Gibson Barclay has been famous for almost seven years and he’s only twenty four.
Seldom does anyone pick up a magazine, newspaper or watch a television entertainment show, without seeing his image or reading about his promiscuous antics . He had no need to court publicity with his magnetic charm and charismatic ways; when he chooses to cooperate that is. Shrugging off the advice of publicists … publicists and image consultants, Gibson makes no excuses for who he is, and with no ties,he answers to no one about how he chooses to live his life. From teenage musician to twenties mega rock star, Gibson has seen and done it all. Women fantasize about him and men envy his rock scene, womanizing lifestyle. Only one person ever made Gibson feel uncomfortable about the way he lived his life. No one ever said no to him that he can remember, although there were two minute events that he has never been able to shake from his mind. Both of those events involved the way Chloe Jenner looked at him. It was something and nothing, but for him, the impact haunted him. In the strangest twist of fate, something so wildly obscure occurred, that set his mind ablaze with the memory of that small encounter. Like all women, Chloe found Gibson striking and had even shared with her friends, her own guilty fantasy about him. Fantasy and reality were poles apart and Chloe believed that Gibson Barclay never even knew that she existed.

Gibson has quite the legacy to live down, except it’s exactly what sells him, the band, and their music, so the management spins his reputation hard. Gibson has a heck of a time convincing Chloe he’s grown and matured. When they reconnect years later, they are both battling pasts they want to forget. This story is very intense, angsty. I couldn’t put the book down!
Yet another book by KL Shandwick I couldn’t put down.
The characters bring out all your emotions, you want to shake them, slap them, hug them and go for a night out with them.
Loved this book
Oh. My. Freaking. God!! Why am I only reading this now?!!! And why is KL a new to me author and I haven’t read anything by her before this point?! I have no bloody idea, but I plan to rectify that ASAP.
Chloe ‘meets’ Gibson as his band is taking off and to be honest, her opinion of him is pretty low! Fast forward five years and Chloe is handed a lifeline, quite literally.
As she embarks on this new journey she unexpectedly finds a new friend via a phone call mix up……this friend turns out to be much more than she expected! There were times I felt like shaking her because of how she ran hot and cold and judgemental but when you know what she has been through to get to this point, it’s totally understandable. And I just wanted to hug her. And Gibson? *sigh. Gibson, totally misunderstood and stereotyped by many, fighting to show Chloe the real him. Damn! Heart melted!!
I need to go and read Book Two now!!!
I haven’t read anything by this author before but I really enjoyed getting to know Chloe and Gibson they both have baggage in their lives but is fate playing them a hand are they just what each other needs for a happy future. I can’t wait to read the next book and see what else lays in store for Chloe and Gibson.
Chloe thinks Gibson is wrong the way he treats women and she’s in a relationship but can’t help the way that he makes her feel and that she wants him. Gibson sees Chloe but knows that there’s chemistry between him and Chloe and feels it, but she’s in a relationship and they’ve just been signed.
Years later Gibson is the rock star he wanted to be, and Chloe’s life isn’t what she thought it would be, but when something happens she knows she can change her life to something better.
A twist in the book has Chloe and Gibson meeting again, Gibson has never forgotten Chole and the connection he felt, he just hopes that he can convince her that she’s what he wants.
Gibson wants Chloe to look at him as the person he is now, not what he’s past says or the media, he just wants her to see him and give them a chance. Chloe is shocked when she finds out that Gibson is her wrong number, although she realises that he’s different from when she knew him before, and he’s trying, the chemistry is still there between them, she wonders if the hurt in her past can stop her trying.
I have just finish BETA reading this story, I’m so excited to share with you all.
Let me introduce you to Gibson Barclay the new love of my life (only in my dreams).
Gibson is the ultimate rock star, he certainly holds the power or does he? Woman literally throw themselves at him, along with their Knickers hehe!! I know right? well in all honesty he can have my whole knicker drawer, the man is a God.
He knows a woman’s body inside and out, he ozzes charm and sex appeal, he has seduction down to a fine art, but there’s more to him than that, he is an amazing musician, thousands and thousands of people want to see him, men only wish they had half of what he has, every woman wants him if only even for a brief moment, Gibson has never even heard the word no, he gets what he wants cause it is pretty much there on a plate for him.
Along comes Chloe Jenner, sweet Chloe, bless her, seen too much, heard to much but yet not lived enough. She has a brief encounter which leaves her stunned, no kissing, no touching just staring into the eyes of a man she has confessed to her friends she has fantasised about.
