No one would say Keelie Lockhart isn’t determined. Taking on the role of both mom and dad to her two young kids, she’s managing life the best she can. Saddled with a century-old dilapidated farmhouse she can’t afford, a bevy of goats, two dogs, and a geriatric donkey, the last thing she has time for is a man—even if that man is a knight whose shining armor comes in the form of worn-in jeans and … and work boots.
Controlled, methodical, and focused—Asa Hollingsworth takes charge of everything in life. Working close to home after years away, he finally has the time to focus on his kids. Little does he know, a chance meeting with a petite, strawberry-blonde stranded on the side of the road, would intertwine their lives in a way he’d never want to untangle.
But when school bullies turn into something much worse, Asa starts to dig around. He never dreams the troubles lurking in the hallways of the local high school would shake his family to its core. With drug dealers lurking, bullets flying, and threats coming from every angle, Asa must do everything he can to protect the ones he loves.
Because in the end, there’s nothing more precious than the gift of life.
Warning: Oh, I’m sorry, that’s a fake ID. If you’re not eighteen, consider yourself bounced and walk away from my books. I’ll gladly welcome you back when you become a legit adult. That is, unless you’re my parents or my children. If so, walk away and don’t come back. You don’t need to know what’s in my head.

Love, love me some Asa. This is going to be more of an acceptance/thank you speech, because I want to thank Brynne Asher for writing my Killers Collection “reverse harem”, I have now added Asa to my reverse harem, that Brynne Asher has so graciously, but unknowingly created…for me and I accept. These guys are just perfect and by that I mean realistically my perfect guys. Asa is blatantly honest and is not afraid to do and say what he thinks. It is so damn refreshing and then he is pretty much a badass, which are major points too. He meets Keelie when her date gets a flat tire, but doesn’t know how to change it, funniest scene. Keelie ends up being his high school kids counselor. These two have chemistry to spare, like heat wave kind of chemistry. He is divorced and Keelie’s a widow, but their families gel really well.
This was a safe read with a whole lot of suspense. The bad guys mess with the wrong guys family and it does not work out well for them. So much happens in this book and you are taken along for the ride. An OTT badass alpha with his sweet little spitfire, burning up the sheets. No om or ow drama, just story drama. A great epilogue and an hea. Thank you Brynne Asher for writing my reverse harem of men.
This is my fave in the series so far. Ah-friggen amazing. It’s no secret single dads reads are my absolute fave.
From their very first meeting right to the end Asa and Keelie are so meant to be. I could not swoon over Asa more than when he is with Keelie, her kids, her crazy family or the farm animals. Everything you need in a story is here and done so well. At the end you found out why it’s called Gifts and it’s a beautiful reason.
Who knew the name Asa could be so hot? I love that he’s such a giver. Unless you’re wanting time and space. Saylor was absolutely adorable. It was nice to see a family coming together to form. This book is the perfect mix of humor and suspense and romance.
Asa is finally getting to be a family man and settle down. If he can get bad guys to leave them alone anyway. Keelie is trying to pick herself up and carve out a life for her and her kids.
This has become my favorite single parent and blended family book. I don’t think I could have loved this book anymore than I did. Asa has so much going on that we didn’t know about and seeing him as a dad just melted my heart. When Asa wants something he goes balls to the wall and is all in. Poor Keelie didn’t have a chance even if she wanted it because once Asa’s sights were set on her it was good as done. Keelie is the sweetest mom and I love how strong she is. She was such a great mom and oh man for all her hang ups from her late husband she really was just the sweetest and the best partner for Asa. Both Asa and Keelie were just the best with the other’s kids and it just added to the story how both families so seamlessly meshed together. I just loved this book.
Currently reading this for the 2nd time before book 5 comes out. Talk about a dark horse. Asa is so swoony. You don’t know much about him in the first 2 books but man he is all alpha. Keelie is an amazing heroine; strong, loving, funny. Keelie and Asa’s story is a great one. Once I finish this re-read, I will re-read Veils (which is AMAZING) before Scars comes out. Brynne probably could not write a bad book if she tried. This is one of my all time favorite series.
Asa is in the first book and on, I am glad he meet Keelie and got his happy ever after. This was a great book also by Brynne, and I can’t wait for more from her. I love all her books.
