How well do you know the lover in your bed?It was the hottest hookup of her life. When Tess Barrett spent the night in the arms of the too sexy to be real stranger, she knew she was walking on the wild side. Sex with James Smith was the best EVER. How was she supposed to walk away from that? From him? So…she didn’t. They planned secret dates. More body-melting hookups. The white-hot sex should … The white-hot sex should have been enough.
So why does she start wanting more?
But they have rules. She has rules. No emotions. No ties. She has a past that is dark and twisted, and she’s worked hard to become a new person. She’s a doctor now. Respected. Controlled. Except…there is no control when she’s around James.
A bad guy…might be falling for the good girl.
James can’t keep his hands off his sexy little doctor. She’s buttoned down for everyone else but goes absolutely wild for him. Sure, she doesn’t know his history. Doesn’t know that the man she lets touch every inch of her body used to spend his days working for Uncle Sam and doing some seriously dirty deeds. What she doesn’t know can’t hurt her, right? And if she ever did learn the truth about him, he knew it would terrify his sweet doc right to her core. Terror would make her run. He doesn’t want her running. He just wants her in his bed.
But then…something happens. Danger sneaks up on Tess. She needs help—a very particular expertise and protective skill set. She needs someone lethal and strong…and James is just the man for the job. After all, lethal is his middle name.
Hello, dangerous times.
When James steps in, Tess doesn’t know if she should be grateful or scared to death. Because her gorgeous lover? Turns out he has plenty of mad and dangerous skills. She’s been hooking up with a superhero or…maybe a super villain. It’s sort of hard to tell the difference.
For the moment, she’s going to go with feeling grateful…but as she learns all of his secrets, Tess wonders what will happen next between them. Will they crash and burn? Burn, baby, burn. Or maybe, just maybe, they’ll actually have a GHOST OF A CHANCE at getting a happily ever after ending.
Author’s Note: James Smith is one mad, bad, dangerous guy…but sometimes, bad guys fall hard for good girls. GHOST OF A CHANCE is super hot, charged with lots of feels, and, it’s got some pulse-pounding action for you. Dirty words and dirty deeds are dead ahead. Oh, and there’s plenty of fun thrown in, too. Mystery, humor, sexy times, and danger—all of my favorite things in a book.

These two are explosive together. James Smith is dangerously sexy…the author blended all my favorite elements into a single character .- “Possessive. Protective. Primitive.” And I love that Tess can make him lose control. Tess’s mouth has no filter which leads to some interesting moments. There seems to be danger coming at them from all directions…kept this reader wondering what was going to happen next.
I am a sucker for a dangerous, sexy, bad-a** of a hero and James Smith is definitely the baddest and most dangerous hero of them all! James had a wild and sizzling air abut him that was really irresistible and all around HOOOOOT! And him getting together with a woman like Tess made me swoon and sigh something fierce. These two have the most amazing chemistry that I could feel spark and sizzle straight off the pages and it was exhilarating.
Ghost Of A Chance was magnificent and wild and all consuming with the best kind of plot and the romance just reached inside my chest and melted my heart from the inside out. I fell in love with the story and how beautifully woven it was. It is my favorite Wylde Ways novel yet!
Ghost OF A Chance gets a DANGEROUS AND EXHILARATING FIVE SCORCHING HOT STARS!
We met James Smith in Fighting for her ans I was hoping we would get hi story and when we did boy was it something special
James knows that he isn’t a good man he has done many things that he isn’t proud of but at least he did them for his country but he knows his hands will never be clean Then he meets Tess she is an ER doctor who tells it like it is She want’s a no strings attached affair because she also has a dark past ad she believes no one would be able to handle she barely does. The only problem is that emotions are starting to grow between these two and they are both starting to want more When danger from the past comes back to haunt them they will need to fight for a future but the men of Wilde will be at their back
OMG!! Talk about intensity!!! This book has it in spades!
