Gideon Ramsay is so far in the closet he should be a talking faun.A talented, mercurial, and often selfish man, Gideon has everything he should want in life. Fame, money, acting awards – he has it all. Everything but honesty. At the advice of his agent, Gideon has concealed his sexuality for years. But it’s starting to get harder to hide, and his increasingly wild behaviour is threatening to … threatening to destroy his career.
Then he’s laid low by a serious illness and into his life comes Eli Jones. Eli is everything that Gideon can’t understand. He’s sunny tempered, friendly, and optimistic. Even worse, he’s unaffected by grumpiness and sarcasm, which forms ninety percent of Gideon’s body weight. And now Gideon is trapped with him without any recourse to the drugs and alcohol that have previously eased his way through awkward situations.
However, as Gideon gets to know the other man, he finds himself wildly attracted to his lazy smiles and warm, scruffy charm that seem to fill a hole inside Gideon that’s been empty for a long time. Will he give in to this incomprehensible attraction when it could mean the end of everything that he’s worked for?
From the bestselling author of the Mixed Messages series comes a story about a man who needs to realise that being true to yourself is really just a form of finding home.
This is the third book in the Finding Home series but it can be read as a standalone.

I absolutely love Lily’s snark and banter, and the characters she dreams up. Gideon is another one she knocked out of the park.
Another lovely book in the Finding Home Series by Lily Morton. Joel Leslie also did this narration and did a phenomenal job. I really adore this series and thought that Gideon was a great character. I loved revisiting the other characters and loved the epilogue!! So great. Eli was Gideon’s counterpart in every aspect and really liked how level headed he was. They developed feelings for each other, but I like how mature they were in taking time apart to make sure the feelings were real, and not developed out of convenience. It was a wonderful read/listen. Would definitely recommend.
A tumultuous story of a man who has had to hide who he is for so long that even he isn’t sure why anymore. Until a nurse (murse) who has no investment in his façade gives him a reason to reflect (as does the pneumonia he gets from not looking after himself) and he realises that he needs to make changes – big changes – if he is ever to be happy.
I found Gideon’s story the most romantic in the series – with many moments along the way where I held my breath, hoping he made the right choice (slight spoiler alert: he does).
Oh – and I have a new life goal: Become Constance.
Great characters, voices and story.
Once again Lily Morton writes another terrific book.

I’m rhis book we meet Milos brother Gideon, who’s a famous actor but deep in the closet.
Gideon has gradually drunk/drugged himself that mixed with a serious illness lands him a stay in hospital.
Eli, softly, but firm spoken make nurse is brought in to keep an eye on Gideons recuperation. He puts up with Gideons sarcasm and grumpiness to the point that he actually fancies the grumpy actor.
This book has wonderful side characters that also made me laugh.
The narration us again first glass, beautiful soft Welsh accent for Eli and a very nice neutral accent for Gideon. The contrast is so easy to listen to. Beautiful book.
Well worth the read/listen. A must have.
4.25 Stars!
Let me preface this by saying I haven’t read any of the previous books in the Finding Home series and while a lot of other characters from both this series and the Mixed Messages series make appearances, it can be read as a standalone. That said, I’ll be going back and read Milo and Oz’s books soon because I really liked what I saw of them in this book.
I loved Gideon from the start. He was such a hot mess, but he was damn charismatic and despite him being closeted to the rest of the world, I was never frustrated by his resolve not to come out. Maybe because he was out to everyone that mattered anyway. It took me longer to warm up to Eli and frankly, I’m not sure why, but I got there and saw how good he was for Gideon. The banter back and forth and Gideon complaining about it, but doing as Eli told him to, were probably my favorite parts in the book, aside from the undeniable chemistry between Gideon and Eli and the way the whole group accepted them both into their fold wholeheartedly.
I hated Frankie, Gideon’s manager, with the fire of a thousand fires and it was so satisfying to see him get what he deserved in the end.
Joel Leslie did a good job with the narration, his Welsh accent was a tad difficult to understand in some parts and I had to go back and re-listen to certain parts, but the rest was just about as delightful as he has us used to. His Gideon was definitely a hoot!
Overall, although not my favorite Lily Morton book, it was still fun and sexy and very entertaining and I have no trouble recommending it!

Gideon is the third book in the Finding Home series and although it can stand on its own, I really suggest reading the first two books first for maximum enjoyment.
