Gia Santella Box Set – a review by Rosemary Kenny
A wonderfully heart-warming set of international thrillers with socialite/vigilante Giada Victoria Santella, aka Gia, as the strikingly beautiful heiress, whose early life has been shrouded in mystery.
Read all four novels in order, to learn what brought about the massive life and mind-set changes in Kristi Belcamino’s outstanding new heroine ‘from the multi-national block’to where and whom she is today!
Gia in the City of the Dead/Vendetta:
Gia Santella’s origins lie shrouded in mystery.
Why wouldn’t her parents let her see her birth certificate? Why did her mother love her waste-of-space older brother Christopher more than her?
How did her parents really die?
Brought up by her guardian, Vito, betrayed and duped by older brother Christopher while alive, Gia’s a vacuous socialite, until a shocking discovery leads to a riveting denouement In the eponymous City of the Dead.
Gia and the Forgotten Island::
I must be honest – the title has nothing to do with the plot of Kristi Belcamino’s second novel in the Gia Santella Boxed Set – in my humble opinion.
Gina’s story develops most entertainingly, as she moves away from her rebellious heiress mode, with less than endearing personal habits and a reluctance to commit to her boyfriend, Bobby.
As she changes into a responsible adult, Gia puts herself at risk, to try to find and rescue a close friend’s daughter, before it’s too late.
Will she succeed? Read Gia and the Forgotten Island by Kristi Belcamino to get the scoop on what happens next!
Gia and the Dark Night of the Soul:
Family, whether blood-related or those emotionally linked as much as if they were, is a major theme of Kristi Belcamino’s third novel in her excellent Gia Santella series, Gia and the Dark Night of the Soul.
Death stalks Gina, although sometimes he’s off-target meaning the innocents her pay the Grim Reaper’s grisly price on her behalf, leaving our heroine even more distraught and guilty as a result.
Believing her actual family are all dead, (murdered on the orders of her Mafioso godfather) Gia despairs of taking down the perps before she can trace the eponymous Queen of Spades – and kill her!
A deadly ‘game’ of hide-and-seek ensues, but gives more questions than answers, as it leads from her home in California to her family origins in Sicily.
Gia and the Lone Raven:
‘Nevermore’, quoth the raven, in Edgar Allen Poe’s poem and Giada ‘Gia’ Victoria Santella must surely be hoping ‘nevermore’ to see another such winged harbinger of death – she’s seen far too much of it already, though still in her early twenties – mostly that of loved ones.
Still mourning her lost love, Bobby and her BGF Danté’s husband Matt, Gia’s on a mission to win back Danté’s friendship and forgiveness – then go on a vendetta against the killers.
Unpredictable events lead to more than one fight for her life, though ultimately bring her a sense of moving in the right direction, as her Budo sensei, Kato, urges Gia to choose love over hate.
Kristi Belcamino’s excellent character-led action-thrillers tick all the boxes.
Gia’s an exceptional character and the Gia Santella. Crime Thrillers Box Set show she’s definitely on a fast climb to the top. Guaranteed reading pleasure!
What a fun character! Kristi Belcamino is amazing how she can continue to develop a character and you still can’t get enough.
