Girl In Trouble is a crime mystery, almost a cozy mystery, about a kidnapping. But more than that it is a book about relationships and family dynamics. Alex and Zoey have to learn to overcome their differences to rescue their daughter from a kidnapper, while Alex’s sister has to over come the kidnapping that happened to her when she was a teenager, and then a car accident cause by her nieces kidnapper. The kidnapper has his own issue and is haunted by the death of his sister, and the results. This is a very good book and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
The author did a great job of getting you hooked in the first chapter, which is every parent’s worse nightmare.
But as the story evolves, some parts of it seem a little unrealistic.
The flow of the story was written well, and I liked Alex and was routing for him to be the hero (job well done there).
Overall, it was entertaining and worth the read.
This first book in the Alex Mercer series sets the stage for the subsequent ones, even though they are technically stand-alone novels. You will be dropped into a situation almost immediately that is frightening for anyone, especially a parent. Abduction of a child or loved one is so horrific. We only begin to understand Alex Mercer before we’re sent on a journey with him and his family. The characters seem so real, powerful in their own ways, but vulnerable as well. There is intrigue, mystery, and deception. I have to admit to a sense of Alex’s desperation, angst, and regret…while admiring his fighting spirit and sense of justice. This series is well worth your time…they are page-turners, so be prepared! I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story has little hints here and there which are given during the story. I had part of the mystery solved, but still enough suspense to keep me turning each page until the very last page.
Characters are life like, at times you want to slap someone, other times you want to sit down with them and cry or just hold them.
Don’t miss the engaging story.
Alex’s life is messed up. He gave his daughter up for adoption, the woman he loves, is with another man, he doesn’t like his job. He just works, drinks and and goes homes.
He is supposed to go to his daughter’s party, he is running late. He spent to much time in the bar. He finally gets there, Arianna is so happy to see him. Her mother is giving him a hard time as usual. Her adoptive parents are somewhat ok with him.
After the party, Arianna talks Alex to go to a game castle. Alex and Arianna are having fun. Alex decides to text his boss, that he will be taking a sick day the following day. While he does that Arianna is approached by a man, he gets her to follow him.
Alex sees him walking is daughter out of the place, he runs after them. He tries to get her, he is too late.
Alex informs everyone what has happened. Zoey, the public blame him. Alex is feeling miserable. It feels like what happened with his sister.
Alex knows who took his daughter, but the officals will not listen to him.
Alex and the chief will work together to get the leads and work on bring Arianna home.
The kidnapper is threatening Alex and everyone he holds dear, Will everyone make is safe or will Alex lose more than his daughter. Alex will defy everyone and will do everything to get his daughter home safe
This book grabs you from the moment you start reading. The suspense of what is going to happen next, keeps you hooked. I really enjoyed this book
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review
This was a fast paced, emotional, page turner, that I thoroughly enjoyed. Alex is a pretty much stand-up guy who tries his best to be a father to his daughter, who lives with his ex. On Halloween, a text message leads to a wild chase that involves them all in fearful and tragic events. Alex works hard to make it “all ok” and prove himself to all
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I’ve read some of the other books in the series prior to reading this one – so I made step two before step one, but that doesn’t bring any disadvantages. So, the story is indeed a good one, the relationships are a little Off the charts. Might be, because Alex and Zoey only we’re teens themselves when Ari came along eleven years ago. The writing style, you have to get used to.
Lots going on in this book. really enjoyed reading it.
The first 3/4 is great but the ending was rushed and didn’t make much sense.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Will be looking for more books by this author.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last. This book is the first in a series and I’m looking forward to reading more since I enjoyed this one so much. It was full of mystery and good characters. Each character had a great personality and fit perfectly in the story. Alex Mercer was a lost soul who worked and drank and that’s about all. Every once in awhile he sees his daughter, Ariana, who was given up for adoption in a strange circumstances (you’ll have to read it for that explanation). While he was visiting her on Halloween, they were having a great time being dad and daughter, when a stranger abducts her. As hard and fast as Alex could run he couldn’t get her back but he did get a pretty good look of the man and the vehicle. Alex is determined to get Ariana back even when it brings back memories of Alex’s sister when she was taken years ago. The story goes on with Alex playing detective while working out issues with his pass and Ariana’s mother. He does find a person in the police department who is willing to help find Ariana and believes Alex more than anyone else. The book has a little bit of everything in it that makes it a good book. The ending took me by surprise as well. I look forward to more in the series.
I didn’t finish this book! 🙁
An easy read with a couple of twists at the end
This is a story of an irresponsible loser who discovers he’s not a loser at all and a tough, resourceful little girl. Lots of interpersonal dynamics in this somewhat dysfunctional family situation.
If I read it, it was excellent !!!!! I READ IT. JAK,jr.
Want the book want to know what happen to the other girls. Need to know more about the characters and what their past might have to do with what going on now. Want the book so I can finish reading this story!!
I enjoyed this book thoroughly. The story keeps you turning the pages, it was very hard to put down. Thank you Stacy Claflin.
I loved this book. All of the characters are strong. This book brings out all of your emotions. A man who gave up a daughter to keep her safe. The daughter is then kidnapped. Alex’s worst nightmare came to life. A tragic story with a happy ending, only to discover it isn’t over.
It was a good read. Was definitely a page turner hoping the girls is saved.
Every parent’s fear, The father’s frustration at knowing what he saw and knew, but no one would believe him,
