God-Shaped Hole will change you as a reader, writer and human. It is rare books like this one that remind me why I fell in love with the written word.
I loved this book. I recommend it hard!
“If your intentions are pure I’m seeking a friend for the end of the world”
The first line just pulled me in.How can you resist an invitation to perhaps meet your soulmate and hold hands to walk till the end of the earth-!!
I’ve been thoroughly impressed by Tiffanie ever since I read How To Kill A Rockstar. Her unique ability to peek into creative artists lives and dwell upon their joys, sorrows, struggles, accolades, their harsh truths and their tragic lives just amazes me.
I became an instant fan when I met Paul Hudson in the first book. By the end of the snotty- ugly-crying saga, I was worshipping every word she dropped like pearls. Hogging them like precious gems they were, I jumped to read this book, knowing fully well, I was in for a ride on the ocean of tears. I was ready for the story to lift me high, then throw me on the ground, grind me under it’s heel and pulp my heart to a mush.
This book slay my heart. End of!.
No recovery.
No respite.
No closure.
It’s open ended in the sense that life goes on, but only in body. Spirit once damaged is hardest to repair.
I missed my unforgettable friend. The days will always be brighter because he existed. The nights will always be darker because he’s gone. And no matter what anybody says about grief, and about time healing all wounds, the truth is, there are certain sorrows that never fade away until the heart stops beating and the last breath is taken.
A poignant take of two emotionally stunted people who find each other by a twisted quirk of fate.
An ad in the paper catches Beatrice Jordan’s eye ….
If your intentions are pure I’m seeking a friend for the end of the world
Answering it brings her face to face with a writer- Jacob Grace. The first 120 seconds into the meeting changes her life for ever. They are the most in-tandem couples I’ve ever read. Their likes, dislikes, adventurous spirit, ambitions, courage and strength just match perfectly like two pieces of jigsaw puzzle
“I feel like we grew in the same womb or something. Like we’ve been connected from the beginning by blood and veins. Siamese soul lovers, if there could ever be such a thing.”
Jacob and Trixie are hopelessly in love, vulnerable to wounds and scathes. They both share cruel fates of abandonment.
Their souls missing vital pieces of something they both are searching for, wandering like restless travellers who don’t belong anywhere.
“It’s like I’d been missing something my whole life, but I didn’t know it wasn’t there until it was too late.
That ever-present, God-shaped hole.”
It’s the most eloquent, most endearing and the most annihilating story I’ve read this year. The sharp, jagged edged words just cut you to the bone and I was left clutching the book close to my pained heart, bawling to the God or his lesser minions to give me my breath back cause I was all choked up. Every word was like a rip-tide, dangerously pulling me under, till by the end I was completely submerged. Tiffanie has a sadistic penchant for cruelly twisting the dagger in your gut, the pain just keeps on coming in waves, unrelenting and murderous.
Yet amidst all she let’s the characters work on their bond, their relationship with silly banter, fun teasing, and some very sexy, fruity times
Tiffanie writes with passion, her feelings are projected on her characters. Packed with powerful emotions and voluptuous in details, she makes it a point to pay acute attention to peripheral characters in the background too. Inner monologues are funny, sassy and sarcastic, they add dimensions to the characters.
I’m an utterly devoted fan, cannot wait for the third book!
One thing I’d like to mention here. I’ve seen so many authors rise, sustain, some decline, their attitudes shooting through the roof, snobbery kicking out humility pretty fast, their entourage exceeding the sales or number of books instantly.
Tiffanie is among the elite few who still answers every pm personally and instantly.
I sent her my crying mugshot after Rockstar and she told me she’d saved it as a screensaver for her inspiration for her third book. I know she’s quite wealthy and influential in real life, has a record company and does So much philanthropic work around the globe. Yet she always takes out time to reply to all my pathetic fangirl messages…everytime!!!!
Her simplicity, humility just floors me.
And I can’t wait to hug her in Virginia this year and hopefully fill my Jacob shaped Hole
6 massive stars for Amazing Grace
This was a very unusual book but I just wanted to keep on reading. I feel like there was truth in the words and I think it was very original.
