This is a great short read for a pleasant evening.
This was a cute novella. I read it all in one sitting. It was short and sweet—mostly. On the scale of “clean” romances, I would consider this one a little on the steamier side, with the hero fantasizing about the heroine with thoughts I would consider sexual, and a kissing scene that left me the reader almost as breathless as the heroine. 😉 (Okay, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but it was intense.)
This was well-written with just a few typos. The author did a great job of incorporating the setting into the story without dragging out the pacing with long, poetic descriptions. It was just enough to make me want to visit Rome even more.
I thought the characters of the hero and heroine were both well-done, unique voices and slightly flawed.
But there were several things that either made me roll my eyes or pulled me out of the story:
1- how gorgeous this redheaded heroine was supposed to be – most of us redheads are freckled things that were teased mercilessly for being a “Copper top.”
2- how the romantic relationship was propelled forward merely by physical attraction.
3- the Italian businessmen were stereotypical of misogynistic males, and I wasn’t happy to be forced to read their vulgar remarks. I think we could have skipped Daniel’s conversation with them altogether and went straight to when Ava asked him what happened, getting a summarized, sanitized version.
4- I must admit that I did not relate to all the environmentalist talk. It was obviously very important to Daniel as the head of his company, but it almost felt a bit heavy-handed, like the author tried to force these ideals onto us at every place possible.
Overall, I liked it and probably will read it again.
Very good book. Worth reading!
Absolutely adored this sweet story. Daniel and Ava are a great team and loved the way they got to their hea. I read in one sitting. It is a shorter story but doesn’t feel rushed and is very well written. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
