Contrary to what many people think, most ghosts aren’t all that chatty. They like to pop in and out and leave cryptic messages that take forever to figure out.
Take the groundskeeper at my son’s lacrosse park: I know he’s trying to tell me something, but his mysterious messages and finger-pointing are impossible to understand.
And when my son’s lacrosse teammate goes missing, I know that ghost … know that ghost knows something. But getting him to talk about it is harder than getting my teenager to unplug from his video game!
Just as the puzzle begins to take shape, I start to realize that the situation is even worse than I had thought.
And then my own son disappears.
Now it’s all-out war…
Because nothing can stop a mother from saving her child.
If you like Southern paranormal cozy mysteries, you’ll love this stand-alone cozy mystery!

Clever, witty and imaginative! Great, multi-faceted characters. Very interesting plot. Vivid descriptions. Kept me intrigued from the first page to the last. Simply a GREAT read!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Humorous with a touch of the paranormal. Entertaining.
Ghost from the Grave is the fourth book in the Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium series by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. I have read a couple books in this series and I must say, each book gets better and better. I have thoroughly enjoyed the evolution of Chantilly and her “gifts” along with adapting to her now not-so-new life with her son Austin, in Castleberry, Georgia as this series continues.
When Chantilly gets messages from a dead groundskeeper at the lacrosse park her son’s team play’s on – she knows to be on the lookout for something, and it can’t be good. Chantilly must also contend with the bullying ways of John Bennett as he tries to sway the Castleberry Georgia Historical Society into allowing all the changes he wishes to make to his historical property. I truly laughed when Olivia said the following about Mr. Bennett:
“He does act like someone’s peed in his grits every time I see him.”
I also loved the description and commentary on Delphina (Del) Beauregard from Chantilly:
“Del would, by definition and implied meaning, be a spinster. She wore a permanent scowl and scared most everyone in town with her grouchy personality, but buried deep underneath that scowl – and I mean really deep – was a kind heart.”
“She’s our friend and she would die to help her friends, so she gets a pass.” And if she did die, she’d better come back as a ghost or I’d be pitching a fit the size of her homemade biscuits. Del knows how I feel about that because she knows I can see the dead.
The interactions between Del and Thelma were definitely chuckle worthy – as they have been throughout the series.
What struck me is that this book has it all -> a bit of romance, mystery and suspense. I was kept on the edge of my seat until the end figuring out the mystery. Chantilly had to figure out a murder from the past in order to solve the present day mystery. In the romance department – a bit of a hiccup, which one hopes will get resolved in future books, one way or the other.
All in all – a fun, intriguing and escape from reality read. So get cozy with a fire, hot chocolate and a few hours to read and enjoy Ghost from the Grave for yourself!
5.0 out of 5 stars Another awesome adventure with Chantilly and friends!

I absolutely love the characters in this book! This series always feels like coming hone when I read the books. This story is AMAZING! Things hit a bit close to home and Mama Bear is ready to roll! The story is well written and has so much action and emotion packed into it. I can’t wait for the next story to come out. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion. Read this – you won’t be disappointed!
Best one yet! I really enjoy reading the books in this series. They are well written with great characters. I look forward to more.
This book scared me. Not in a horror story way, but in a, this could really happen kind of way. Very intense, but with some great funny moments. Thelma and Del are just a laugh a minute! I loved the part with the rifles. Chantilly has such patience dealing with a spirit that doesn’t speak. She is still able to work things out eventually. I loved the happy ending!
Excellent book! Be prepared to read until you’re done. I couldn’t put this book down. It was bad enough that one teenage boy disappeared, but then Chantilly’s son did, too. This storyline is tight and addictive. Chantilly really had to work to figure out who was taking the boys and where they might be. This is a bit of a spoiler, but if you’re like me, child abduction stories are horrifying and not entertaining. Knowing that there’s a good outcome allows me to read an abduction book that I might otherwise pass up. This book is worth the read!
Another wonderful book by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson! When a friend of her son goes missing, Chantilly Adair goes into action to find him. This is a mother’s worst nightmare and hits too close to home. With the help of a ghost and her three fantastic friends, she gets right in the middle of the search, putting herself and her son in danger. Her friends Thema, Del, and Olivia add a delightful touch of humor and her relationship with her ex-boyfriend adds a sweet touch of romance. This book will keep you reading until the very end! Don’t pass this one by!
