Dorian Lindstrom, codename Ghost, knows everyone breaks under torture. His five weeks in an enemy prison taught him that with unmerciful precision. He’s put his life back together as best he can with the help from his brothers at Linear Tactical. But he’s never gotten over his love for Grace Brandt, her part in his capture, or the fact that she died. But sometimes the dead don’t stay that way. … sometimes the dead don’t stay that way.
Grace knows her past can’t be forgiven. She’s stayed hidden as long as she could, but now the secrets slowly suffocating her won’t stay buried any longer.
And the man she helped break, the man she’s always loved, is the only one who can stop this nightmare.
She’ll need a Ghost to fight her demons, and he’s more than willing to prove she’s worth the fight.
The Ghost will rise.

I was really looking forward to Ghost’s story. He has always had a special place in my heart. I think that is because I know people who also came back from war broken and it was like routing for all of them too.
I have read some other reviews and people didn’t like Grace, or Ray if you prefer. But I understand her. She has a burning need to keep Dorian safe and in her mind that means, at least initially, going it alone.
I wasn’t at all surprised by the plot in this novel but I did really enjoy the story. Some people might think that the brainwashing was a little far fetched, but, sadly, I don’t think it is outside the realm of possibility. It is remarkably easy to break someone in real life and build them back up the way you want.
Overall, I have really been enjoying this series and I can’t wait to read about Heath aka Shadow.
I highly recommend Ghost. The author has done a superb job of creating characters to love and remember. The story is paced well and there is plenty of romance. I especially like this hero.
Dorian/Ghost survived torture when he was caught in Afghanistan on a mission. He believed that the love of his life, Grace/Wraith died in that mission. Now he leads a quiet life and works for Linear Tactical. After his imprisonment, he’s not back to normal, so he sticks to himself most of the time. When he hears voices and thinks he sees Wraith, he thinks he’s losing it.
To protect the man she loved, Grace let everybody believe she was dead for the last 6 years. But when members of their black ops team started dying, she had to find out who the killer was. Dorian was the only one she trusted to help her. But can he trust her? The info she had changed everything he thought he knew. It also meant both of them were in danger.
This was a fast-paced, dark suspense. Watching them track the killer had me on the edge of my seat hoping they would find the villain before anyone else was killed.
It wasn’t an easy read. The things Grace went through and Dorian’s mental struggles were heart-breaking. This suspenseful military romance will keep you guessing to the end.
After reading this book again, I’ve changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars. I was given an ARC by the author. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Janie Crouch is a master story teller. The book, Ghost, kept me on my toes. Dorian Lindstrom, Ghost, is one of the members of Linear Tactical, a group of special forces who are no longer in the service but have found a way to make use of their specialized skills to help keep their community safe.
Dorian senses the love of his life, Grace, is haunting him. The problem is, he saw her die. What really happened all those years ago In Afghanistan that led to so many deep secrets? Will Ghost be able to accept the secrets and move forward? Will he be able to reconcile the past and the present? This is an amazing book, keeping you guessing until the very end! You will not be disappointed!!
I think this is my least favorite so far in this series. While some parts of it were good, I found some of it to drag and the ending felt erupt. Im still planning on continuing with this series.
Dorian and Ray are broken from their time on Black ops missions, torture and selling their soul to keep someone safe. Ideal couple as they are right for each other in the twisted reality that has formed them. Always good to see the Linear Tactical team making a full appearance and being supportive.
Lots of ‘adventure’ and intrigue.
Ghost by Janie Crouch is the book that I have been waiting for! This book was so good. You know that a book is good when you don’t want to: go to bed, eat, watch tv, talk to your family or anything else that might come along. LOL! Seriously though, Dorian is a mysterious man with a heart of gold and only has eyes for one woman. He thought that she had died so he was all set to live a life all alone. Until he feels her presence and he knows that she is not dead. Grace has been ‘Dead’ for six long years! Where was she and what is she doing here now? Dorian has questions and he is going to make sure she answers them all! Grace is watching him. She goes by Ray now. She doesn’t feel like Grace fits her anymore. She has secrets that she can’t let anyone find out! Everyone Dorian loves is in danger and only Ray knows where the trouble stems from. Can Dorian get Grace back or will she be a fleeting memory.
Janie Crouch is one of my go-tos for edge of your seat romantic suspense and her latest, Ghost is no exception. She starts with a bang and things escalate from there. Crouch earned her spot on my go-to list and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
S
I’ve loved all of these stories. Dorien and Ray’s was hard. I really had some difficulty moving past some of what happens at the beginning. Even knowing why, it was hard. This is a very hard fought HEA and almost feels more like HFN.
I absolutely love this series. To me this book was like a rollercoaster of action and emotion for me. I’m glad Dorian finally got his story told and Ray is great for him. It was hard to put down, it sure is a page turner. It was great that got their forever but it still seemed a little sad, probably because everything they go though.