Gideon is a hard person to like let alone love, but that’s exactly what happens when Eli comes into his life. Sunny, cheerful Eli who’s not afraid of Gideon’s sharp tongue and nasty tempter. Eli who sees beneath the sarcastic veneer Gideon uses to hide his insecurities. Eli who brings out the best in Gideon and makes him happy. Gideon and Eli fit each other perfectly, and their romance is beautiful and addicting to watch. Plus, the sex is really hot and awesome.
Lily Morton is a fabulous writer who expertly crafts her books with humor, excitement, tenderness, and love. Her writing style is smooth with a perfectly paced plot that neither rushes through scenes nor drags along. There’s some angst, hurt/comfort, and a lot of drama, but it’s all tempered by the sweet and snarky romance and wonderful banter.
Joel Leslie narrates the audiobook and does a spectacular job as always. He does a wonderful British and Welsh accent for both Gideon and Eli respectably. His voice is clear and smooth, and it’s very easy to follow along in the story. Joel Leslie also does a fantastic job with the audiobook performance. He puts a lot of energy and excitement into the scenes, and it really brings the book alive. I could hardly stop listening to this audiobook, it was that good. The audiobook production was well done with no glitches.
I highly recommend this book and all the other books in the Finding Home series. This series is definitely on my re-read and re-listen to list.
Grumpy Gideon stole my heart!
We met ill-tempered bad boy Gideon in Milo. (While it’s not 100% necessary to read the previous books to read Gideon, it’s better if you do, and you really should because they’re awesome.) l have a thing for bad boys, so I was in trouble from the start with this one. I fell head-over-heels for the irrascable Gideon, and his angel of mercy, Eli. A bit darker than Lily’s normal fare, Gideon is still full of her trademark humor (or should I say humour?) and as always, her characters are vivid and loveable. She’s one of the best at creating the setting where her characters are, so I feel like I was on a cruise and visited France. I just loved this book and highly recommend it
It’s been a while since a book amused me as much as this one did. I’ve just re-read through all the passages I highlighted while reading, and they made me smile all over again.
Gideon is so snarky, but all the characters are well-written. This is the third book in Lily Morton’s Finding Home series, but I read it first, and it can definitely be read as a standalone, but it made me want to read all the others too. This one is still my favourite though.
Gideon is an actor who has everything he could possibly want. At least, that’s how it looks from the outside. But his agent convinced him early that the world wouldn’t accept him as gay, and now that he’s hidden that truth for so long, his agent assures him they’d never forgive him for lying to them for so long. Yet, hiding that truth means Gideon is deeply unhappy. He has to hit rock bottom before his brother hires Eli to nurse him back to health. Time away from the insanity of the acting world, and his new feelings for Eli, mean that Gideon starts to see things differently. But will it mean giving up everything he’s worked so hard for? And would it be worth it even if it did?
By 26% through the book I’d already snort-laughed on the train and highlighted six passages that had made me laugh. But there’s also some moments that just make you awww….
This book is definitely worth the read.
4 ½ stars
**Possible Spoilers**
I was curious about Gideon after his actions in the last Finding Home book. He was not very likable, and his actions were reprehensible. I wanted to see how the author could make him into someone about whom I could care. I am quite happy with the results.
This book is not as dark as I expected it to be based on the prologue, and the author takes a rather simplistic view of Gideon’s substance abuse and its’ aftereffects. A more realistic approach to that subject would have been appreciated, but even without that, I think the book has a good flow
and an interesting backstory.
Eli is exactly what Gideon needs to move forward with his life after suffering the neglect of his parents and the suffocating control of his manager. Their banter is engaging and humorous. Their attraction is palpable, and their love and passion by the end of the book are strong, beautiful, and believable.
I am pleased with the HEA, and I look forward to more from this author.
Lily’s writing is always hilarious and witty, and Gideon is no exception. I loved it!
Wow…I really loved this book. I even love it a smidge more than ” Oz “, which is saying something because I really liked Oz a lot. Gideon though, he rocked my world and so did his love interest Eli. They were absolutely awesome together. I laughed my ass off, fanned myself when things got hot, and I even cried some little tears. Sounds perfect right !!
Let me start out by saying that unlike a lot of others, I didn’t blame Gideon for his behavior in ” Milo “. For me, it was actually the other way around and I blamed (and maybe I still do) Milo for taking what was not his to take. I don’t that it was just a “friends with benefits” deal between Niall and Gideon… There is an unwritten rule… you don’t go where your sibling has gone and Gideon was there first so…
So I went into this book completely open. I had no grudge against Gideon and I was sure, that even though his behavior was a tad bit harsh, he had his reasons… and boy does he. He actually made me feel even sorrier for him… I knew there was a reason I loved him from the start 😉
Gideon is not in the best of places when this book opens, and you will get to know exactly why. I felt a bit heartbroken about his sadness. Thankfully he is not alone and even though Milo and Niall are not my favorites, they do love Gideon and they do want what is best for him. His manager Frankie, however, is a real piece of work. I don’t really have any nice words to say about him. He is responsible for introducing Gideon to the best thing to ever happen to him though… Eli !!
