I thought this book was fast paced. Just when I thought I’d figured things out, I’d realize this twist in the story was perfect & I was dead wrong. The characters seemed real. I bought the 2nd book because of the first. I am about 5 chapters into it & I may stop. Instead of a good story, this new one is heavily into liberal politics. The author obviously lays her own politics into the story which is unnecessary. I’ll read a little further but she may have lost me as a fan.
Keeps the reader engaged
I loved this
Book
Kept me up had to finish it in one night.went to work late
Wow,a fast paced thrill a minute
made me want to read more in the series.
do good i want to read the next one in the series
I didn’t like Gia in the first couple chapters, but glad I finished it!
I mentioned somewhere or another that you can borrow books for free if you are a Prime member. This was one of the books I decided to take a chance with. This was non stop twists and turns as Gia set out to avenge her parents death–once she found out that they were murdered and did not die in a fire in their home!
Gia is definitely a force to be reckoned with as many who were trying to stop her found out! She felt unloved from when she was a child by her Mom–and she really did not like her brother at all–but when he turned up dead–she really goes ballistic. She suspects her beloved Godfather and confronts him—then he is found dead. Gia is the numero uno suspect–
She uncovers letters that her Mom left in a bank vault years before–and heads off to Italy.
What she ultimately finds out will astound you! This novel is a fast read simply because I couldn’t stop reading until the very end. If you like fast paced crime thrillers you will definitely enjoy this one!
Excellent Action story!
Vendetta was my introduction to Kristi Belcamino’s writing/storytelling. What an introduction, I’m hooked on the Gia Santella crime thriller series. Vendetta follows Gia from being a spoiled rich kid to a person who comes to realize life is more than staying drunk and shopping. The action in this story is very intense and I some instances it turns into a real rollercoaster ride. Sonja Field’s narration truly brings Gia to life. I’m looking forward to reading/listening to the rest of this series.
This is the book that introduced us to Gia Santella. It also introduced me to the author and now I am hooked on everything she writes. It combines locations and strong female lead in a world dominated by men. Gia’s lost the most important people in her life and will stop at nothing to make those pay for causing so much pain. Enjoyable friends are introduced and will become recurring characters in future books, and the reader has a sense of familiarity to their stories too. You will enjoy this series and others by Ms. Belcamino. I can guarantee this!
Gia in the City of the Dead/Vendetta – a review by Rosemary Kenny
Gia Santella’s origins lie shrouded in mystery.
Why wouldn’t her parents let her see her birth certificate? Why did her mother love her waste-of-space older brother Christopher more than her?
How did her parents really die?
Having been brought up by her guardian, Vito when her brother betrayed her and disappeared, Gia’s a vacuous socialite, until a shocking discovery leads to a rude awakening that reaches a riveting denouement In the eponymous City of the Dead.

Ah, Gia . . . . . what can you say? She’s feisty, vulnerable, flawed ~ human! And I love her! Ms Belcamino does a fabulous job of creating people ~ not just characters ~ you’d like to be friends with ~ and Gia is one of them. Thank you! Please keep writing!
Fantastic book love all the action and suspense. I even went got the bundle of the next 3 books.
A good read…
Loved meeting Gia. A tough, brash, but vulnerable character. Off to read more.
Unuseable book. Unusual mystery with a very flawed young woman. You will be on her side. She has taken the guilt of her entire family and has difficulty keeping her head above water. This girl really needs therapy but has no one left to give her guidance.
Kristi’s books were recommended to me and I acquired several as I worked on my reading queue. I enjoyed the prequel so much I binged my way thru 6 of Gia Santella’s adventures. A kick ass female on her way to finding her true self and her place in the world. Great characters and story. Non-stop action and layers of intrigue will keep you reading long after you should have been asleep.
I read this whole series. Couldn’t put them down. Great characters. Funny, thrilling, suspenseful. Best series I’ve read in a while.
Highly recommended!
It’s hard to view Gia, the heroine, with much sympathy. She’s spoiled and self-centered, and it takes her a long time to develop much consideration for those close to her.
