Dean Torres is the dead man’s detective.
With a knack for talking to spirits, Dean’s job is to help the deceased find closure and pass on to the other side—when he’s not being needled by his sister-in-law’s ghost, that is.
But when a suspected haunting ends with a grisly murder, Dean finds himself thrown into a case much bigger—and deadlier—than he anticipated.
With a potential serial killer … potential serial killer on the loose and a ghostly client demanding justice, Dean teams up with a local witch as he races to unmask a twisted, powerful murderer.
Will Dean be able to stop the killer from taking another victim—or will he join the spirit world himself?

Ghost Magnet by Lori Drake is an awesome story to read. I loved reading this story very much cause it has ghost and mystery in the story and I can not wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and suspense in their stories.

Fun, witty, paranormal mystery with enjoyable characters (I love Dean!), snappy dialogue, ghosts with attitude—and an adorable dog named Sadie.
It took me a bit to orient myself into this story but I believe from reading other reviews it is because I have not read the Grant Wolves series yet. Honestly even without the backstory this was a really enjoyable read with a fast paced story-line that keeps you reading.
I had difficulties downloading this book for some reason. I received it as an ARC from Booksprout and had to try 3 times before I was able to open it. I generally don’t have any issues so I am assuming it was just a glitch in the system.
The MC Dean is a bit of an anti-hero but I like a multi-layered character and I enjoyed that he leans towards doing what is right and can play the hero but is also willing to walk the edge of the darker side of dealing with issues. This book has a very interesting world and characters and I am probably going to check out the Grant Wolves series.
Overall, I would suggest reading this book but to save any confusion in the plot and timeline I highly suggest reading the Grant Wolves series first.
I received a copy of this book from Booksprout for an honest review.
The story line was good, the character work was great, and the book had a smooth flow to it. This is the first book by this author that I’ve read, but it won’t be the last. I look forward to the next book.

having read the Grant Wolves series I always felt there was an opening for a spin off Dean or Jessica/Sam story arc. This is not what I thought Dean’s story would be. I imagined it as a story of how he learned what he knows, about his time in Mexico, etc. This is better.
It took me a bit to orient myself in the timeline. I also feel like there should have been overlap that there wasn’t.
If you haven’t read Grant Wolves yet, do that before reading this book, and before reading the next paragraph, there are GW spoilers.
if Adelaide was dead, there was only about a week before the alpha challenge that had Joey moving in. The alpha challenge took place the day before the funeral. Dean said Adelaide had been dead a couple of weeks. Nowhere in this book did it talk about either the time frame of everyone had to live in the Grant house OR that Joey was living at Chris’s’house. It didn’t impact the story, but it did confuse the timeline for me.
Love Dean. Love Amber, Love Trish. these primary characters are well fleshed and consistent in their behaviors.
The story -that a very annoying woman was murdered after Dean was unable to help her and Dean is compelled to help her after her death- is well done. It could have come out reading like a formula but the author neatly avoids that trap.
Overall, I would suggest reading this, but only AFTER finishing the Grant Wolves series.

This is a well written book with strong well developed characters and an entertaining story line. The author does a great job building the story and pulling you in with all the intrigue and humor. It’s a fast paced story and I enjoyed reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
That was awesome. I read the first four books and Dean was in them. I liked him then. Trying to help and almost getting himself killed. This is his story I hope Ms. Drake makes him a series all to himself. I really liked the way he is. Now he is becoming something else. I would like to find out more. Very awesome story. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