Gifts was enthralling and soul consuming. Brynne Asher creative mind will astound you. You will be intrigued by the prologue to the epilogue. In this story you will be on high alert, who is friend from foe. Secrets and deception lurking at every turn. Will friendship and brotherhood be destroyed? If you want to find out get this phenomenal series.
Keelie and Asa are everything!! This might be my favorite in The Killers series. Asa is a total Man’s Man and knows what he wants and how to provide for his family. Keelie is a strong, independent woman who is conquering so much – even if she doesn’t think so.
I loved the chemistry between the H/h and I really liked how they became a blended family. They definitely went thru a lot to achieve their HEA but the journey was so worth it. Brynne’s writing is fantastic and she truly writes stories that are enjoyable to read.
I absolutely loved this book. We’ve been waiting a while for Jarvis’s book. It didn’t disappoint at all. From the first page to the last I was hooked. It had everything from drama, intrigue and suspense and love. Great book
Oh WOW!!! I have to say this one is my favorite!! The drama, the passion, and the overall well written story!!! Love It!!!
Every story gets better and better.
I missed Harry’s antics in this book, but the truckloads of other animal’s made up for it.
This story was different to the others in the very best way, I totally guessed the villain wrong.
First off I just have to say how FUNNY Brynne Asher is, no matter if you have read her books before or not, you will love this one! This is the third in her Killers series and we meet Keelie and Asa, and what an adventure it is! Single parent story heaven, this story was intense from page one, all the way to the last sentence and you couldn’t ask for more!
*silly giddy grins*
Keelie and Asa’s hea just makes me feel happy from deep inside. Even though this isn’t my first Brynne Asher story, I keep feeling blown away with the with all the feels like I just discovered something new to me.
I adored, just simply swoony adored Asa as a man, as a father, and as a protector/provider. He’s probably one of my favorite heroes. The way he gives of himself and takes care of his family just makes my heart pitter patter.
Keelie was a mess, but she was definitely worth digging through the mess to get to her heart. The depth of heart she has for those in her life is incredible.
Put those two together, mix in their awesome kids and a huge menagerie of animals and you got this attention grabbing story that doesn’t let up. Throw in some outside scary drama that no one would want to have affect themselves or their family, and it becomes un-put-downable. It’s not often where a story captures me so completely that I stay up way into the wee hours of the morning because I just don’t want to let go.
This story is definitely worth your attention, and I’m excited to go back and grab the rest of the series.
I’m so sad to see the Killers series ending. But it did end on a bang! This can also be read as a standalone novel, but you should definitely be reading the first 2 in the series as well. I loooved Asa. I liked that he was older than the previous 2 heroes of the series and had kids of his own to care for. (I’m a sucker for the single parent trope, despite not having kids myself. Ha.) He was mature, knew what he wanted, and was the perfect alpha male. Then we have Keelie, who I also loved. She does everything she can for her own kids, while remaining strong and resilient despite her past. I loved that Asa and Keelie’s love story included hard work and didn’t come easy. As seems to be the norm, Brynne does an excellent job of intertwining the suspense into the novel as well to keep you guessing. Terrific finale to a terrific series. I know I’ll be reading more of Brynne’s work in the future!
Asa and Keelie, he never gives up!
As much as you would expect an action romance to be on the go from page one, this one has a super sweet, seductive side as well.
Meeting in the funniest way possible, Keelie is struck by this ultra hot man who would never wear a sweater vest and changes a tire not his own to rescue her Saturday night.
From that moment on this book was go, go, go. Alternating between action, seduction, and humour Asa gives Keelie everything she’s ever needed but was afraid to ask for.
I just finished up this absolutely FANTASTIC story in one session. I am a big fan of Brynne Asher’s books and Gifts has gone straight into my favourites of 2017. This one is jam packed with alpha but not assehole guys, funny/genuine female characters, action packed story lines that actually go somewhere and sexy times so damn hot I felt like I was the one who needed a cigarette. I think the universe should give every woman on the planet a night with her own Asa at least once in her lifetime. Dammmmm.
Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a funny, hot, emotional and beautifully written love story.
I’ve followed Ms. Asher’s writing career since her first novel, Overflow. I fell in love with her writing style, her characters, her stories, and I devoured every one of her books as soon as I could get them. So to say that I am a Brynne Asher fan, it’s putting it mildly . . . she’s become one of my all-time favorites and an automatic one-click author. I don’t even have to read the synopsis, I just dive in.
