Who says the holiday season is just for humans? For all the holly-jolly times, family gatherings are complex no matter who—or what—you are. When you’re hunting for the latest “it” toy to stuff a stocking, it doesn’t matter if you’re alive or Undead, fanged or furry—you’re just as desperate to be the cool dad. And then there are the family grumps who never send cards, the ones who eat all the good … the ones who eat all the good candy, and those who drool and dig up the neighbor’s yard.
No, the Yuletide Season isn’t for the faint of heart—and sometimes it’s downright demonic—but holiday miracles make it all worthwhile. Chance encounters and unexpected forgiveness remind us that joy doesn’t come in a gift-wrapped box.
This novella from the Dark Forgotten world catches up with favorite characters for a fresh take on the holidays. Those visiting the world for the first time will understand why Chicago Tribune called it “simply superb.”

When a demon enters the paranormal world of the Dark Forgotten, it feeds on everyone’s emotions and threatens the town. Once, “… in the mortal realm it could feed on every soul, stirring up the embers of … heartbreaks, long forgotten feuds and the sweet private moments never meant to be shared. …the holiday flavors were its perfect meal.” No one would be spared. “Love. Memories. Emotions. All the things that made the holidays bright or dark,” fueled the demon. He grew more powerful every day.
I found the premise of this story, that dark thoughts are powerful demons, intriguing. Using a paranormal canvas to explore it–brilliant.
Ashwood’s richly portrayed characters bring the story alive. Take for example the radio announcer, Errata Jones, the were-cougar night radio host, who looks, “…like a naughty list made flesh, but in an elegant, untouchable way.” And Joe, the vampire dad, who chases all over the globe and pulls in favors to get his daughter the present she wants for Christmas, the much sought-after “it” present of the year, a stuffed purple unicorn.
Humor, satire and insight into the human soul combine to make this a memorable Christmas story. I highly recommend it to readers of the paranormal.
So how does one annihilate an, “…evil entity that looked like tinsel and sang Christmas carols…?” You’ll have to read the book to find out.
No matter who – or what – you are, this Dark Forgotten holiday special is heartwarming and thrilling! As the strong, vivid characters prepare for the holidays while dealing with a demonic threat. Lots of holiday cheer, and sweet romance entertains readers while spine chilling suspense keeps readers on the edge of their seat. The idea of something good coming out something demonic inspires readers as a variety of characters discover holiday miracles make everything worthwhile even having to banish a sparkly demonic threat and battling holiday crowds. Readers can’t help but enjoy this fresh perspective of fanged and furry, magical and innocent characters take on the holidays while also getting to catch up on the lives of all the Dark Forgotten characters.
A well-written story dealing with the Christmas season in The Dark Forgotten series. It gives us more of witch Holly Carver and vampire Alessandro Caravelli and a very nasty demon. I want to read the rest of the books in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story has a little of everything, sweet romance, sexy overbearing and frustrating alpha make and a beautiful woman who has the right heart and spirit. Thoroughly enjoying and entertaining.

This novella has a series of Christmas time scenes with different characters from the Dark Forgotten series of stories. The main characters are the witch Holly Carver and vampire Alessandro Caravelli, who are married and somehow produced a baby. The thread running through the story is a demon that keeps appearing and having to be dealt with until a final solution is found. Characters that included werewolves, witches, vampires and vampire hunters, the fae, a feline shifter and hellhounds, all made appearances in the various scenes. Since I haven’t read the series, I didn’t recognize any of the characters, but the story definitely held my interest as a nice paranormal holiday tale.
Follow them as they enjoy the holiday and see how they get on. This follows several people and each will take you on a beautiful journey which you will love

A wonderfully charming and whimsical holiday read set in the world of the Dark Forgotten. This novella follows the paths of several residents of Fairview and their holiday misadventures, which may or may not involve a bizarre, sparkling entity that seems as attached to Christmas as the rest of us. Having only read —and absolutely loved—Fragile Magic before Gifted, I’m enthralled and enchanted and totally hooked on the world. Can’t wait to take a crack at the rest of the series!
Holidays bring out the best, and the worst of us all, and we see both, from romances both old and new, misadventures in parenting, and reconnecting with family. As well as a little action with a creature unlike any I’ve ever encountered in fiction. Well worth the read, for both well-established fans of the Dark Forgotten, and readers looking to dip a toe in the world with this heartwarming holiday read. My first Christmas read of the year, and now I’m gearing up for more Christmas cheer! My highest recommendations, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Gifted: the Dark Forgotten by Sharon Ashwood is a wonderful story to read. I loved reading this story caus it has vampires and witches in it and I love reading about both of these. I can not wait to see what the author writes about next, I highly recommned this story to all.

What is Christmas all about, anyway? Have the tissues handy for this family-friendly, half-day adventure that starts the week before Christmas in the strange town of Fairview.
