One of those that you can put yourself in it. Great story!
Good cozy mystery. Will definitely read more of her books. Only one caveat – The protagonist, though well written, is a bit too pushy about telling people what she’s found out. Almost makes her the Ugly American in the little village in France.
There are days one longs for a light fun read…this is it. If you love a bit of murder, tea, good friends and a dash of magic…join in. Love small town mysteries. Em is the type of friend everyone wishes they had in their life….a great listener, loyal, and she knows her potions! If you hear noises in the night, you do want her close by.
The other characters are well done and easy to relate to from her best buds Harlow and Murray to her kids Miranda and Kip.
The mystery is well plotted and the ghosts and goings on keep you reading. There’s even a budding romance to keep your heart going pitter pat. I will definitely read the second one, I love a good fun series!
Fun opening to the series, although I read them out of order. Likeable characters in a story that moves quickly. Good blend of setting, personalities and action.
Great book, couldn’t put it down. Loved it!
Absolutely awesome. Witchery with mystery, mayhem, laughter, sadness, all tied up in a wonderful bundle of reading. Cheers to the author, I hope to see more and look forward to reading them. Thank you for your efforts. J
This kept me guessing with the ghosts, possible murder and suspense all through the story. Finished book on this cloudy rainy day.
I’ve read all of the books in the series and loved them! Can’t wait for #7 to come out later this year. I am branching out to move books by this very talented author.
A very easy read, kept me up when I should of been sleeping.
I loved it. Great story and we’ll written
I feel like the parenting came from someone without kids. Often forgiveness for awful behavior on the part of adults. Pretty meh.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it was hard to put down at times! Very nice how it was put down, having you to look forward to what was coming up next!
Great author
a GREAT READ!
I hoped this would be a fun pre-Halloween book to read. Ghosts, mystery, and a quaint tea shop set in a small northwestern Washington town sounded perfect. I usually start out by rating all books as a 5 and then proceed to take away stars if there are any glaring problems with the writing, plot, characterization, etc. Which is why I often give 5 stars to books I do not love. I do not want to punish a writer or his creation just because I didn’t personally love a book.
With that being said, this writer has no problem with the written word (in fact, she is definitely talented); however, if you’re going to create a series, you need to get readers engaged and invested in the characters–that didn’t happen for me. The protagonist was at times very smart and savvy, but the next moment seemed just the opposite. It’s difficult to love a character who is so contrary. So why take away three stars in my rating? (see warning below)
FYI: I would NOT consider this a “cozy” mystery. This book contains offensive adult language and explicit sex. Call me a prude, but the language and sexual content ruined it for me. This book was definitely not “my cup of tea.”
Loved it!
Emerald O’Brien encounters the ghost of a local author telling her that her husband murdered her. Trying to prove that, Emerald and her family are plunged into a nightmare of spirits and a killer that very nearly gets them all killed.
LOVED the characters!
This is an interesting, exciting ghost story. The ghost needs help solving her murder in order for her to move on. Unfortunately, her death was ruled accidental, a diabetic coma that slipped into death. So the ghost appears to Emerald, the town’s psychic asking for help. But things become more complicated, because there seems to be another evil presence trying to prevent the ghost from helping solve the murder. The evil “Mr. Big & Ugly” is terrorizing the ghost, Emerald, her family, and friends. On the bright side, the situation has brought Emerald together with Andrew, and a romance kindles. On the dark side, a malignant entity has been released. An unexpected cause of the haunting is discovered. An exciting exorcism, and more ghosts. The truth is finally revealed in a surprising finale.
Awesome story line. Love the author.