So, you can assume I’ve read all her books, and THIS STORY COMPLETELY BLEW ME AWAY.
Words cannot describe how much I loved Keelie and Asa. Both are strong, protective, passionate, and perfect for each other. Ms. Asher not only gave me a sexy romance novel, but a sexy romance novel that is funny, touching, suspenseful, gripping, and oh, so, very sigh-worthy.
Fantastic, love it. Captivating
This series has been a complete and utter blissful experience of everything I look for in my romance. It’s no surprise that Brynne checks those boxes for me in every single book she writes. But what comes as a shock to me is every time I start a book by this talented author, I simply lose myself in a way that just testifies that she’s beyond good. She’s brilliant. From emotion, to humor and of course sizzling passion, you’ll find layer after layer in these pages, of every kind of emotion.
Asa called to me from the moment he was introduced as a character. He had that mature hero vibe that’s a weakness since I’m of that age. But he had that soul deep energy that gives him the edge of awareness. He pays close attention to all things, especially the people he cares about. Keelie absolutely stood no chance at resisting this wonderful man. I’m a sucker for single parent storylines and this had the added bonus of a double wammie. Every child from precocious Saylor to mature Levi stole my heart. But oh sweet Emerson, that girl, my heart broke for her. Way to many things so heavy and so terrible were weighing down on her young shoulders.
This time we surpassed the crazy antics of cows to add Donkeys and goats to the mix showing that beautiful addition of mother nature’s humor that Brynne is so gifted at sprinkling into her stories.
The suspense was again perfect and kept me riveted. But what I loved was the amazing perfection of all things Asa. My kriptonite is always going to be a hero who doesn’t back down, who doesn’t give up and who unashamedly supports, protects and loves his woman.
The love I felt between these two really touched me so much. Pure passion and beauty. His love just vibrated and Keelie could only absorb it into her pores along with healing only the love of a real man could give.
But add into that his love for his children and hers too well my ovaries never stood a chance.
This author has not budged from my short list of favorites since I first heard of her and all I can see going forth is her climbing farther up to the top. Now she just needs a cloning pill so she can write faster. Until then I’ll keep these stories and perfect heroes tucked away in my heart till the next one sweeps me away.
Oh my gawd!!! I am so in love with Asa and Keelie! Usually, it’s all about the hero, you know? But not this time. I absolutely fell in love with this heroine. She’s had to put on a façade for so long. Struggled to find something normal that works for her and her children. Filled with so much anger and distrust, scared of what might happen in life, her character touched me in a way I’ve never been affected by a heroine before.
But don’t think for a second I didn’t tumble completely in love with Asa Hollingsworth as well. Oh dear lord! The man gives a whole new definition to dedication, protection and love. And then there’s the fact that I’m sure there wouldn’t be a woman around that doesn’t swoon should his attention shift to her. Or heck, to even be in the same room as him would cause swoonage in anyone that looked his way.
Together this couple took me to a wonderfully giddy, sometimes angsty, always wanting more, place. This is how romance is done!
Keelie meets Asa while ditched during a blind date. Literally, ditched. We quickly learn that the ability to change tires should be the main prerequisite when looking for a man. Asa fits the bill and despite Keelie’s decision to never date again, he pushes himself into her and her children’s lives all while gifting her with the things her life has been missing.
There is plenty of drama here with Asa’s daughter as well as Keelie’s emotional issues, but in true Brynne Asher fashion we ride the storm knowing that the end is going to leave us breathless, satiated, and happy. I loved the twist at the end, knowing it would be there but unsure where or how until it actually happened. The epilogue was spot on and so dang awesome I had to reread it immediately…just because I could.
If you haven’t read the previous books in this series, no worries. They each stand alone. However, I recommend you remedy that injustice immediately! After you read this one of course. No need to wait.
Okay, so I’m going to let you know that a friend of mine forced this author to let me have an advanced copy and Ms. Asher was too nice to say no. So yes, this is a review of an ARC but if you can’t tell it’s completely honest, all you have to do is check out the verified purchase on my Amazon review when this goes live.
And one last thing…If I had a pantry and an Asa, my farm would be a perfect kind of chaos as well.
