Once, I was nothing. Hungry, abandoned, wandering, and alone. An adolescent street rat fighting for crumbs. Then a chance encounter changed my entire world. A man in an expensive suit asked me how much my life was worth. I didn’t have an answer, because I didn’t know. He asked if I thought it was worth killing for.Impulsively, I said yes… He found me, then fostered me, and in the interim turned … fostered me, and in the interim turned me into a killing machine. A modern day La Femme Nikita.
Now, I only have one mission. To avenge the death of the man who saved me.
There’s an invisible war on the streets. Us against them. Family against family. Power against power.
They call me Ghostface Killer because they never see me coming.
I understand the weight of that danger.
The hazard.
The jeopardy.
Because now here I stand, three months pregnant with the barrel of a gun pressed to my head cause I never saw him coming…
GFK is a romantic suspense with dark elements. Reader discretion is advised.

I’ll admit, I read the blurb and saw the heroine was a pregnant assassin. I was skeptical, but I ventured away from my comfort zone out of pure curiosity. Plus, I was in the mood to try something different. I’m so glad I gave it a chance – this book did not disappoint me at all!
The female lead, Stevie, was completely badass. I couldn’t help but to love her. The hero, Baz, was completely broken, yet he and Stevie complimented each other perfectly and their steam factor was completely off the charts! But beyond that, it was an exceptionally well crafted dark story that was full of suspense. It was original, with many plot twists that I didn’t see coming. This was my first M Never book, and it certainly won’t be my last!
NOTE: Readers beware – there may be rape triggers for some people. However, if you skip reading the prologue, you’ll probably be fine with the rest.
I won an ebook in a Facebook giveaway.
Ghostface Killer is an intense read. The heroine, Stevie, got into trouble at age 14 for stealing. After a run-in with a stranger, she is handed over to a corrupt cop and from there placed into jail. Said stranger come takes her from jail, trains her, and builds her to be a killing machine; never seen, quick, unknown. Hence the name Ghostface Killer. Her loyalty is all wrapped up into this man so when he is killed she spends her adult life chasing after his killer, looking to avenge him. While so, she is employed by the guy’s daughter, who also isn’t exactly a thrilling character. She sends Stevie to do a job and this is where the complications begin.
I didn’t like how insta-love this book is. While the few chapters do span over weeks, I still found their connection happened so quick. Saying that, I can also respect that given the story, it needed to happen like this. This story isn’t about the falling-in-love part, but more the results of their love.
The pregnancy twist I love. I just love watching heros fawn all over their women in order to care for the child. In fact, even when Baz is out of his mind, he still cares for the child. It’s so heartwarming.
It’s a suspenseful read. There’s more to Baz and his family that emerges throughout. It was destiny these two met since they’re already fairly linked up.
I really liked Stevie. She had a fun way about her when she killed. She is loving to Baz and protective of their child. She fights to the end and I have mad respect for this character. Baz weirded me out at first. He was so on board with her when they met, then he turned into darkness, then loving protective father. In the end, he is a great character; it just took me a while to get to that.
Overall, good read!
This book is very emotional and will keep you on the edge of your seat. What a rough life Stevie had. It is amazing how she survived any of this and all the lies she was told as a child and young adult. Baz was the best thing to happen to her. So glad they survived all the family turmoil and this is an HEA.
When I was trying to decide which book to read first from this author that I’ve never read before, this book was recommended to me as a must. I don’t read many dark reads but this has a bit of everything. I definitely enjoyed it and to be honest the storyline was quite ‘refreshing’ because I don’t think the author held anything back and the heroine in this book was such a badass that put fear in everyone. That’s what I was anticipating when reading the synopsis of the book and it definitely didn’t disappoint me! I really don’t think this will be the last book I’ll read by this author.
Stevie is a homeless kid that steals to be able to live through another day. When one day she steals from the wrong man, she will be put through everything you never thought she would and at the end of the day, he’ll make her an offer she won’t ever be able to refuse. Now years later, she’s a trained killer who’s on a war path to avenge the death of the one who saved her. When she needs to take care of a job, she meets Baz and there’s something about him that makes her feel more than she ever thought she feel again. But nothing is as what it seems to be and when she has not only herself to protect, some truths will be revealed that will make her decide which path she’ll take next.
At the end of the rollercoaster, they both will have to fight for their future and to stay alive…
BE STILL MY HEART !!! UTTERLY MESMERIZING!!!
