This was a really fun read.
Liked it
My first read from author P.D. Workman, although I own several of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one and after I’d acquired Auntie Clem’s Bakery #3 I wanted to read the first two books in the series before reading it, I really don’t like to read books out of sequence. Gluten Free Murder is extremely well written, the characters well developed. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book. After reading this book I now know much more about gluten free than I did before and why it’s such a big deal. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
The cast of small town characters come straight from my own small town heritage: kind although cruel in gossip, friendly although judgmental, and steady although stubbornly traditional.
It took a bit to get into this book but glad I kept reading. The whole town seems filled with suspicious ladies who may be the culprit so take your pick
I won’t be reading any more books by this author.
Quite the page turner, very unexpected and exciting ending. I was swept up in the story from the very beginning.
Enjoyed this cozy mystery. Erin moves to Bald Eagle Falls after inheriting her aunts home and tea shop, which had been closed for years, with plans to open a gluten-free bakery. After a murder takes place in her newly opened bakery, Erin finds herself a prime suspect … and the center of small town gossip.
Pastries to die for!
Erin Price has returned to Bald Eagle Falls a town she has not seen since her childhood visits to her Aunt Clementine. In her will, Aunt Clementine has left her the small Tea Shop she owned and operated and her home. Erin is opening a specialty bakery that will cater to the needs of people with gluten and other food sensitivities. Everything is going pretty well with her grand opening until she discovers her main competitor dead in the basement and she is considered the prime suspect by Officer Terry Piper and his dog K9.
This was a fun read with some possible romance in the future. I liked the interaction between K9 and Officer Piper and Erin. The characters are likable and the plot has some good twists. I received a free copy but my review is voluntary.
I was very impressed with story because it showed the main character, Erin Price showing compassion for someone she didn’t know, Vicky that needed help and in return they helped each other. Erin Price moves to Eagle Falls, a place where everyone knows everyone as well as everyone else’s business, taking over the store left to her by her aunt to start up a gluten-free bakery. The grand opening is marred by just one thing, the death of her business rival, Angela Plaint who owns the other bakery in town but doesn’t work there anymore. It appears that Angela was poisoned by one of Erin’s cupcakes, making her a prime suspect.
Vicky helps Erin in the bakery and solving the mystery of who murdered Angela Plaint. Erin goes head-to-head against Detective Terry Piper to solve the murder but Erin puts herself in danger without listening to Detective Terry Piper. Many rumors make it hard to figure out who the real murderer is as Erin tries to sort the clues from the red herrings and find the killer before the killer can take care of her.
Received a free copy for a review. I liked the story and the characters. A great introduction to a new series.
