His search leads him to Holmestead, and a stubborn, fascinating American who has acquired the box that once contained the rare jar.
When the missing jar turns up, clutched in the hand of the very dead local historian, Martin becomes the prime suspect. With his future on the line, Martin turns to Maggie for help, and they join forces to find the real killer.

I liked this book a lot. Really liked the characters and the story was interesting and surprising in spots.
I don’t understand the title for this book as there aren’t any ghosts in the story. It’s a rather cute little mystery if you can get past the juvenile romance the author felt compelled to insert. Really don’t need so much of how she thrills to his touch or how he can’t get her off his mind–it is repetitious and their attraction could have been handled far better.
I enjoyed it. A little different than I expected.
I liked the characters and the relationships between them. The setting was rather charming and the occupations of the characters unusual. It is building to be a fun cozy series, and well- written, which many of the lighter ones are not.
Surprises every which way never saw the ghost as much as could
Not generally a fan of the cozy mystery genre as I like a little more meat with my stories, but it was interesting and some good characters, and good potential for the other stories to follow.
I enjoyed this book and the characters. I’m more into the light easy reading. I can smile at the antics.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to reading the next one in the series.
Loved this book and will look forward to reading more from this author.
Title misleading, like the “ghost” was an afterthought.
It was too easy to figure out who the murderer was.
Very much enjoyed the story. It is an entertaining, easy read and I do recommend it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not at all formula-driven same-old, same-old stuff.
I enjoyed the characters and, although I had figured out who the murdered was, I was really surprised by the henchman! I went back and read that part again because I thought I had misunderstood! If I had one criticism, I actually wanted the ghost to be more involved! Can’t believe I said that! Usually it is way too overblown for my taste. This is a good read!
Here’s the first of a cozy novel series that introduces a village worth visiting again.
There is something delightful to walk down the streets of an English village with a woman starting a new life.
Great book.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’ve put Cate Dean on my list of “must read “ authors
Easy Read for a wonderful day off, Iove the surprise at the very end. Was so worth the wait.
It was OK, but I didn’t think it was very well written
I found the book very. Enjoyable, well written.