Eli was absolutely wonderful. I loved every single thing about him. He reminded me of Oz so much but for some reason… I loved him even more..can you believe that !!??
Eli is a nurse hired to look after Gideon on his way back to England and to ” keep him away from coke and twinks ” …quoting Milo here
Eli was absolutely perfect for Gideon. He brought light back into his life and Gideon finally just got to be… I think the best part of this book was watching Gideon grow and coming into himself…
This author has once again blown me away and I can’t wait for more !!
Highly recommended 😉
An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review
When Gideon becomes seriously ill, an at-home-care nurse is hired for him, and to Gideon’s manager’s horror, the nurse is a very attractive younger guy. For most of his life, Gideon has bowed to his manager’s wishes, but in this instance, keeping nurse Eli was something both Gideon and his brother, Milo, were adamant about. So he stayed. And changed both his own, and Gideon’s, lives, all for the better.
Although I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, I have read, (AND ABSOLUTELY LOVED!) Rule Breaker, from her other series, Mixed Messages, so I anticipated that I’d be getting another wonderful read, and that’s exactly what I got. Gideon is a slow burn, companion to lovers love story. Gideon for much of the first part of the story, was a spoiled (but hiding his pain) jerk, so it was nice to read as he emerged from that obnoxious shell, and into his true skin, showed his true colors as a fabulous, loving man. And Eli? Well, Eli was just about perfect from the get go – sweet but strong, and perfect for strong-willed Gideon.
If you have any interest in MM fiction, I highly recommend you download a copy of Gideon, you won’t regret it!
Gideon is a tender May-December romance which matched a brusque, grumpy playboy actor with a perennially happy nurse who is tasked with helping him recover from a serious case of pneumonia. Though this sort of opposite personality pairing isn’t new in the romance world, Gideon offered plenty of the finesses and quick-witted sarcastic humor that makes this author an auto-buy for me.
There are times secondary characters in books are simply unlikable and there are others where it’s clear there is more behind the acerbic attitude and unflattering actions. The latter is how I felt upon first meeting Gideon in Milo. While I didn’t necessarily have a dislike for his character going into this book, the author does a great job exposing Gideon’s vulnerabilities and history without making excuses for his past bad behavior, persistent grumpiness, and sometimes biting humor. Instead, she matched him with someone who saw through the bluster, enjoyed hid snark, and brought out the quieter, likable man. I really enjoyed this couple. Their chemistry was palpable and their love sweet, tempered by the sharp, sometimes biting banter that often had me smiling or chuckling to myself to create a story that was enjoyable and easy to read. I also liked that their romance didn’t feel rushed, having a steady pace that let the feelings expand between the men. Gideon is an easy recommendation, especially if you enjoy great dialogue and sarcastic humor.
I’ve really enjoyed the Finding Home series and thought Gideon was a great way to cap off the series. While the series does have many interwoven characters, which I love, I also really like that each title can work as standalones or read out of order. And as sad as I am to see this series end, the glimpses into future spin-offs or potential characters has me eagerly awaiting whatever is next on the horizon for Miss Morton.

Another good one and great addition to the series. I would recommend reading the other 2 books in the series first but definitely book 2. I don’t think you could truly appreciate this book without reading the second in the series. Gideon is somewhat of an undesirable character in the previous book. I love when an author is able to take a unlikable character and show them in a new and lovable light. This book is snarky, funny, sweet and steamy!
The perks of rampant pneumonia? Nurse, mend my body and tend my heart!
I loved lead character Gideon’s grumpy snark and the transformation to his life with nurse Eli at his side. The early chapters, particularly those on the cruise, were witty and a great base for the growth of their mutual respect. The romance does turn oh, so steamy, but it’s also touching. There’s plenty of character depth and complexity, plus a host of other supportive characters and the requisite villain who attempts to ruin Gideon’s bliss.
This was the first book I read in the series, so I did not have any preconceptions about Gideon. Though the story hints at some frightful behavior toward his brother Milo and friends in the earlier stories, I am glad I read this as a standalone and formed my opinions from his actions in the here and now. Gideon may be a flawed hero, but I really liked him and I’m glad he found his freedom and his perfect partner. The book’s conclusion is a positive, cozy ray of sunshine.
