Lieutenant Eve Dallas never wavers in her search for justice. But in this gripping novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series, she’ll learn that matters of the heart are never black and white. The first victim was found lying on a sidewalk in the rain. The second was murdered in her own apartment building. Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas had no problem finding connections between the … finding connections between the two crimes. Both victims were beautiful and highly successful women. Their glamorous lives and loves were the talk of the city. And their intimate relations with men of great power and wealth provided Eve with a long list of suspects—including her own lover, Roarke. As a woman, Eve was compelled to trust the man who shared her bed. But as a cop, it was her job to follow every lead…to investigate every scandalous rumor…to explore every secret passion, no matter how dark. Or how dangerous.

This is the second book in the IN DEATH series and it picks up a few months after the end of NAKED IN DEATH. In this story Eve and Roarke are still finding their way around each other after admitting their love in Book 1. In this story Eve must investigate the murder of a high profile city official and her investigations reveal a possible to connection to someone close to her at work. Roarke and Eve are still trying to find balance in their relationship and Eve is trying to figure out a life that now has Roarke in it. She’s used to being alone and having work be her sole focus, but that’s changing with every day she spends with Roarke. A page turner and interesting crime investigation. This will keep you reading to see how the relationship with Eve and Roarke grows and whether they will truly commit to each other.
Eve and Roarke make a great team. Gritty and fast-paced, the crimes escalate until the big, black moment at the end of the book. Eve sets herself up as bait to trap the killer, but when the wrong woman is sliced, ear to ear, she has to deal with guilt. I liked the interaction between Feeney, Eve, and their superiors. And Roarke always know what to do to set things right with Eve. My one complaint–I felt jostled from scene to scene. I’m a fan of transitions, but they didn’t happen. The villain of this story was worth turning pages for, though, and the ending was perfect.
All of J D Robbs books are awesome. I have read them all.
The first 2 “In Death” books got me forever hooked on Dallas and Roarke. Two characters who were fated to meet, fall in love (regardless of Eve’s attempts not to), and solve crime (much to Roarke’s dismay). This is the best series I have ever read and the only books I pay full price for and pre-order. A must read!
LOVE IN DEATH series. I own all of them and there are a lot of them. 50 plus. If you haven’t read them give them a try. Some people say I don’t read futuristic books. The are written in 2060 not so much in the future. Each book is a stand alone but I would recommend reading in order because the main characters relationship grows in each book. Also only a very short time passes from one book to another. I have read them again (binge read) while recovering and it was great. Time went by faster.
I absolutely love each and every one of these ID books!! The growth of the characters;the action and the humor! Winner all the way!!!!

I think I’ve found a new series! Love the “In Death” (even though it’s only my second) series. I love Eve because she’s not the perfect cop or woman, that she has scars and that she doesn’t believe herself worthy of Roarke’s love or anyone else’s. The stories are very good thrillers and it’s hard to guest either the who did it or the why they did it. I’m happy that this series will last for awhile (40 books)
Great mysteries in an interesting future. Eve and Rourke are unbeatable!
I truly enjoy reading all of Nora Roberts books to include her J. D. Robb series. I love the story line in each of her In Death Series. Roarke and Eve are a wonderful pair who compliment each other. I love how they met and how there story continues to unfold throughout the books. Love Glory in Death!
A good story that evolves well from book one.
Roarke and Eve’s relationship hits a bump but progresses. We get a working relationship developing between Eve and Nadine the reporter.
The indomitable Peabody makes her first appearance.
I have owned, read and reviewed these books previously but my reviews are missing.
This is probably my third or fourth time reading this series.
I have owned most of these books in paperback for years but now have them all in eBook format, so I am rereading this series once more in order, updating and replacing missing reviews.
Even knowing what is in the future, it is absolutely no hardship to reread this series and I am really enjoying how all the characters are growing and changing.
I have also listened to the audio book versions as well.
Can’t say enough about this author and her writings. The best. It’s been a long time since I read this book and look forward to more books about Eve and the crew.
Love Dallas and RoArne together!
A series that has me fascinated. I don’t think I’ve missed one even though of them make my imagination run wild. Great characters, strong story lines and an imagivative future make great reading.
All of jd robb’s books are very well written very entertaining and I’ve read most of them over a few times and will again
Love this series. Do yourself a favor and read the whole series and start at number one. You won’t be sorry!
Second of the Eve Dallas novels, introduction of friend- and partnerships. Great smarmy villain. Good, fun reading as usual with J.D. Robb.
