Lashley has created quirky characters, yet the bonds among Glad friends, even with the dramamine, body odor, and beer, are enviable. If you like a story that has every possible twist of human interaction – the good, the bad, the ugly, the humorous – you will enjoy this book and the journey as Val finds Glad’s daughter. As much women’s fiction as anything else, there is a mystery to solve. And the solution isn’t necessarily expected.
Wacky characrers” fun, quick read!
What a delight! I didn’t know what to expect when Val came back to the states but it certainly wasn’t anything like I expected. It was funny, it was sad, it was serious but most of all it just makes you want to read the next in the series. Margaret Lashley gives you a main character that you really wish was your best friend. Thanks!!
Val moves back to the United States after her third divorce. Being down and out, she goes to the beach and meets a homeless woman named Glad. Glad was like a mother to Val so when she dies, Val pays for her burial. Then she meets three homeless men, Winky, Jorge, and Goober along with a police officer, Tom, who all help her find Glad and her husband Tony’s child after finding that Tony, too, had been dead. Some evil people were trying to take all of the child’s inheritance. I love this story and the characters are fantastic.
She did it over good this time.
What a smile great read. Well written with quirky characters that support the storyline and plot. Investigation was a big part of the book and the ending was a major twist I didn’t see coming. Really enjoyed and a HEA.
This one made me laugh out loud. I could really relate to Val, and her social circle really made me stop and think. I loved the way that the story read like a journal. It sucked me in from the very first page and didn’t let go. I’m not going to give any details of this story because I believe everyone should read it for themselves. You will not be disappointed, I promise! I will be following Margaret Lashley as she continues her writing career.