Ghost From the Grave (Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium #4), my tenth highly enjoyable read from author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. Well-written & enjoyable, I was only familiar with this author from the Lily Sprayberry Realtor mysteries & Holiday Hills Witch series until I was given a copy of this book. This may be the author’s best work to date! I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author, now I have to go get the first 3 books in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Ghost From the Grave is the fourth book in Carolyn Ridder Aspenson Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium series and I am seriously thinking I need to go back and read the first three books I’ve missed. I enjoyed this ghostly mystery, especially the seances with Chantilly’s friends. They sound like some gals I’d like to be friends with! Aspenson kept me guessing as to the culprit in this murder/kidnapping story and I like that in a mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery and with it’s thread of romance in it, it’s a winner in my books! Readers who enjoy a little paranormal with their cozy mystery books will not want to miss this one.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Severn River Publishing and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
Let me begin by stating there are never spoilers in my reviews. If you love a cozy mystery with great characters, that keeps you guessing till the end, and on top of that gives you laugh out loud and even a couple of nail-biting moments, this a must-read for you! Engaging from the beginning will keep you swiping your Kindle and keep you up past your bedtime to finish this because it’s just plain difficult to put down. I can tell you unequivocally that this book does just fine as a standalone, I hadn’t read any of this series prior to this and had no trouble at all jumping right in and keeping up! I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher and am delighted to provide my unbiased review, and have will go back and read the books before this, that’s how good this book was.
Chantilly is a single mom who works for a historical society. She also sees ghosts. One of her son’s fellow Lacrosse players is missing. Who would take Turner and why? While Chantilly is investigating what’s going on she is approached by a ghost. She deduces that the situations are related somehow. This is a good paced cozy clean mystery. Likeable and funny characters that make you smile. A feel good read. Can hardly wait to see what comes next. Received ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
In this story, there is the ghost who doesn’t talk but just points in trying to help solve the mystery. Therefore it’s a little more difficult for Chantilly to solve the mystery of the missing boys. Thelma is quite the character too. How do you shot a rifle with one hand? A very enjoyable read. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.
Don’t mess with a Lioness! I really loved this book. As the series evolves, Chantilly becomes more and more accustomed to her new gift of seeing the spirits of those who have passed on. This time, though, her Lioness comes out in full force as she moves to protect those she loves. Fantastic series and very well written.
I received this book as an ARC and am freely giving my unbiased review.
Ever since Chantilly suffered a head injury, she sees dead people. This time it’s the grounds keeper at her son’s lacrosse field. She wants to help him but she’s not sure what he needs. At the same time her son’s best friend and team mate goes missing and is presumed dead. Is there a connection? Mr Rogers was well respected and honest. Who would want to hurt him? Are the same people the holding Turner? Chantilly is going to find what’s going on. She won’t let anyone hurt her son and his friends. Nobody fools with this momma! I like a strong woman. She knows how to get things done and she won’t give up. I was happy to see Jack Levitt rekindle his romance with her. I was sorry when they broke. They made a great couple. Ghost From The Grave is action packed and filled with unexpected twists. I was glad that this story didn’t dwell over much on the kidnapping. I Chantilly and her friends are easy to care about. A little over the top but good people. This small town provides a great backdrop for this cozy mystery series. Carolyn Ridder Aspenson has an easy writing style that I enjoy. There is mystery, ghosts and romance. What a great combination. I couldn’t ask for more.
It all started with the Lacrosse team and a missing boy. Next came the ghost of Mr. Roger’s who used to take care of the playing fields. He wants Chantilly’s help, but won’t talk to her. There has to be some kind of connection but what could it be? Then things really get ugly fast. What happens you ask? Read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Love this series!!!
GHOST FROM THE GRAVE..Carolyn Asperson
When the dead need her, it is by bits and pieces, and situations prior to their death. Been dating Jack a police detective for almost two years, till he walked.
Her son is in lacrosse when a team member disappears then her son Is missing now. The ghost who is at these lacrosse meets knows something, he just isn’t communicating to her.
A southern paranormal with there sweet tea, a good flowing plot, one likes to visit with them and find out what’s going on in Castleberry. Would Mr Rogers find peace. Will she tell Jack about her visits from ghosts. A delightful story.
Given ARC for my. voluntary review.
In Ghost From the Grave Chantilly and her posse of friends are trying to find the missing lacrosse player. Chantilly and her friends are so vividly portrayed I started talking to them! I stayed up way too late finishing this book because I could not put it down. There is a lot more happening that what meets the eye. This exciting book is well written and well paced. If you like a ghost or two in your cozy mysteries, I highly recommend this series.
Chantilly is one of my fav characters , I love this series , the Historical homes , the character’s whom
she is friends with. in this one he son’s best friend goes missing after practice , Chantilly will have to rely on a ghost who does not talk , to get the clues she needs to find him. Really good story , look forward to more from this author .
A boy from the lacrosse team never makes it home after practice one night, and the town comes together to search for him.
There’s also the ghost of a man at the lacrosse field, who died years earlier, who won’t speak, but is desperately trying to communicate something to Chantilly.
Chantilly feels the two cases are somehow related, even with the years between them, and does some investigating on her own, much to the annoyance of the local police force.
I enjoyed this book. I like all of the characters, they’re an odd, but fun, bunch, and the books in this series are always easy reads, with a mystery solved in each one.
