I really loved this YA fantasy story. I enjoyed learning the differences between Sol and Stella. A deadly prophecy was revealed to the people of Stella and now the Stella young prince must travel to Sol. In Sol, we meet a rebellious, and sometimes whiny princess. She’s not ready to take her role as Queen. Which is very understandable. I really enjoyed the relationship she had with Luna. It was really adorable how much she cared for her and overtime my opinion changed when it came to the princess. We see character development and complexly characters as the book progressed. I really enjoyed the interaction with the Sol prince and Stella princess a lot. There is also a “voice” in Sol territory that guides its citizens to do no harm, until midnight when all its citizens are locked inside their homes. I found the idea of the intriguing especially when it comes to how it operates. Will the prince of Stella be able to save his family from a deadly prophecy? Check out this magical and fantasy series to find out.
The narrator, Angel Clark did a wonderful performance and she certainly kept me intrigued and listening to the story. While she used a variety of tones and inflections, I wish she would have used a different tone for the “voice” and the “queen”. I felt like those two were very similar and I had to listen carefully to not confuse the two. But overall, I really did enjoy the narrator. She was perfect for the princess and played her well.
Audiobook review:
God of the Sun (Stella and Sol Book 1)
This is the first audio in this ya urban fantasy series that takes you on an epic journey of a whole new world with a dark prophecy. I actually read this series but loved it so much I wanted to listen to it. The audio begins with a prophecy given by the old mother. A captivating novel that is beautifully scripted with no inconsistencies. The world building descriptions & settings are well defined & detailed. The main & supporting characters are compelling with complex characteristics. “The Voice” reminded me of OZ from Wizard of Oz and I absolutely loved it. The author creates a world that pulls you in & keeps you engaged all the way to the end & leaves you wanting more. This ends with a cliffhanger that will have you craving more, but all books are available in audio to listen.
Narator Angel Clark’s naration was smooth & polished. Character’s were given their own distinct voice. I absolutely loved “the voice” the way it sounded and the ambience around it. Her inflection was perfect and everything flows through smoothly and right pace.
I highly recommend listening to this audio and look forward to listening to the next audio in this intriguing ya urban fantasy series.
In spite of some issues with hero-swapping, the story was unique enough to keep me wanting to read more. I think this author will end up being quite good. I’ll keep an eye on future work.
The main female character needs developing. The main male character is not in the book enough to understand his motivation
