This is the seventh book to feature American Bex Wynter at New Scotland Yard with the Youth Crimes Team. While each book in the series can be read as a stand alone, the story will be enhanced if read in sequence. That way the development of relationships between the characters can be better understood and appreciated.

Elleby Harper’s Girl Last Seen is a enjoyable read for mystery fans. The Detective Bex Wynter Files is one of my favorite series. Bex is smart, capable, caring, and courageous, although sometimes her personal life goes haywire. She is also challenged by being a “Yank” in the UK. She makes humorous mistakes understanding British slang and still misses the firearm she could wear if she were back in the US. Even armchair detectives can identify with Bex. I recommend this book, but also encourage you to read the whole series. Start at the beginning to get the most from these good reads.
Twists and turns and plenty of excitement and suspense keep you riveted to this latest installment featuring our usually unflappable Bex Wynter. No spoilers in this review but fasten your seatbelt as you engage in a fast-paced pageturner that you can picture yourself being part of and of course, the killer was not at all who I thought it was. A wonderfully written story chock full of characters that you love to love and love to hate had me turning the pages to read just one more chapter. Although this can be read as a standalone, you’ll certainly want to read the books before this to get a little backstory on how we got to where we are with the character interactions and relationships. If mystery, thrills, and intrigue are what you are looking for, this is the book for you. Get it NOW. I received a complimentary copy and elected to leave an unbiased review.
I’ve read all but one of the books in this series. I enjoy the writing and the story telling. Bex has arrived back in London to resume her role. While she was gone, the man who thinks he should be in that position full time was filling the office.
There is a murder of a beautiful young girl. The murder was called into a celebrity instead of the police. The police are scrambling to catch up and to nab the killer. The tips to the police are few and far between because the tips are coming in to the celebrity because he is offering a reward.
This is a good story, with the police digging for every clue they can unearth. They turn up several suspects so the book does have twists and turns. While the main story is resolved in this book, there are several threads that obviously will continue in the next book. Personally, I enjoy the hanging ending.
Harper has another great book. I like the characters and the police procedurals in all the Bex books. They are very well written. Having a MC who is not all together and fearless all the time is a refreshing change from many books out these days. It makes things more of a team effort and adds to the suspense. This book had some good twists. I enjoyed it and read it in one night. I look forward to reading more about Bex and the Met.
I received an ARC of this book and wished to leave a review.
I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. Wow! What a read!!! It was frustrating, irritating, shocking, and altogether amazing!! This is a Bex I have not seen before, and while I understand where the emotions are coming from, it was still a shock. I’m used to Bex being in control, confident, sure of herself, and knowing what steps to take next, not self-doubting, second-guessing herself, unsure where to go next. While I’m sure that we will eventually see Bex get her feet back under herself and regain everything she appears to have lost, I still don’t like it. I’m used to her being able to take on the world. And it is a good thing that Quinn Standing is a figment of Ms. Harper’s imagination. Otherwise, I might be tempted to try and find him and wring his arrogant, self-important, self-absorbed neck myself! And don’t get me started on Cole. These guys are trying my patience sorely!!!!
While Bex is struggling and Quinn is a pain in the neck, the remainder of the team does their normal good work. Reuben is making progress as an investigator. Idris is learning to hold his own against Quinn’s narcissism., and Elie is his dependable self. For the most part, a great visit with a group of characters I have really come to enjoy with realistic police procedure and enough of their personal lives to make them feel like people I really could know.
If you haven’t read any of the Bex Winter stories you need to rectify that oversight immediately. You are definitely missing out.
I loved this book. The story telling is so vivid that I could picture everything and felt for the characters. I hope Bex and Cole are able to get back to some sort of relationship even if it is a collaborative working one. Quinn is quite the character. I appreciate that Idris is given more of a chance to shine in this installment. I received a free Arc and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
A news reporter calls a murder in and is filming the site. Homicide Hound is streaming the murder site to gain ratings. How does he get to the site before anyone else notifies the authorities? A riveting murder mystery unlike any other.
