I enjoyed reading this book very much. The characters were quite realist and believable. Alexa Aston has provided us with a interesting situation that is different from the rest of the series. This is a story of a knight that has everything of value taken from him. Left to walk to his family’s home, he comes upon a man being robbed and tries to help him. Wounded and left for dead, Lady Elinor Swan finds him and helps him to heal. Lady Elinor’s life has not been easy as her father threw her out of the clan because she was a girl and her mother produced no sons to make an heir. How these two overcame their situations provides an interesting read.
Good Read!!! Hal de Monfort is a knight in every sense of the word. He is honest and trustworthy. He is true to his king. This all brings him to a day of reckoning when he must lay down his sword in defeat. All of this chaos brings him to a hut in the forest where his future is waiting for him. Elinor is a lovely woman who was cast out by her father. She has become an accomplished falconer since her banishment. She finds Hal in the woods, broken and bleeding. They fall in love but the forces surrounding them force them apart. This is a great story which is full of love, honor, and suspense. I love all of Alexa Aston’s books and especially this one.
Another wonderful love story in the “Knights of Honor” series by Alexa Aston, this story is about Hal de Montfort and Lady Elinor Swan. Hal one of the three sons of Sir Geoffrey and his beautiful wife Merrin has led a charmed life, handsome, Knighted and one of the guards to King Richard II, all the ladies love him what can go wrong, well just about everything. The King is in disfavor with his Lords Appellant, and sends Hal with a message to those he thinks will raise a mighty army to fight this war that is brewing. Hal soon finds himself stripped of all he holds dear, even his horse, and on foot starts off on foot for Kinwick his home. Elinor Swan who as a child of 6 lost her mother to childbirth and the baby brother her father so wanted, he is a cruel man and casts little Elinor from the castle claiming he has no need for a girl child. Jasper the falconer for Whitley Castle has lost his wife and child so he takes the lonely little girl and raises her as his own. For 16 years he has taught her all there is to know about Raising and training Falcons, she even surpasses him and loves what she does. Hal enters her life after a very heartbreaking incident, he is wounded and she helps him back to health. The two grow very close he soon learns what is really important in life and the young girl soon finds that she can love, and hopes to be loved In return, something she has not experienced in all of her 22 years. The story has a cousin of Elinor who becomes Baron of Whitley Castle after the death of her father, his wife is as awful and bad as you can imagine. The twists and turns keep you turning the pages and you wonder how much more this lovely person has to go through to get her happily ever after. The story has all the characters from the other books in the series; I really like seeing how they all interact with one another. Although this seems a long review I have not given away too much a lot happens to our two lovers, before they can be together. So I invite you to get this book and I know you will love reading their story. I truly enjoyed every word.
Lady Elinore Swan was banished from her family home as a child. The estate falconer took her in and taught her all he knew. Her memories of her early childhood remain and ensure she has no confidence in herself.
Sir Hal de Montfort finds himself on the wrong side when the young King Richard faces rebellion. Feeling shamed and being completely unarmed he begins the long walk home.
An emotional story about a brave and independent young woman making the most of a very hard life. Our hero comes from a large loving family , and he knows exactly what he had found.
This is a book easily read on it’s own but it’s linked through family ties to the rest of this great series. Once you read one of the books you will be totally hooked and want to read the rest.
I have loved every one of them.
Can two broken people brought together by fate find unexpected love and acceptance? Can they feel trust and security after experiencing bitter betrayal? This is a wonderful story of unexpected, unconditional love, and honor and how it develops through an incorporation of all of their past experiences in life that has effected them, moulding them into the characters we love. Alexa Ashton never disappoints me! She is one of the authors I have discovered recently, and fallen in love with her family sagas.

After Hal is hurt trying to defend Elinors father she takes him to her home to nurse him back to health. During his recovery they become close as Elinor teaches him how to become a falconer. Neither telling the other who they really are. I really enjoyed reading this book. Elinor was not raised a lady and not raised around many people so she is not very trusting and has a lot to overcome. I liked the characters and the story. I would definitely recommend reading this book!
Terrific story in the continuing saga of the members of the de Montfort family. In this stand alone novel, Sir Hal is a rather cocky knight who serves in the king’s private guard. He is sent on a task for his majesty that dies not end well. As a result he is injured, lost, and needs help.
Along comes Elinor, a rather solitary but talented young woman with a tragic past, and a kind heart, who helps him. She aids in his recovery both physical and mental. She has no knowledge of Hal’s history or importance.
As they spend time together the two become enthralled with each other and need to be together as they have fallen in love. But will a secret keep them apart? A terrible misunderstanding? Will Hal and the cast of interesting characters somehow convince Elinor that she belongs with them?
This was a tragic but lovely romance that I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend. It’s part of a series in which each book is even better than the last! I am hoping for stories for at least two more of the siblings, Nan and Jessimond, as well.
Another exceptional story in the Knights of Honor Series. Sir Hal de Montfort is a royal guardsman to the King, who holds a strong sense of duty, although he can be found to enjoy himself at times a little too much! When he gets caught up in politics and loses all, he sets out on a journey to his parents home. He really is a broken man and knows not what lies ahead. As fate would have it though, he finds himself in the middle of a highway man accosting someone on his journey. In saving the man, he is injured but is taken in by Lady Elinor Swan. Elinor has had her own problems in life. Rejected by her father who only wanted a son, she had been exiled to an estate where the falconer takes her under his wing and trains her in his expertise.
As Hal heals, can these two heal each other from past hurts and go forward? There are many secrets held and adventure that make this a wonderful read. As I turned the last page, I could only sigh and wait for the next adventure in this great series! As always a keeper…