Chloe believes that Gibson doesn’t even know she exists, living in two completely different worlds Chloe often thinks of him.
This story has brought out so many emotions, I have felt moments of sadness followed by happiness, I have laughed out loud, I have even felt worry, yes it is one hell of a story, I think cause it is so close to real life, real emotions, there’s no alpha billionaire in this story but there is Gibson God Barclay, events that take place in this story could happen to anyone, I think it is that what makes it all seem so real, that and the fact that KL Shandwick can tell an epic story.
I wish I could share so much more with you al,l but I hating giving out spoilers. Let me just say this book is now in my top five, I definitely recommend this read as it has had me gripped. Thank you for sharing Gibson with me KL, I can’t wait to continue following this story.
Gibson Barclay, more than his Legacy! 5-Stars!
Let me tell you now, this book was everything that I love most about my absolute favourite trope!!! Cocky rockers at the top of their game, legends on stage and off, living life large and to excess. Author KL Shandwick captured it all within the pages of Gibson’s Legacy, and did it perfectly.
Barclay Gibson, lead singer for the band M3rCy, indulged himself in the sexual favours that avid fans had been all too happy to hand out freely, right from the moment they’d started playing during college. Hell’s teeth, the chicks even fought for the chance to be treated like used tissues to be trashed! And it was exactly this attitude that a young Chloe found disgusting back then, and now, even as she had been stunned by the connection created between them in just one long eye-catching stare during one of his not-so-private performances. He was destined for legendary fame, while her life took a path that gutted me.
Her face had haunted him for five years, and through fate he finally had his chance to get close to her.
KL Shandwick did such an amazing job of balancing Gibson’s desire to claim her, and their heavy chemistry against Chloe’s background, and ingrained belief that sex belonged inside a long-term relationship. In truth, as much as the strong connection was obvious between them, her struggle to take him seriously, and her view of his past behaviour just might prove that Gibson was on a hiding to none in trying to prove that he wanted a sole relationship with just her.
He was desperate to prove to her that he was so much more than his music and the womanising Gibson Legacy.
5 rocking stars for the first book in The Last Score series. I can’t wait to be hitting the next one!
Cocky rock-star
I loved the progression and build-up in this story.
The story begins with the main characters Gibson, a singer at the local bar with his band, Chloe is a worker at the same bar.
Chloe has seen Gibson in some awkward predicaments, in a nutshell, she has found him shagging a few times. Chloe’s character came across as frigid, a good girl who obviously isn’t as open about sex or sexual encounters as Gibson who had a prostitute as a mother, Chloe was embarrassed by finding Gibson having sex but at the same time turned on.
There is a chemistry between Gibson and Chloe and attraction that Chloe would never allow herself to act on considering what she has seen where Gibson the man-whore has been and so life goes on…
Following Gibson’s rise to fame, the story then jumps to years later, of course, Gibson is still a man-whore is world-famous and has groupies hanging off him but Chloe after trusting the wrong guy and being in a domestic abuse relationship is pretty much where she was all those years ago as a young woman who was yet to experience things.
A wrong number brings Chloe and Gibson back together. Call it fate, call it the stars aligning, I just hope it all works out for these two characters. I would definitely read more of Chloe and Gibson’s story which does finish on a cliffhanger, it’s heating up and I can’t wait for more. Although I normally like women with backbone, Chloe definitely didn’t have one which was annoying but she was growing on me, she was starting to grow as a person, experience things with Gibson that she never had before and she was learning to trust so fingers crossed I will grow to love her, I already do with Gibson the misunderstood Rocker.
Gibson’s Legacy A must-read for anyone who loves, cocky rock-stars.
Rock star books are certainly my thing and this certainly did not disappoint.
Gibson was famous not only for his band but for his reputation with the ladies. Having been famous since his late teens, he was used to getting what he wanted, when he wanted it and taking what was on offer.
Chloe had unfortunately ended up witnessing Gibson’s conquests on more than one occasion but this did not quell the intrigue she had for this hot as hell, bad boy rock star. After moving to New York to escape her violent ex, a chance wrong number phone call to her new number changes her life in many ways.
Gibson is determined to get Chloe to see the real him but the hangover from her previous relationship has left her unsure and not able to trust easily and when Gibson barrels in and things take a twist she has no choice but to follow him.
This is a great read with all the hot rockstar angst that you could wish for and if this is your genre you can’t go wrong with this book. And if not, then why not start with Gibson.
