Welcome to Holmestead, England ~ where an American ex-pat, an archaeologist, and murder turn this picture postcard village upside down.Maggie Mulgrew runs The Ash Leaf, an antique shop in the quaint village of Holmestead, England ~ which has nothing to do with Sherlock, thank you very much. She sells her goods to disappointed tourists, and locals who appreciate her eclectic taste.Professor … taste.
Professor Pembroke Martin is hunting down an artifact that had been stolen by a former assistant ~ a hand-blown apothecary jar that is the center of an old ghost story. His search leads him to Holmestead, and a stubborn, fascinating American who has acquired the box that once contained the rare jar.
When the missing jar turns up, clutched in the hand of the very dead local historian, Martin becomes the prime suspect. With his future on the line, Martin turns to Maggie for help, and they join forces to find the real killer.

Enjoyable cozy with allusions to paranormal elements. The MC seems to be finding her own life after moving away from parents who stifled her.
A very nice cozy mystery. But the ghosts were not an important part of the plot, despite the name.
great characters! great fun!
it good
too hard to follow or enjoy
It’s a fast read, entertaining.
Loved the book
Another formulaic series with stereotyped characters. Not Belgian handmade truffles, but sometimes mainstream chocolate hits the spot.
Entertaining mystery that uses ghosts to help solve a murder. Far fetched but interesting.
This book was so exciting I hated to put it down. It was so unlike any of the other cozy murder mysteries I love to read. Fresh, new material, and very creative. I loved it!
The book was wonderful
Nice start to an interesting series…I liked the touch of history, more would add to the story. A fun read!
I enjoyed this light mystery
Even though I was expecting something a little different than what I got, I still liked the book and would read more from this series.
I read all six of the books in this series, they are light reading with a plot and a little mystery thrown in. Just the escape I needed.
Good character development. entertaining. I would read the next book in the series.
I love the characters Maggie, Spencer and Martin. I like the friendship between Maggie and Spencer. I also liked how Maggie won over Enid. I was surprised who was helping the murderer, whom I guessed. I also liked how Maggie was introduced to the ghost, though not until the end. Looking forward to reading more about Maggie and Martin, they do seem like kindred spirits. . .and the ghost.
A good, easy read with no blood, violence, or child abuse.
Easy to read, good characters, not really about a ghost.
Great fast read! What a way to spend an afternoon with hot chocolate!