Lily Morton writes well, kept the story tight and focussed, and knows how to alternately tug at the heart strings and bring the heat. I want to read more from her!:-)
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I love a good redemption story and Gideon is just that. Gideon has been lost for years. He has led a life of great professional success with very little personal success. Having been raised in boarding schools with very little family interaction he is lonely and doesn’t feel worthy of love. Felled by illness he is now in the hands of his hired nurse Eli. THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO HIM.
Eli is light and hope. He is snark and sarcastic wit. He is strong enough to handle Gideon’s many moods. Eli sees the man behind the public face.
I loved the chemistry and connection between these two men. Watching their relationship evolve over time was beautiful. They both worked hard to get their HEA. Hat’s off to one of the best epilogues I have ever read! Lily Morton is a genius and such a gifted writer. I can’t wait for whatever she next has in store for her readers.
This might be my favorite from this author! I absolutely loved the writing and this book really delivered! It’s the third book in the Finding Home series by Lily Morton. I loved the first book, Oz. I haven’t read the second book, Milo, but Gideon’s story was amazing.
Gideon is a 39 years old famous actor. He’s wealthy and lives a very unconventional life, partying and having fun to the extreme. He is destroying his body and he’s not really enjoying the partying. It’s just what he knows. In the eye of his public, he’s straight. But he is really afraid of coming out because his agent has told him for years to keep his sexuality hidden.
Here comes Eli Jones a very sweet Welsh nurse. He’s everything Gideon isn’t. Funny, optimistic and very kind. But he has morals and he would never get involved with one of his patients…This story made me laugh out loud many times. I absolutely adored the banter between Gideon and Eli.
“Oh my God”, he says faintly, “Were you burgled?” He pauses. “Could they find anything? Did you have to help them look?”
I laugh helplessly. “Shut the fuck up. I’m messy. Deal with it.”
“I can seen now where the not keeping lots of clothes comes in. The ship would have probably sunk under the weight of all this.”
This book can be read as a standalone. But I loved revisiting Oz and Silas and after reading this one I can’t wait to read Milo and Niall’s story. I bet it’s going to be amazing too…It’s been a pleasure to witness Gideon’s coming out. I love age gaps in stories and I really enjoyed the secondary characters…The ending is so sweet! It’s low on angst, a slow-burning and a super HOT story!
I highly recommend this one!
DBO~Review by Dia
I admit wasn’t too sure how Gideon’s story would be told as he has been a douche in previous books but knew the author would do it justice. And wow Gideon and Eli are beautifully written characters with strong parts, weak parts and for Gideon douche parts LOL but this is a wonderful read
Arrogant, thoughtless and jealous, Gideon hasn’t made a good impression in Milo, his brother’s book. Now,though, I’m happy I got to see the real lonely, defeated, gentle and caring personality he’s trying to conceal behind his blunt, conceited and cynical facade. His cover comes down after he meets and spends time with Eli,who gets under his skin with his kindness, calm demeanor and irreverence.
As per norm with Lily Morton’s books,I instantly became enamoured with her characters. They’re multidimensional, with good and bad sides, but always open to improve themselves. Her writing is brilliant and it’s easy to connect with Gideon and Eli. Together they’re amazing and hilarious. Their banter, humor and silly comebacks made me grin like a loon all through the book.
So,if you’re looking for a book that’s guaranteed to make you laugh and bring a smile on your faces every time you think about it, grab Gideon. I promise you’ll love it.
Gideon was a witty and snarky slow burn romance that could easily have illuminated the night skies of Cornwall once it finally ignited.
After his atrocious behavior in Milo, I knew Gideon would have a lot of ‘splaining to do in this book and that he would make a wonderfully layered and tortured hero. I happen to love main characters who are grumpy jerks, because it makes it so satisfying to see their transformations. Gideon certainly redeemed himself in this book.
One main observation from this installment – and definitely not a complaint – was that I felt like I got to know Gideon much better than I got to know Eli throughout this story. But that didn’t stop me from loving them both and wanting to see them get their well-earned HEA. Maybe it’s because I fell so hard for Eli that I just wanted more, like the greedy reader I am. Perhaps I’ll get my wish for more of Eli’s backstory…? Since Lily’s ability to make even peripheral characters vibrant and interesting, she has me craving to hear more from Eli’s two roommates and his boss next.
I also relished every scene that we got to hear from Oz, Silas, Milo, and Niall again. They’re such a great group of guys and the banter is always at its best when Oz is stealing the scene.
Gideon can be read as a standalone, but loving the first books as much as I do, I’d suggest reading them in order for the best impact.
