Winner of the Independent Press Award and the NYC Big Book Award, Goddess of the Wild Thing is a dramatic tale of one woman’s spiritual journey where magical happenings, unexpected turns of fate, and unseen forces impact her ability to love and be loved. Eve Sanchez, a scholar of esoteric studies, is driven into unreal dimensions of horror and hope as she encounters a seductive and frightening … man, criminal lawyer Sam Shear.
Sam introduces Eve to a supernatural world in which the wicked powers of a surrogate mother’s twisted affection threaten love and life. Struggling to sort through right from wrong, frightened yet determined, Eve nears despair.
In the mystic realm of Aztlan del Sur, a mythopoeic land of hidden horrors and guiding spirits, Eve, with three friends and a wise-old woman, is caught in an age-old struggle about love—whether bad love is better than no love— and discovers that love is a wild thing.

Paul DeBlassie III was a completely new author to me when I picked up Goddess of the Wild Thing. I was drawn in by the eye-popping cover art and the minimal but gripping description of the novel. I will not lie, I really wanted to love this book. I had high hopes but it just fell short for me. I had a really hard time wanting to push through the first 30% of the novel. It just was very slow to build up and get to that point where I was hooked. Once it did though, it was a solid four star read.
In Goddess of the Wild Thing we get the story of Eve. Now Eve has not had much luck in the love department. She struggles with the day to day monotony that most can relate to. Everything will change when she meets Sam. Will Sam be the one that will break her bad luck with love? What will happen to her everyday life when he introduces her to a whole new supernatural world?
Overall there is several different things going on in this book. We have the love triangle of sorts, fantasy and sci-fi type scenarios, and of course the ideals of good vs. bad, and good love vs. bad love. What will ultimately win out in the end? You will have to read for yourself to see just how it all comes together in the exploding final chapters.
Goddess of The Wild Thing is a rich novel. It features many twists and turns as the main protagonist, Eve, struggles to beat her foe whilst also battling her feelings for a man. This book is soaked in mythology and it’s clear how much research was put into it. The characters are all fleshed out, even the minor ones, and they never let the plot down. It’s richly detailed.
Goddess Of The Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III is a mix of paranormal and fantasy. The book was not at all of what I expected. I found it really hard to read and to get into. I normally can relate to characters in almost any book but I had hard time to relate to the characters in this one. It was still a nice read I just expected more from it.

This paranormal, mystery/thriller novel by Paul DeBlassie is not my normal speed of novel but I was very surprised with this book. It was difficult for me to follow at times, and I found myself rereading a lot of passes to wrap my head around what was going on, but overall this was a solid paranormal thriller. This book holds a lot and here is a lot of action packed in to some shorter scenes. Scenes that I felt could have been expanded upon, but the author was conveying a serious amount of detailed information and I am not sure if drawing the scenes out would have benefited the story in any way. The author has a fantastic way of keeping you highly engaged in the book and I was beyond captivated. The character of Eve, I did enjoy, She was very well written. She is strong and the Author did amazing job allowing her the opportunity to grow and develop. I recommend this book for those who love mystery/thrillers and paranormals.

The story Goddess Of The Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III is a book that I loved reading. It pulled me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. It takes you on a journey that includes dreams and also the supernatural. There are parts that are thrilling and had me wondering what was going to happen next. Eve and her friends are my favorite characters in the story. Eve is a woman who has not had much success with love and relationships. She is beautiful, intelligent, and sensitive. Sam Shear is a man that has been unable to stop thinking about Eve since he met her. He is a criminal lawyer who rarely loses cases. Visions, nightmares, curses, and rituals play a part in the telling of this tale. Add in another character that is selfish, manipulative, and evil and you soon realize that there is danger to be faced. Read to find out what happens to Eve and Sam. The author does a wonderful job of building a world that you want to get to know more about. I loved reading about the lands and realms that are described. This is a well-written story that you won’t want to miss out on reading.
