This is the continuation of the previous three books, Queen of Clockwork (Kingdom of Fairytales Alice in Wonderland Book 1), Heiress of Delusion (Kingdom of Fairytales Alice in Wonderland Book 2), and Throne of Cards (Kingdom of Fairytales Alice in Wonderland Book 3). They should be read first in order to fully enjoy this, which picks up September 2 a few seconds after midnight as the Hearts with spears surround the crowd dancing in front of the Pinnacle clock and advance on them. A battle rages, beautiful, unbeautiful, vampires, city guard against the implacable Hearts. Alice and Gaia set out for Urbis to confront the Queen of Hearts. On the way, they meet their other siblings, and I hope Zara Quentin and J.A.Armitage will publish the books 49-52 that complete the story because it ends in a tense cliffhanger.
Diving right onto the mess from the end of the previous installment, this book takes a surprising turn and it is up to Ivy and her friends to puzzle out what they are up against before it is too late! Maybe the tragedy did have a benefit after all as the city works together as never before. They are forced to deal huge societal changes and a nightmare from their past. Oh and some really sweet romantic moments are stolen here and there.
Again, I enjoyed seeing Ivy and Gaia interacting together and the unique perspective this adds to the story! The ending was similar to all the previous arc in this series with the immediate threat contained, but a bigger one still brewing. The golden eyed orphans are heading off to Urbis – but wait, the group seems to be taking a detour to OZ! I’ve been looking forward to this one.
Even though new and new puzzle pieces are appearing, Ivy is determined to solve all mysteries surrounding the Forge, and with great efforts and joined forces with Raven, Gaia, and Mr. Lapin, some of the puzzle pieces are finally starting to fall in places. However, the outcome is more than shocking, it shakes the ground under Ivy’s feet – and quite literally, in the end. Alice can’t avoid addressing the topic anymore, and the Forge is forced to look into a mirror to see the ugly reality under the beautiful surface. Uniting the races is a big step to take, but would it be enough to stop the return of the Queen of Hearts?
Amazing conclusion to this brilliant steampunk miniseries full of action and suspense, intense emotions, and lots of surprising twists. It’s packed with everything a good story needs in just a few pages, making the reading experience intense and really pleasurable. I really enjoyed watching the development in all areas – politics, mindset, personal struggles, relationships, romance – and want to see Ivy reunited with Raven again in the end.
Goddess of hearts is the fourth and final book in the Alice in Wonderlands arc.
The Queens robots invaded Melfand, both of the beautiful and unbeautiful stand together to push them out of town. But who’s is given order to the Hearts? And for what purpose? Ivy is continuing to investigate the truth, rumors that the Queen is back might not just be rumors after all. And her mother will revealed a secret that she’s been hidding from her since she’s born.
I have really loved this series and can’t wait to see what’s coming next. I have received an arc of this book from the authors.
Ivy is beginning to question so much in this book as truth starts to become known. Can’t wait to read book number 4 to know how this all turns out.
The town pulls together and works as one but Ivy still has questions and too few answers. She has her work cut out for her. Her story temporarily closes but the story is not over