Title: Ghostface Killer
Author: M Never
Designation: Full-Length Standalone Dark Romantic Thriller, NO Cliffhanger
My Rating: Five Deliciously Dark Stars*****
Where do I even begin? It’s seldom I find myself at a loss for words but this story truly took my breath away and left me totally speechless. M Never was a new-to-me author so I did my usual due diligence and carefully read the blurb, some of the reviews as well as the free sample on Amazon. I decided it would be a fairly good read so I made my purchase and dove in. I thought I had a general idea of what to expect. I was wrong. It was nothing like I assumed and have never been more delighted. This wasn’t a good read… It was FABULOUS! I adore psychological thrillers, love spine-tingling suspense, and hopelessly addicted to dark romance, but give me the perfect combination of all three and I’m in heaven! And that’s exactly what M Never delivered! OMG! Be still me Heart! It was absolute perfection! So let’s talk details!
Ghostface Killer is a fast-paced, exceptionally well crafted, full-length, standalone, frighteningly suspenseful, dark romantic thriller and totally unlike anything I’ve read in quite a while. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with a single perspective from Stephanie ‘Stevie’ James. I’d like to go on record by saying I generally prefer my books to have dual his and her perspectives. I, often, find the story tedious with only one point of view, but this story is so skillfully written, I hardly noticed and was anything but bored. Fascinated, intrigued, riveted, mesmerized – definitely! Bored – NO! The dialogue is smart, snappy, seductive, gritty, well executed and flows effortlessly. The story is imaginative, unique, fast-paced, easy to follow, and deliciously dark, but it’s the cast of complex, intriguing, and exceptionally well-developed characters that truly steal the show. They literally explode from the pages, demand your undivided attention, capture your imagination, and hold you prisoner from the first page till the last. They were quite possibly the most instantly engaging characters of any book I’ve read this year. The entire ensemble of characters literally blew me away. I was completely captivated and immediately drawn into the story by the beautiful assassin Stephanie ‘Stevie’ James. Never really shook things up with her own special spin on this riveting tale of intrigue by giving us a badass antihero with a tortured, heartbreaking past but rather than the usual male assassin, it’s a young woman! Yup, you read that correctly! But Never doesn’t stop there. She also gives her readers Benjamin “Baz’ Sabatino, a charming, seemingly wholesome yet enigmatic male protagonist who is also panty-melting hot! Swoon! Stevie and Baz complement each other perfectly. The attraction between these two unlikely lovers is immediate, their interaction electric, their passion undeniable, and their sexual chemistry is so hot it sizzles. Meow! I thought my Kindle was going to spontaneously combust…and me right along with it! Swoon – AGAIN! But brace yourself, my lovelies, because that’s not all! Never ups the ante and kicks up her game with not one, not two, but a plethora of plot twists that you’ll never see coming! Be still my feeble old heart! I thought I was going to have a heart attack! No spoilers from me but I will say this… A beautiful badass young assassin with a tragic past who has never known love…until now-check! A handsome, charming young man who could be more than he seems but is targeted to be her next victim-check! Danger, drama, suspense, secrets, lies, deceit, betrayal, abuse, and plot twists galore-double check! Heart-wrenching angst, dreamy romance, and steamy sex-OMG YES! That and a whole lot more! Stevie is skilled, determined, dangerous, lethal, and never fails to eliminate her target – until now! But the real question is, will the hunter become the hunted? We’ll see! Oh my!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain violence, graphic language, and explicit sex, some of which is nonconsensual. If you’re sensitive to rape, this is a book you may want to skip but please know the rape does not involve the male protagonist. Will I read this author again? Abso-freaking-lutely! This may have been my first time reading this author’s work, but it certainly won’t be my last! Was I entertained? Completely! I was glued to my seat, riveted to my ereader with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the time flew as quickly as the pages. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. My poor Kindle was smoking and it wasn’t just from the speed I was turning the pages. Yeah, the sex scenes were that hot! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
I got a girl crush, and her name is Stevie and she could probably kill me with her pinkie finger, This woman is Bad as all get out, she is a trained assassin and she excels at her job. She never becomes attached to anyone because that shows weakness, but after locking eyes in her next mark Baz, she finds her exception she just can’t kill this sweet Mountain man with emerald eyes.
So story is everything their are so many amazing twist and turns and surprises all along the way. Baz is dealing with mental health issues hes not perfect and has some very low moments , but that what makes him perfect, Bravo to this author for making Baz like he is. So much love for this kick butt family.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Stevie was a fourteen year old on the streets struggling to survive. No one has really ever loved her and that’s all she has really wanted out of life. One chance encounter changes her whole entire life when the man in the expensive suit asks her how much her life if worth. Is your life worth killing for? Stevie’s answer was yes. He found her, fostered her, and trained her to be a killing machine. Now he’s gone and Stevie is on a mission to avenge the man who saved her. It’s war. Us against them. Family against family. Power against power. They call Stevie the Ghostface Killer because they never see her coming. No one knows who she is. She understands the weight of that danger. The hazard. The jeopardy, because now she is standing, three months pregnant with the barrel of a gun pressed to her head because she never saw him coming.
