Romantic suspense at its best! You keep rooting that Nick and Angela get together, and stay together.
Good, different read
The best part of this book was the unsuspected guilt of one character. I loved the cover! FBI look for sure.
Not like most romance books, this one did contain a plot, and I liked that. I want something more than jumping in and out of bed!
This might be titalating to some for the
Sex scenes but not well written overall.
Absolutely couldn’t put this book down, it was awesome
This book is an ok read. A bit slow for me but certainly and nice rainy afternoon or quick beach read.
Although this book can absolutely be read as a standalone, we first meet FBI agent Nick Farley in Stone Walls. For me, there was always something about him that had me just begging for more about him so I was so excited to read his own story.
This book starts out two years ago when Nick Farley was an undercover agent in Chicago. He was working as a bartender at a bar that was covering up some illegal activity. He was super focused on the case and had put his heart and soul into it. Nothing would ever take his focus 100% away. That is until he meets Angela Cavello. From the moment he say her outside of the bar on her way in, he was a goner. Once he met her, he knew she was the right girl for him. Problem was, he was undercover and leaving Chicago in a matter of days.
Angela Cavello’s past relationship was a nightmare that she was desperately running away from. She has already put plans in motion to get out of Chicago. When her cousin drags her to the bar to convince her to start living her life again, the last thing she expected was to meet someone who would completely consume her thoughts.
Even though they both know that they can’t make anything out of it, they can’t stop the overwhelming attraction that they have for each other. Eventually they give in for one night of all consuming passion. However, that passion turned into so much more after that one night and they begin to open up. They make promises to each other to stay together and move forward. Only that promise is broken by Angela and Nick is forced to move on.
Two years later, Angela’s past puts her back into Nick’s life. Will their feeling for each other overcome the pain and secrets that have been between them for the past couple of years or will it override that and allow them to start over?
One of the main issues I had in the beginning was the insta-love. And like always, that’s a personal preference. Honestly what I think helped me to get over it was the angst of the two year separation.
What I really enjoyed what that we still got the drama from the FBI casework with some interesting plot twists. I also enjoyed the emotions that both Nick and Angela went through. They were raw, hopeful, vulnerable, passionate, confusing and angry. And every single of of those emotions were exactly what anyone would feel at that time in the situation that they were in. It made it more honest and relatable. Add in an over the top couple as secondary characters who are hilarious and you get just about everything.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and can see that there is more character growth out there. *Shameless begging for David’s story right here!* I hope we get more.
“That New Year’s Day with her was the best day of my life. That’s what our relationship was reduced to, one day of bliss, followed by a few months of angst, followed by nothing…cold, hard, one dimensional nothing.”
A.M. Madden’s Glass Ceilings is a terrific blend of romance, suspense, and angst. This story had me going through every emotion possible- happiness, sadness, frustration, anger, joy. It pulled me in from the beginning, and I was captivated until the very last word. Nick and Angela’s journey to find love and happiness wasn’t an easy one…it was full of trials and tribulations, secrets and sadness, sorrow and heartache. But through everything they went through, through the years they were torn apart, their connection and their intense love for each other never waivered.
I really, thoroughly enjoyed this story, even though it hit on a couple of tropes that I normally tend to shy away from-the secret baby and major lack of communication on either the part of the h or H. But for this book, for this storyline, the fact that Angela kept the news of his son from Nick, and that she did not fill him in on her exes family life, was completely believable and understandable for me…and as hard as it was to know Nick missed out on such an important part of baby Nicholas’s life, totally forgivable. I think A.M. Madden handled what can be a touchy subject perfectly.
There is nothing I love more than a strong, dominate, alpha male with a softer, more vulnerable side…I have found the perfect speciman in Glass Ceilings’ Nick Farley.
