When I first started the series I thought it was going to be another 50 shades of grey…I was VERY happy to find out differently
This was a great book to read as it was entertaining.
Seemed somewhat interesting at first, but quickly sank into maudlin and depressing.
Wow, quite a build up….then….
So frustrated right now! I started this book via Audible. Then I got so into it, I pulled out my kindle to read it.
Both versions are great, but I couldn’t stop. Once that wicked man has you, you can’t avoid his grasp…
Mia has been let down, shit on, and run over in her life. She has zero to nil trust in men…because she’s been shit on and run over. She can’t work up the enthusiasm to deal with her ex. She has no desire to go back to that mess. But he won’t leave her alone. Add to that the sexy man in the park and Mia is a busy girl. Except really she wants nothing to do with either because both spell Trouble. With a capital T.
But remember when you one click, this is part of a trilogy and ends in an abrupt WTF moment! I suggest one clicking them all and then binge reading because there is no way not to continue!
Wow
Intense. This story is well written and draws you into each of the characters. I really have to get the 2nd book because of something in the first has me thinking.
Great read
I instantly liked the characters. They were so authentic and real that I wanted to reach out and touch them. Though I didn’t buy into mysterious Adam’s ‘I just want you’, ‘I don’t share’, ‘you’re mine’ stuff at first because he is sexy, good looking and rich – every woman wants him – why would he want just her?
The Story:
Mia Delaney is a second grade teacher that had it not so easy in life. The loss of her Dad was just one of some awful events that made Mia more careful when it came to trusting people. Her ex-boyfriends so far weren’t helpful in helping her to trust again. No wonder that Mia is worried about getting too close to the sexy father of two kids, Adam Lawson. Since they live in a small town, Mia runs into him all the time. It seems like he is everywhere.
Adam is determined to keep his kids save from getting hurt again. He keeps the women out of his kids life but when Mia slowly enters his world, there is hardly a turning back.
When Mia sees Adam with her worst enemy – Gina – she is shaken and doesn’t know if she can trust him when he so obviously is close to the woman who destroyed her life.
Mia and Adam are attracted to each other but they can’t admit it to themselves or one another. Even though they soon find to each other, it’s not like they fall head over heels instantly. The book is a lot about how they slowly grow closer and begin to trust each other with all ups and downs included. Both are cautious for different reasons. He doesn’t want to get his kids hurt and she wants to keep her heart from shattering again.
Being horribly betrayed once, Mia constantly doubts Adam even though he always assures her that he wants just her and that there is no other woman for him. Mia always sees ghosts when Adam talks on the phone or is in meetings with other women. How much truth is there in his assurances?
Thoughts:
I thought it was so strange that Adam saw Mia in this club and then almost shouted at her that she shouldn’t ever come back again. He definitely had his weird times.
OK, I confess that I love guys that are hot but I am still curious at how he can raise two young kids alone and be so successful. He even has time to drop-off and pick-up his kids from school almost every day. He surely can’t be just working 6 hours a day? And his kids, Madison and Luke, are such nice kids; I wonder how they turned out that way when their dad should actually be working a lot.
I’ll definitely continue with this series. Even though the book doesn’t end with a cliffhanger, there is still a lot in the open with the story. I am curious how Adam will solve his problem and how he will get out of this situation without hurting his family and Mia.
I liked this book and the story was good but it didn’t really flow. It seemed like parts was missing and the story was to drawn out. The characters were likable but it took to long to find out their issues. Since this was the authors first book she wrote I’m sure book two of the series will be better and I can’t wait to read it.
The story doesn’t end but leaves you hanging so that you have to buy the next book
If you are a reader who likes a story that has a definite ending, you will not want to read this book. This is the first book in a series of three so when you finish this book, the story leaves you hanging.
I just don’t like series books like this where the book ends with the primary couple left hanging
Wasn’t my favorite. The male lead was obnoxious in my opinion. I thought the female lead had some great conversations with herself. It was an OK read.
Couldn’t become interested.
I got disappointed early on but kept reading hoping Mia would stop saying the same things over and over….which should have an X rating and the ending just stopped in mid sentence!
Short on plot, long on porn.
Was listed under suspense. Never made much sense.
Not well written or interesting. Weak plot
I did not read much of this book. I do not enjoy reading about a heroine who constantly curses, drinks until she passes out, and fantasizes constantly about sex.
I forced myself through the filthy language because the plot interested me. However, when I got to the end of the book there was no resolution and I would have to buy the next book to find out what happened.
