Ghost of a Chance is a cute and sweet holiday cozy novella by Angie Fox and narrated by Tavia Gilbert.
Frankie and Verity are enjoying their own holiday when a ghost they’ve met before, Major Jackson comes around asking for a favor.
This short in the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries was a heartwarming holiday edition. It’s fun, enjoyable, and sweet. It was nice to have Verity and Fankie banter their way through another ghostly assignment.
Audio: Tavia Gilbert is a fantastic narrator. I just lover her voices for the characters.
Ghost of a Chance is a quick short story between two of the larger novels in the series. I would recommend listening or reading in order. I had a blast with this sweet fun holiday novella.
Rated: 4 Stars
This was a fun short listen! When I finished listening to the previous installment in the Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery series, I had about another hour of time to fill so I decided to dive right into this short story. I feel like this story would work well on its own without having read any of the other books in the series.
Verity and Frankie go to work at a party in order to help a ghost we met in the previous installment retrieve an item that he needs. Verity is working a party serving food but there is a ghostly funeral occurring in the same space. Nothing seems to go as planned. I couldn’t wait to see how Verity would be able to do achieve her goals. Tavia Gilbert’s performance was wonderful and added to the overall experience.
I would recommend this story to others! I think that this was a very entertaining story which would be an ideal way for readers to give the series a try. I definitely plan to read more of this series just as soon as I can.
This is my first book by Angie Fox. I’ve been wanting to try her books for a long time but just never got around to it. I’m so excited I finally did because now I’m moving onto my next book by Angie. And I love the narration that Tavia did.
When the ghostly spirit of the former Union officer, Major Matthew Jackson, decides to propose to his ghostly sweetheart, Josephine, he comes to Verity Long for help. When he was a living man, his mother had promised to give him a family heirloom, an opal necklace, to present to his bride-to-be when the time came. With his early death, a casualty of the War Between the States, that time never came, and with his alliance on the side of the Union, he had been banished forever from his home in Sugarland. However, his mother’s spirit still haunts the old homestead, and since he cannot approach her himself, he is hoping that Verity, with her ghostly gangster friend, Frankie’s help, can act as a go-between and retrieve the necklace.
This is another creative addition to the “Southern Ghost Hunters” series by Angie Fox. Series readers will have met most of the characters involved in the previous entries and it was especially nice to continue with Matthew and Josephine’s relationship. Frankie is his usual crabby yet fun-loving self with Verity caught in the middle of everything living and deceased. As with the previous stories, there are some poignant moments with the spirits of the departed. Hug your loved ones and let them know how feel while you can.
Great read!
A wonderful Christmas story of love that spans over a century. Matthew the Union Major Verity met at the library wants her help to get a necklace his mother promised him he could have when he got engaged. She has to figure out a way to get a ghost locket for Matthew.
Wonderful Christmas story about acceptance, friendship and love. I’m really enjoying the expansion of some of the more interesting ghosts in the series and seeing them get a happier ending after years of suffering.
Enjoyed so much had to buy entire series. Quick read
This a sweet Christmas short story. A friend asks Verity for help and she and Frankie goes to worke.
I highly recommend this series as well as the authors other series.
