t want to put down. You can feel a dark essence to this book within the supernatural element i would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys time going from past to present.
I really didn’t know what to expect when I picked up Paul DeBlassie III’s Goddess of the Wild Thing. It stands out from other books I have read as a rich paranormal fantasy that draws on spiritual and psychological ideas to create a fascinating world and gripping story.
DeBlassie’s descriptive writing particularly caught my attention, with the level of detail and vivid language used really painting a picture. At times, I felt this slowed down the progress of the story or made it hard to keep up, but at others it really painted a picture for me.
The central characters are a group of four women – Eve, Shirley, Tanya and Samantha. It’s nice reading a book where the characters are a bit older and have experienced more in their lives. The characters are strong and not afraid to disagree with each other which leads to some interesting conflicts. Although it’s a story about love, it’s good to have such a focus on friendships that outlast the ups and downs of romantic affairs.
For me, this is a four star book. I found it very interesting, and it was good to read something a bit different! I’d recommend it to fans of the paranormal who are after a book that will keep them on the edge of their seat.
Goddess of The Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III.
This genre is a little out of my norm. It is fantasy/paranormal. Even tho, it took me a little to get adjusted, I truly enjoyed it. This story is full of mystery and mystical magic and good versus evil. It definitely has a lot going on, and I really had to stay tuned in to keep up. It will definitely keep you wanting to finish to know the ending.
Goddess of the Wild Thing is a supernatural tale written by Paul Deblassie III. This is the first time reading this author’s work. It was interesting and original. The story was different to my usual reads. It was definately an energetic story that had many thrills and suspense.
Desire and danger lurked in the shadows, as Eve tries to navigate her way through love and life. Eve and her friends delight a reader with their tale of trying to solve the mystery of love in this paranormal mystery. With uncertainty and mayhem casting shadows over happiness and fulfillment, Goddess of the Wild was an intensely entertaining story that will keep a reader riveted until the very end.
Goddess of the Wild Thing was an interesting 4 star read.
It took me a little bit to get pulled into the story but once I did I couldn’t put it down until I was done. This is a romance with a mix of paranormal, fantasy and thriller.
Eve and her friends meet and reminisce about a friend they recently lost. Sam was great as well, he was hot and definitely got Eve’s attention. Eve hasn’t had the best of luck with men so she’s a little leary about men. Can Sam help her get past that?
The author is great with the detail of the story and you feel like you are there with them.
Be prepared for some twists and turns. The ending was not what I was expecting which left me pleasantly surprised. All of the characters added a great element to the story. We see different POV’s which I love so I can see what they are thinking and feeling.
Goddess Of The Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III is a fantastical journey about one women and her encounter with the supernatural.
Eve is thrust into a world of supernatural powers and battles when she meets Dam Shear. Introduced to a whole new world she finds herself swept up in a fight she knew bothering about.
As she gains new friends and allies while on her mission Eve soon realised that the battle isn’t really as complex as it had at first seemed. Really it came down to a battle for love. But is it a battle she would win?
I will be honest and admit that the front cover of this book almost put me off. There was just something about it that I found unappealing. But thank god I live by the old adage “Never judge a book by its cover” as I would have definitely missed out. This book was an interesting mix of magic and the supernatural. Initially I found the book a bit slow to get into but once I did I found myself carries away with the story. It was a book absolutely jam packed which certainly kept you, as the reader on your toes. A good read and worth a go.
Goddess of the Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III
Wow! This book was impossible to put down. The reader is immediately pulled into Eve’s world within the first few pages. I could not put this book down. So much happens so quickly in this book that it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I never knew what was coming. Such a great read and I highly recommend this book!
Goddess of the Wild Thing is the first book that I’ve read by Paul DeBlassie. I was surprised and impressed by this author’s ability to create a fantasy world that is believable.
It was refreshing to experience the growth of each character as the story progressed, but most importantly to see where their journey led them to. I have to say that I wasn’t expecting this book, or what it offered me. I liked that I couldn’t put it down, and had to keep reading. I’m more than looking forward to reading more by this author, and to see where this story leads to. Definitely a 4 Star Book for me.
Goddess of The Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III . This is the first book I’ve read of Mr. DeBlassie III and its not my regular genre but I have to say I was sucked right into this book. I feel like I was brought into a world I’ve never experienced. The story is about a girl named Eve who is searching for her love. She is also a budding witch so her search for love leads an evil witch right to her door. On her journey Eve meets Sam Shear who is a criminal lawyer and he scares her to death. The story of the 3 friends is really sweet and I loved how it evolved over time. Eve also has to decide if crazy love is better than no love at all. This story is busy and you have to pay attention or you can easily get lost but its so good. Read Goddess of The Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III you won’t be disappointed!
Goddess of the Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie
3 Stars
Paul DeBlassie has the capability of inventing worlds and describing things in minute detail. He is a psychologist who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and this influences his stories. The myths of Azlan are interwoven throughout his books.
This story is about Eve and her spiritual journey to overcoming the pain of unrequited love. Though she knows Sam is dangerous, she can’t help but be attracted. This causes a witch to take notice of her and the battle between good and evil begins.
The concept was interesting. My problem with the book was that it was confusing. The present, reality, otherworld and dreamworld were mixed together. I sometimes wouldn’t realize that we switched realities because it was all in the same paragraph. This happens constantly throughout the book. It also took me awhile to realize the witch was alive because up until that moment I thought she was a spirit living in a mirror.
I did like the fact that the author referenced his other book The Unholy in this one. It connected the two stories to make his world seem more real. If you pay attention, you’ll enjoy the book seeing as the story is interestingly filled with magic and Native American folklore.
