In the arena, I stood alone. All were petrified. Now I can’t rise in the ranks without a mate by my side.Suddenly all those lonely nightsPolishing my axe for those who done me wrongDidn’t seem so strong.Without my mate, I don’t know how to get along.Oh, because I?I will survive.I’ll claim my fated mate. And she will be my bride. She makes me strong.Hell, she taught me how to sing this song. But in the … bride.
She makes me strong.
Hell, she taught me how to sing this song.
But in the end will we learn how to get along?
(Sung to the tune of ‘I Will Survive’)
Gladiator to Mate You is the first book in the Champions of Ataxia science fiction romance series within the wider Athenaverse. It can be read as a standalone, but it shares the same universe that you’ve found in other books. This book features a romance of an alpha male alien gladiator, a smart, sassy human woman. Fans of Marauder Mates will like the opposing crew that features some characters from the wider Athenaverse. No cheating and HEA guaranteed!

This was a very interesting and enjoyable beginning to learn about the flip side of Athenaverse. So far her books have been about the trials of the Alliance, this deals with the Coalition. The Coalition is tired of the war and the high taxes to support it so they decide to form their own version of the Alliance’s Penetrator team. Bonn who been trained as a companion is matched with Brax, a champion Odex pit fighter that was recruited by the Coalition. Bonn’s influence is suppose to help him be grounded as they are assigned a ship with their pilot Tur, to find out who is going around destroying clinics on planets and killing innocent people. What incurs is another space adventure with romance, action and endearing characters to root for. I’ll be curious to see where the other books go from here. I LOVE this book!!!
Very well written. Super funny too. I MOST DEFINITELY recommend this book to anyone. Even if you aren’t a big fan of books about aliens but you like to laugh, read this. Totally worth it!!
So far, the stories have been centered around the Alliance. As we know, there is always two sides to a conflict and here is where we start with the Coalition’s side. Gurtal and his crew on the Penetrator have made quite an impression on the Coalition command. Now they want their own Black Ops crew. Brax is a well-renowned gladiator and the first to be recruited. The Companion, Bonn, the brass contracted for him was not at all what I expected a Companion to be. Brax is like putty in Bonn’s hands and he feels things deeply. Of course the pilot is a cocky, instigator with a huge ego who is in prison. So, of course there’s a prison break so they can complete their first assignment. So far both of the Odex males we’ve met have been nothing like the Alliance described them as. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Brax was a champion fighter and bored. He was recruited and would be receiving a Companion (Bonn), who would help balance him out. There is much between them that they cannot deny. Read on to follow Brax and Bonn on their adventure. Edge of your seat action at times and hot love scenes also. Great read.
The first book in the Champions of Ataxia series a great start to a new series, I want to read the next book. Does Gorn really think he can do that? This is Brax, Bonn with Tur’s story with suspense, drama, danger, and romance between Bonn and Brax. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Coalition realized they needed their own skilled team to counter the Alliance and Brax was the first recruit. The offer was temptress but there were specifications and he was saddled with a human Companion, to his dismay. Skilled in the arts of seduction, Bonn’s time at the Companion Academy was past and she has her new partner. Whether she agreed or not with the choice didn’t matter she was ready for her duty. They will ride an amazing and thrilling adventure. A strong and lever-minded woman who knew what she had to do and a violent, testosterone full alien that opened his heart and fell for her. Liked how Brax and Bonn complemented each other, the impossible mission they had to carry out and of course, the funny Tur that kept me chuckling with his nutty comments and occurrences. Intrigued with Gorn’s character and eager for more of the future teammates. An interesting, entertaining and amusing story that I enjoyed.
The other side of the story…
Up until now, the theme has been Alliance good, Ataxia bad. Well, buckle up because this book may change your whole perception of which is which!
Brax is the reigning champion in the arena when he is conscripted into the spying game and given Bonn, a Companion. They are tasked with finding out what Gorn is really up to, and it’s a doozy! The view from their stance looks quite different from the heroes we’ve been cheering for up to now.
