Do you enjoy the holiday season? I often think it goes too quickly and is way too busy. In the past few years I’ve made a concentrated effort to slow the season down and have more enjoyable moments for my children. But I don’t always have the slow down I crave because I’m busy making it memorable for my children.
This devotional is wonderful for helping you remember to truly think on the reason for the season and enjoy it as it’s going through. I will be keeping this book around for reading each year to help me remember to slow down and reflect.

From the beautiful cover of the book to the fifty devotionals in the book, this devotional provides the perfect book for the holiday season. Designed to be started the week before Thanksgiving through Christmas into the new year. During the holidays, we find ourselves easily distracted and caught up in the “busyness” of the season. This book provides a way to help center us on the real meaning of the season.
With a passage of Scripture included, along with a devotional selection, a prayer, and thoughts for reflection, the two authors provide the perfect way to focus on the true meaning of the season. Starting with giving God thanks at Thanksgiving to Christmas and the birth of our Saviour, and into the new year for new beginnings, I feel you should check out this devotional for yourself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

Glimpses of the Savior, 50 Meditations for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year, is a lovely holiday devotional by authors Shirley Crowder and Harriet E. Michael. During a time when our lives start to be busy with preparations for gatherings and dinners, these devotions offer a chance to get readers back on track and focus on Jesus. This is a much needed addition to my devotional collection.
There are fifty devotions included in this lovely book. It is meant to begin one week before Thanksgiving to carry you through the New Year. The first thing that drew me to it was the gorgeous, serene cover. The book is divided into ten sections with topics of The Crispness of Fall, Here Come the Holidays, and Keeping Christ in Christmas, just to name a few. These sections are divided into five chapters to concentrate on a certain aspect of the season.
Both authors are children of missionaries or MK for short. They have an open style of writing that is like chatting with a friend over coffee. There was an immediate connection to both authors. I was encouraged and enlightened by their devotions. They each have a relatable, open style of writing that is engaging.
The chapters start with a scripture, then have the devotional story, a prayer, and a reflective thought. This is nice for individual reading or even a group if you need a devotion. This book would make a sweet gift before Thanksgiving. Many people need a little more of Jesus and calm and a lot less stress.
I highly recommend this book. Grab yourself a copy and start your holiday mornings with a few minutes of devotional time that will point your heart toward Jesus. Pick up a few copies as gifts and share it with others. I rate this a 5 out of 5 stars. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit, but these are my honest words.

This is written as a devotional book for the fall and winter holidays, but I read it straight through and enjoyed peeking into the lives of the authors, especially their childhood in Africa on the mission field. For example, the one about taking decorations off the Christmas tree offered a lesson about the sin that may hide in our lives just as an ornament can remain hidden in the tree branches. I like how they pull spiritual insights from everyday life and make them easily applicable for readers. The ones relating to Christmas helped me start feeling in the mood for this holiday highlight of the year. The book’s ten chapters each contain five days of messages on the weekly theme, with a suggested Bible passage to read and a quoted verse, and conclude with a prayer and a thought for the day. The authors take turns sharing thoughts and experiences, with a similar writing style, as they see God at work in their everyday lives and share these life lessons and biblical principles. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

Each devotion begins with a short scripture passage to read on your own, but it also included a highlighted verse or two from the passage. I love the flexibility this gives the readers. Devotions are also broken into sections relating to various themes of the season leading up to Christmas. With a prayer and a thought for the day included with each day’s reading, it’s easy to see how to personally apply the themes to daily life.
The real-life stories the authors include are a wonderful way to introduce each day’s meditation. They draw the reader in and give them a place to connect with the author’s experience and spiritual point. And the stories are woven seamlessly into the spiritual application for each day.
With practical devotions to turn minds and hearts to truths for the season, I give this devotional 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book through Celebrate Lit. The thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a wonderful collection of thoughts and encouraging words to read during this stressful time of year. We get so busy with stuff that we forget what this time is really for. I have never been a fan of holidays because of trauma during childhood. As the years go by, I have become more focused on spending time with my family and less of the gift giving, feast to be prepared and chaos that the holidays can bring.
This book is refreshing and easy to read. I like the scriptures used and how readers can go back in the Bible and study them a bit deeper. There is also a prayer at the end of each chapter and a thought for the day. I like how it is divided into different subjects that we can all relate to. This would be a good addition to the church library and also for your own personal library at home.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