Get ready to devour what I would say is my favorite read of M Never’s. I fell so in love with these characters and actually tried to read slower so that the book would never ever end. I was actually sad to leave the world of Stevie and Baz. Can I just say too I love how she is called Stevie. Coolest female characters name ever. Simply because it fit her to perfection. Yes she is a killer. She was trained from the age of fourteen and put into the middle of a power struggle for the head of a family she knew nothing about. One assignment to kill one man in Colorado and her whole world is flipped upside down. Right along with Baz. And oh how I love Baz!!! He’s mine. I am claiming him now. He stole my heart from about he second line I read about him in the book. He is perfectly imperfect and I loved all the many sides to Baz. He and Stevie will take you on a journey of two imperfect souls looking for the purpose and meaning in life that they find in each other. It’s beautiful, heart stopping, edge of your seat, kindle melting reading at it’s finest.
You do not want to miss this book from M. Never. She never fails to write a book that I don’t devour. There was just something about this book though that stole my heart and had it in my throat nearly through the entire book. I was waiting on the bottom to fall out and what a fall it is.
I don’t very often find myself at a loss for words, but this story, WOW, just WOW!
I love this genre, dark romantic suspense and Stevie “Ghostface Killer” James is exactly the reason why, she is dark and twisted and resilient, expecting nothing from this world that she doesn’t go out and fight for. She is cold and calculating and has learned well not to fail, until she sets eyes on her next mark, Benjamin “Baz” Sabatino. Suddenly her well ordered life is, feelings, caring and chaos.
Their journey is dark and delicious and an edge of your seat thrill ride, with so many plot twists and roller coaster emotions I had to remind myself to breathe. I turned each page in anticipation of what would happen next, but never wanting it to end.
Just when you think you have this one figured out…think again.
Holy Plot Twist Batgirl! I so didn’t see that coming at the end. M takes you on a JOURNEY with this one to get you to the mutha of all plot twists at the end. Like seriously WTAF!
I actually struggled with the Prologue due to the trauma in it but, I pushed on and man am I glad I did. Stevie is BADA$$! Can I be her when I grow up please?!! This is Stevie’s story told from her POV and we get to understand why she became the deadly assassin that she is. She totally falls for her mark, er hello assassin’s 101, DON’T FALL FOR YOUR MARK! Anyway there is a lot of trust to be built between her and Baz and in amongst the craziness they form this beautiful relationship, that is tender and sweet but also possessive and all consuming. It is a fast paced, action packed, plot and I loved every minute of it.
Muffy Newtown narrates as Stevie and she is awesome. Her range of voices and emotions is vast. You definitely feel the urgency and desperation in her voice
If you are looking for an audiobook that will keep you guessing, this is it.
I was so surprised by this one, it was not quite what I was expecting but I LOVED it. Stevie is so much better than she gives herself credit for. She is contracted on a hit and once she meets him, she gets cold feet. Baz and Stevie were meant for each other and neither knows who the other is until much later. Their insta-lust is delicious and WOW the next thing that happens you won’t see coming!
As we get to know the characters better, we unravel lies and betrayals left and right, and ghosts from the past haunt the present. And let me tell you, there is a twist at the end you won’t see coming a mile away.
If you love a suspenseful story that will keep you on your toes, grab this one now. And while you are at it, grab Dangerously by M. Never as well. It will help cure your book hangover for a little while, at least until you are done with it.
Ghostface Killer is a fantastic dark thriller that left me wanting more of Stevie and Baz! I was pinned to the pages right from the start. Admittedly, the prologue is emotionally challenging due to its content, but necessary to the story. It gave me insight into Stevie’s character and enabled me to feel empathy for her. I was taken by surprise with each twist in the novel, which up the suspense factor. Stevie and Baz’s love scenes are SIZZLING HOT! Five Stars!
I can not get enough books to read from this amazing Author!!! I listened to this book on Audible and the Narrator, Muffy Newtown is extremely talented, gifted and she is amazing! Also, the epilogue!! Ohh my goodness Jacob Morgan, is swoonworthy and so sexy smooth!
Stevie, what a tragic life she has had! An orphan in a dysfunctional foster care system, she runs away and lives off the street. She has a chance encounter at the age of 14 that changes her life forever.
She is a trained assassin known as Ghostface Killer. She is beautiful and dangerous. One of her mission is a man in Colorado, named Baz. This encounter will and did change their lives, forever!
I loved this story line, and yes it does have disturbing dark parts. Unfortunately, it did make Stevie into a stronger and independent lady. This is a non-stop action packed plot, with surprises, and so many secrets revealed.
I would give it 10 stars if possible.
