I’ll admit that it did take me a while to get into the book. The premise had me intrigued, but it was only because I wanted to know what happened Eddie that I kept reading. As soon as I hit the half way mark, I couldn’t stop reading. I grabbed some Kleenex (I was crying at the backstory) and read the rest of the book that day, even though I had tons to do. The story after the halfway mark was that gripping. Despite the slow beginning, I give the book 4.5 stars.
Slow to start, but once the story gets going I had to keep reading.
Has a different type of mystery
While on her annual visit home to England Sarah meets Eddie and they immediately hit it off. A one day meeting at a pub turns into a magical seven days spent in his home falling in love. Or so Sarah thought. As she leaves at the end of those seven days, they exchange all information, including phone numbers and friending each other on Facebook, and Sarah never hears from him again.
OK, let’s be honest here, we have all been Ghosted. Did I know there was actually a term for what has happened in the past? Nope! When it happens to you, it’s very easy for that worry to turn into an unhealthy anxiety. In Ghosted, the novel, Sarah knows this happens to people but she can’t help wonder if something had happened. After all, she knew their feelings were true and couldn’t be one-sided. 90% of this novel is from her POV, so we only feel what she’s feeling and even though she gets kind of crazy you just know there is more to Eddie’s story.
This novel was part love story, part mystery and every bit of it fascinating. As I learned more about Sarah’s life, I really wanted this happiness to be real. I wanted her to be allowed to have this one thing that was wonderful. Her restless energy imbued me as I was reading the novel making it hard for me to sit still and finish it. Two thirds of the way through the novel the author took a sharp turn that enabled us to FINALLY get Eddie’s POV. My feelings about him shifted dramatically when I got to see what was inside his head.
I really liked this story. I will admit that as a woman, it’s hard to read from Sarah’s POV because it brings back all of those moments of uncertainty from my single days, and that was before we had all of the technology we do today. Then it was just unreturned phone calls. Now there are so many other forms of torture available! I am so glad that I stuck with this novel to the end. The ending was fabulous, but more because by living through Sarah’s pain and uncertainty her resolution became the reader’s own. It was a great feeling!
Slow moving until well into in the book. A woman rejected by her lover is unable to let go. Slowly, the story unravels and we learn she has also lost her sister, and finally the reason her lover left. Different.
Couldn’t put this one down! Great read! Surprising twists in the plot. Interesting characters.
It was okay – not my favorite but a good read.
I recommended this to my sister, and she’s hard to please!
This book was great to read on a dreary, rainy day because reading a good book on a dreary, rainy day is one of the best things to do in the entire world.
I like the way the author integrated the present with the past. It made for an interesting read. I felt as if all the characters were easy to relate to and the relationships real. I kept thinking – ok, this is the big reveal other reviewers wrote about, but it really wasn’t until the very last pages that all ends were ‘tied up’. I recommend reading this book, rainy day or not!
Loved this book!! I’m not a fan of romance but this one was exceptional.
Will read this author again.
I loved this book! I never wanted it to end!
Stated a little slow, surprise ending!! Great story!
A surprising twist; very engaging. An excellent read!
Very happy this story picked up for me as I took two attempts to get through. Although, I had to skim through most of it, because imo it was awfully slow and full of everything but what I was really looking for, Eddie and Sarah’s love story.
Sarah became super pathetic after awhile, made me cringe. That spells desperate, not love for me. Ha!
The twist was unexpected, and I give that a good 3 star. But overall, I did NOT like how the story flowed. Got bored many times. . .
P.S. cute ending though.
It started off very well, but then the story just got boring and predictable
was not impressed with this book at all – could not finish
This is one of those “can’t put down” books.
A wonderful love story — achingly sexy, modern, heartbreaking — with the most fantastic twist.
Ghosted is an intricate puzzle of a novel, beautifully crafted and deeply moving. Rosie Walsh’s depiction of love in all its forms is equal parts heartbreaking and heartwarming; I was engrossed until the final poignant moment.
Romantic and tragic. Great read.
