Bogged down and I had to make myself finish.
Very well written and fun to read. Lots of unexpected twists making a very good read
I devoured this book in one sitting, it definitely had all the feels. I highly recommend this book.
Want to know why you fell in love and he dumped you? “Ghosted” gives one very plausible reason.
A gentle love story that turns into a mystery. I loved this story, and finished most reluctantly. Smart, funny, heartrending and romantic. The mystery had me reading until the early hours of morning. In this modern era it’s hard to imagine being ghosted, and yet in today’s world it’s still hard to locate someone who doesn’t use social media – whatever their reason. Great emotional depth for her main characters, with an enthralling story and lovely twists and turns. I loved that the love story didn’t run in straight (and boring) lines, the result being more realistic, real emotions, real problems, real family dysfunction – and characters willing to push through their issues. More from this author, please!
Ghosted started at a slow pace and I had a difficult time staying engaged in the story for the first 25 percent of the novel. From that point, the tension began building and after the halfway point, I couldn’t put it down.
This book is worth the read.
I absolutely loved this book! The manner in which she laid out the characters and the story really hooked me–I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one day. If you like Lianne Moriarty (sp?) then you will enjoy this book. I can’t wait to read another book by Ms. Walsh!
We got off to a slow start, but soon I felt myself immersed in the story of Sarah and Eddie. I had a difficult time being able to call what would come next, so it kept me on my toes!
Really kept me guessing until close to the end. Love the characters and the story line!
Found myself rooting for both sides.
5 Things I liked about Ghosted
1. The premise. Love at first sight, a week of very well-created, believable connection, and then the guy disappears off the face of the earth. Her friends tell her he’s just not that into her, but the protag can’t buy it.
2. Said protag. She’s so vulnerable and honest, and I love that she DIDN’T buy it. She doesn’t trust herself in anything, and yet she trusted that this connection she felt was real and there was something else up.
3. The length/pace. Zoom! I read it on a two-hour bus trip and was totally absorbed but also could see I would be able to finish. (Score one for book-books instead of e-books. That really does bug me about e-books. I mean, I know you CAN see how much is left but it’s not the same.)
4. A big question for me with Ghosted was, why didn’t I put it down once I realized that there was a tragedy concerning the protag’s sister at the center of the book? I don’t usually like the whole “what-happened-in-the-past-the-protag-knows-but-you-don’t” trope when it has to do with tragedy. To be honest, it might have been because I was on a bus and I didn’t have another book. I had my laptop, though. And a magazine. So I wasn’t desperate. I think it was the voice, and the fact that the book had a hopeful vibe, but in a very engrossingly complicated way. Like, I can see this is all going to come together somehow but I can’t imagine how.
5. The mystery factor. I wanted to believe the protag—in fact I did believe her—and you BET I wanted to know where that dude went and why.
To sum up—fast fun and smart. Not perfect. As much as I wanted to and did believe the protagonist’s take on what had happened between her and the dude, it also took a little suspension of disbelief to get there—but hey, I will also buy wizards and ghosts and vampires, so why not a very lovely romantic connection? It didn’t HAVE to be perfect. It was engrossing and twisty and just the right level of exciting. (PS I did a video book chat of this with a more writerly perspective on IG–@kjda if you want a little more.)
I was swept away by Sarah and Eddie’s charming and surprising love story that kept me reading well into the night. A delightful, sometimes heartbreaking novel that I’m happy to recommend!
At some points I felt this book was so predictable, and then BAM, it would take a turn. I love that in a novel!
4.5 Stars
I really don’t think this book was marketed well or correctly. To me, it was a fairly straight forward romance with some mystery elements. I think if some people went into it with different expectations, the reviews would reflect that. I had no idea what to expect and had put off reading it because of the mixed reviews. In spite of that, I ended up loving nearly everything about the book. I read and listened to the story interchangeably and the audio was fantastic. It was a hard book to put down due to the need for answers after a number of fascinating twists. In fact, the author kept me in a state of light suspense for most of the book. Altogether, I enjoyed the creative writing style and I was highly entertained throughout.
I loved this book and finished it in a couple of days. Great romantic entertainment!
It’s great once in awhile to read a book that has such nice characters. I found these characters similar to Bridget Jones…nice, a bit goofy and sweetly romantic. I enjoyed this book.
Beautiful ending after wading through a heart wrenching muddle that is most of the book.
Three stars because this book was hard to get into, it had a very slow beginning that seemed to drag out, book finally picked up towards the end and became enjoyable, however I never felt a connection with the characters. Overall it was a ok read.
Too long.
Great book!
I enjoyed this book, and finished it very quickly. Easy beach read.