With the exception of two close friends, Tess is a loner. She works, goes home and works some more. She doesn’t have time for anything more, and that is by her choosing. But after a particularly awful day, she decides to take one night with James and soon finds herself needing him for more than just one night.
James has a past that has left his hands covered in blood. From the minute he lays eyes on Tess the empty place that was once his soul begins to mend itself. But there are rules in place between them and even as it kills him to adhere to them, he waits and watches for her return even as he knows his past could very well catch up to him one day.
Tess may have been a bit broken, but she was always forthright and down to earth. She always said what was on her mind even when it might not be the socially acceptable thing to say. Her past was rough and yet the worst of it helped her to become a pretty incredible person. I loved that James was drawn to her quirky truthfulness because I was too.
***”You heard me. Stop being —-ing adorable. It’s distracting. And you do it all the time. I’m starting to think you do it deliberately just to throw me off my game.”
***’The woman then had the nerve to march back for the door, all determined like, as if she was about to leave him. Like she was going to appear, decimate his world, and then vanish once more.
Pure Tess. Unpredictable. Maddening. Determined. Was it any wonder he was hooked on her?’
With an even darker past, one forged by death and survival, James was pretty intense. Probably one of the most intense heroes I’ve read outside of a “dark romance”. It was that very intensity that initially made me keep turning the pages. He’s definitely my type of hero with his driving need to protect Tess.
***’”Want to destroy anyone who hurts you.” He knew his words were wrong. Too savage and dark, but she didn’t get it – that was who he was. He was savage and dark, and he wasn’t a safe lover, not by any means.
Yet she was safe, with him. He would always keep her safe.’
This plot is built with layer upon layer of mystery, suspense and danger. I never suspected how it might end until it began to unfold piece by piece. I was glued to this from the very beginning, first because of the characters and then because of the intensity of the story as the end drew near. With some humor added via a few of the Wilde agents, this was a perfectly rounded out book that will definitely be reread in the future.
Sometimes a Bad Boy Can Be Sooo Good!!
I knew as soon as we met James Smith in Fighting For Her I wanted to know more about the mysterious Ghost and to see him get his HEA. This book did him justice and so much more. Tess and James are my favorite Wilde couple so far. Tess Barrett is out with friends at a club when she sees him and can’t stop staring. She doesn’t have time for a relationship so they agree to no strings sex. James has that mysterious Bad guy alpha thing going on that she can’t resist. There is always a element of suspense to keep the pages flying. I really loved watching as James and Tess’s backstory unfolds. Two people who never needed anyone find that one person they can’t live without. But somehow the past always comes back to haunt you.The Wilde team is on hand to watch his back. I know Lincoln and Blair’s book is next and I’m still waiting for Cole to get his own book. That man is always catching hell.
What a great pairing. Tess is an ER doctor who has a traumatic past that has shaped her future. She’s one of my favorite kind of heroines because she was completely upfront and honest with James. That seems to be a rare find, so I love it even more when an author gives us this kind of heroine. She is a bit socially awkward but I think that added to her appeal.
If you have read this author before, then you know James is the kind of hero that took one look at Tess and his focus shifted. He saw the connection and went after it. Another trait I just love to see in a main character. He also has that appeal of a darker hero who would do anything for there heroine. And he proves that.
The suspense was good and leaves you guessing on who could be the real person behind things. I won’t give any hints but lets just say, well done with how that came together. I like that it ended up being more.
Tess is an emergency room doctor and doesn’t let people close to her or talk about her past. Her and two friends go to a night club and sees a sexy man at the bar. He was
Is over and asks her to dance. James is a former assassin but is a night club owner now. He was the baddest of the bad and still is in ways but killing isn’t a part of his life. Tess and James have a white hot one night stand, Tess puts down ground rules and James agrees. But James decides to change the rules and wants more from Tess. Then it looks like Tess’s past has shown up and James will move heaven and earth to keep her safe.
I freaking loved this story. You have action, smart ass friends, sex, and a story that will keep you reading long into the night. Linc and Blair’s story is next and I can’t wait.