I absolutely loved this book. K.L. Shandwick has completely blown my mind with this book. Gibson Barclay is a complete rock god who you love to hate to start with. But then things start to change as you delve deeper into book. The herorine of the book Chole is someone you’re rooting for from the start.
I just love the way that K.L. Shandwick writes, she hooks you in and its difficult to put down until you’ve finished the book.
I’d definitely recommend this book.
Chloe and Gibson’s story was one I wanted to read for a while, glad I finally did, this book hooked me and rooted me to my seat. Gibson is a very complex character and I enjoyed that part of him. I love rockstars, but Gibson definitely surprised me. Their second chance has me wondering how everything will go, if it starts with a wrong number well anything can happen. The chemistry in undeniable and the plot story is entertaining so can’t go wrong with picking this up and have a great time.
An amazing rockstar read! Gibson’s a rockstar that often plays in the bar where Chloe works. Chloe and Gibson are attracted to each other right from the beginning. Chloe has encountered Gibson in compromising situations on several occasions and doesn’t have the best impression of him. Gibson thinks Chloe is innocent and sweet and definitely not the kind of girl he’s used too. They go their separate ways and five years later they reconnect again over a wrong phone call. No spoilers from me!! I absolutely loved this story and highly recommend you give it a read, you won’t be disappointed.
Chloe and Gibson is one story you can rock out to and get hooked for more
Gibson’s Legacy is another great Rockstar romance story penned by K.L. Shandwick.
Gibson Barclay has always been a cocky man-whore, even in his club singing days. As the lead singer of the hugely successful band M3rCy, he has access to an endless stream of women who are more than willing to tend to his needs. What I loved about him is that he knows this – it’s the way he has always behaved and he doesn’t shy away from acknowledging his previous behaviour, even when he is trying to impress. I also loved getting to know the real Gibson and seeing him consider how his actions in the past may have affected others. He is frustrated because he wants others to see the real him and not the public image that is portrayed, which I could totally understand. He certainly isn’t the man I originally thought he was going to be and although he could have dealt with certain situations differently, I felt it showed his human side.
Chloe Jenner and Gibson have met before and I enjoyed the way that they were introduced back into each other’s lives. They certainly have a connection and the sexual chemistry is off the charts! Chloe hasn’t had an easy time over the past few years and her story broke my heart. I could see and feel her reluctance to trust others and her hesitation regarding future relationships. She’s young and beautiful and deserves to be happy, and I truly hope that she gains the self-confidence and self-esteem to succeed in all areas of her life.
I love that the story is written in dual POV. Learning the thoughts and feelings of both Gibson and Chloe enhanced the story. However, when I read a book my preference is that the story should always progress and at times some of the scenes in this story were repeated, switching to show the other person’s side of a particular scene using the same dialogue which irked me a little. As I say, this is just the way I like to read and other readers may enjoy gaining a greater insight into a certain situation this way.
I really enjoyed reading Gibson’s Legacy. It certainly isn’t the first book by this author that I have read as she’s a favourite of mine. I am glad I can head straight into the next book in this series, which is Trusting Gibson, as I am intrigued to discover what happens next with Chloe and Gibson.
Gibson is a rock star with a reputation, it started before he and the band became famous and has followed him into adult hood. Chloe knew him slightly way back, enough to see how he earned said reputation. Though she feels she missed a chance back then she has no intention of becoming another notch to him. Life has been hard for her, a long term relationship has left her with little trust in men. A wrong number phone call hours after beginning a new life gradually sparks something inside her.
Lots of angst and misconceptions make for a bit of a roller coaster of highs and lows for this couple, it is intense and sometimes raw with emotion. Frustration for Gibson in trying to do right by Chloe but at the same time his need for her is overwhelming. For Chloe it is the fear of trusting again, the feeling of not being good enough and of just being someone Gibson wants only until he gets what he wants from all women then him dropping her like all the others.
This is a fast paced read with a good flow throughout, the emotions go through a full range right along with these two characters. Just the sort of read I love, I tend to get lost in the story and suck it all in, I get a lump in my throat when the characters are upset and I find myself clenching my fist when things are tense.
Only draw back is that this isn’t a stand alone book it continues into book 2, a bit like KL Shandwick Ready For Flynn Series so you need to be prepared to commit to that before you read. Do I feel its worth doing that? YES I do without hesitation, I enjoyed the other series and this first one in this series doesn’t disappoint in any way.