Oh Ghostfaced Killer is so good! I love love loved this audiobook! This female assassin romance is awesome and so well written it had me totally intrigued with Stevie from the very beginning with all the horrible things she was going through as a child. Oh but then becoming an amazing strong kick ass beautiful woman had me ready to bitchslap anyone that dared to interrupt me till I finished this story! It takes a turn when Baz enters the story and oh my it just got even better from that point on and never stopped! It’s definitely an addictive storyline that had my emotions jumping around like crazy! My stress level was so high with so many emotions bouncing around from the drama and unexpected twists and turns that I did NOT see coming! I went from being sad, mad, happy, intrigued, anxious, peeved, doubtful, excited and so many more feelings! When I thought I’d figured things out…oh hell no! I truly loved Stevie and Baz’s story as it played out and with all their sweet delicious sizzling hot as hell loving, I just about had a meltdown myself! Whew!
The narrators Muffy Newtown and Jacob Morgan did a fantastic job with bringing this awesome audiobook to life! It’s definitely one I’ll enjoy listening to again! Oh an Jacob’s popping in actually made the end for me but also about stopped my heart! I actually almost cried! That was a little evil of you M. Never! Fantastic book M! Loved it!!!
Ghost was her nickname, killing was her endgame . One thing Ghost never thought she would find would be a family & forever til she met Baz the man she was sent to kill. Baz & Ghost discover love for one another as the tangled web unfolds revealing the truth & answers they both need.
Wow, you just blew me away yet again!!! Such a clever dark romance with all its twists. Stevie pick pockets the wrong person at 14 that takes her life in a completely strange direction. Many years later she is one of the best assassins out there however when tasked to find a man named Baz Stevie just might find out all her life might of been a lie. Another great story from M.Never! Stand alone.
This book captivated me so much! I loved that there was a mix of romance and action, these tend to be some of my favorites! Stevi was so fierce and loyal. Baz really had those same attributes but in a different way. I loved the mafia action, the fierceness of her profession and the fierceness of her love. The entire book was just so amazing. I wish it had gone on forever and ever!
I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to hear Stevie’s story because OMG I couldn’t put it down. We start out with Stevie as a teenager and the events that took place that bring her to the life she has now. This woman is someone you definitely don’t want to cross, there’s a reason why she’s called the Ghostface Killer after all. When she encounters Baz all her rules change, I was hooked more then ever as more and more secrets are revealed and couldn’t believe some of the events that take place. What a story! Bump this to the top of your TBR list if you haven’t already.
I cant put down the book once I started to read it.. I was fortunate to receive the Arc and the book surpassed my expectation.. its sexy… seductive.. strong storyline.. I love how to see how the relationship progress between the character…
4.5 Stars
I knew I wanted to read this because it was written by M.Never beyond that I had no idea what I was getting into! Seriously enjoyed this story because it surprised me, it wasn’t what I thought, honestly I couldn’t have predicted this story. It was dark, dangerous, intelligent, real and sexy. I love how strong Stevie is, and was shocked at my own reactions throughout the story. I was pissed off for the things that happened to the main character, then I was angry and resolute, then finally in the end I was sad one second and happy the next. It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions to read Stevie’s story. Wow, just wow!
I’ve really enjoyed M. Never’s dark books so of course I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. The blurb had me hooked. I love female hitmen so I will say that my expectations for this book was a little high.
When I read the prologue that explains how Stevie ended up under Benny’s wing, I was so intrigued and couldn’t get enough of it. It was dark, raw and extremely gritty. Stevie goes through a horrific incident that leaves a mark on her for years. Then we jump 10 years later and we are introduced to the current Stevie. The Ghostface killer that she was trained to be.
While staking a mark, Stevie learns that she has this intense attraction to him. Quickly, lines are blurred and she can no longer fulfill her duty since she’s starting to fall for him. Thus begins a taboo relationship.
Baz has more connections to Stevie than she originally knows. He also suffers from some mental illnesses that causes him to be a bit crazy at times. I really enjoyed how he was portrayed and the different sides to him. At one point, he is the sweetest and charismatic man. At other times, he is downright terrifying.
While I enjoy the idea of the plot, I personally felt like the intensity and the darkness fell a little flat for me after the prologue. It really set me up with high expectations and unfortunately it didn’t completely follow through. This is just a personal preference. I like it dark and I just felt that it should have stayed that way. While there was certainly some suspense and drama throughout the book, I just needed more.
Overall, I did actually enjoy the book but I just needed more. I think this would be a good book for anyone who likes dark reads with a bit more lightness to them. If that makes any sense. Please don’t let my rating fool you. I did enjoy it and I think many people will absolutely love it. I’m a huge fan of M. Never and I can’t wait to get my hands on her next book.