Every once in a while a book grabs hold so tightly that you just can put it down, Ghost is one of those books. I went into this one with the intention of taking it slow and savoring the story of Ghost and the woman capable of capturing his heart. Instead, I literally devoured it. Dorian piqued my interest from his very first appearance in the Linear Tactical series, and he certainly doesn’t disappoint here. Ghost is, by far, the most emotional book in the series, and there were times that I really didn’t like Grace, but in the end I knew she was exactly what Dorian needed. Even when this pair was making me a little crazy, it was obvious that they were meant for each other. Add in the danger and intrigue that Janie Crouch does so well, and this is one thrilling read from cover to cover. The Linear Tactical series is made up of standalones, and Ghost is no different, but they are all set in the same world and revolve around the wonderful characters that make up this family. Once you’ve met them, you’ll want to know more of their stories. I love that even when there are some loose ends from one book to the next, everything is explained wonderfully to catch the reader up and maintain the standalone stories. For me, this crazy bunch of characters who would do anything for each other have become a little like family, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for them.
4 1/2 STARS!
An electrifying tale of danger and suspense! With the next book in the ever-exciting Linear Tactical series, we get Ghost’s story. He’s been a mystery for the first four books, and we’ve known that his story was going to be a revelation, we just didn’t quite know to expect quite the turn-around that we got! The characters were very easy to connect with, the action and suspense was non-stop and while I wanted the ending to showcase them together a bit more, overall I really loved the story!
Six years ago, Dorian Lindstrom AKA Ghost lived the worst days of his life when he was captured and tortured to within an inch of his life … but the thing that brought him the worst pain was knowing that he couldn’t save the love of his life as she was killed in front of him.
Grace Brandt AKA Wraith has stayed hidden long enough. The secrets that she carries from her past are never going to let her rest if she doesn’t find a way to put an end to the crimes that are still being committed surrounding the project they worked on. She knows she can’t do it by herself … the only person she can count on is the man she’s always loved.
A very twisted path for the latest tale
Ray, former black ops agent and woman six years dead, makes a surprise resurrection when she seeks out Dorian, former black ops agent and survival expert, to help solve the mystery of who is killing the members from their old black ops team. As the story progresses secrets are kept, things get murky, and danger is closer than they think. Janie Crouch has provided a very twisted path for the latest Linear Tactical guy. She also included some very dark, yet realistic, after effects that some veterans deal with.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Wow, Janie Crouch gives us another fantastic installment in the Linear Tactical series! This time, it’s Dorian, aka Ghost, that we learn more about. He has been in the background in the previous stories because that is where he has liked to be. He has been though being a captive in Afghanistan and tortured. He has trouble being with people and often retreats to the woods to refocus and recover. He also has mourned the death of Grace, aka Wraith, the woman he loved. But Grace didn’t die that day in Afghanistan when Dorian was captured. Grace is just as damaged as Dorian and has secrets that could tear them apart just as they are trying to pick up the pieces.
I really liked Grace or Ray as she preferred to be called. She is just the person Dorian needs to help him heal as she understands and she needs him to help her heal. I enjoyed reading their story and was rooting for them at each turn. They struggled and I cheered what they accomplished. As the series goes on, I look forward to see how they heal, recover and grow stronger. I am also looking forward to reading Shadow’s story. This is an amazing series and I highly recommend!!!
I received an advanced copy for my honest review.
4+* ARC Review – Another great story, with a military intrigue angle
I received the ARC of Ghost from the author directly in exchange for my review. I am a big fan of this author and the Linear Tactical series. The thing I enjoyed most about Ghost is that it had more of a focus on their prior military experience and took the reader into that world a bit. This is Dorian’s story, and although we were introduced to him in prior books, he was always the character in the background. His skills as a tracker and ability to be a “Ghost”, has been an asset when his former teammates needed him.
In the prior book, it was hinted that Grace, Dorian’s former lover/teammate, was actually alive. He had thought she was killed six years ago when he had been captured by a terrorist cell. From the beginning of the story, we see that Grace has been brought back into Dorian’s life but mainly to save him from their shared past. This part of the story had so much intrigue and suspense to it that I felt it was very different from the prior books, but I really enjoyed it.
I don’t want to give too much away, but it was a great and clever story that brought in a very interesting military black operations direction to the story. I am anxious to see where the author takes the series going forward. Although each book could be read as a standalone, I personally like reading them in order and as a series. This author has a talent for carrying bits of the stories from one book to the other while having them take place in the same time. I appreciate that she does not just complete one relationship and move on to the next, but has activities happening during several books.
Holy smokes!! Grab a seat, strap in and hold on while this author takes you a ride that you don’t want to get off of. I’ve been waiting patiently…OK maybe not patiently…for Dorian aka Ghost and his story…and what a story…HOLY SMOKES !!!
We finally get Ghost’s story, the reclusive man who spends most of his time in the forest, away from civilization because of an incident years ago when he was held as a prisoner and tortured. He was part of an elite group, made up of special soldiers who were trained until their skills were perfected. During this time he met Grace aka Wraith and the two of them became more, so when he’s captured it’s because he sees Grace, the love of his life, die in an explosion…or did she.
Grace has been haunted by what happened to Dorian and rises from the ashes when she thinks he is either involved or in danger when someone starts picking off the elite soldiers and anyone associated with the group they all belonged to. Now she goes by Ray and when Dorian finally proves that his Grace is not really a Ghost…all heck breaks lose as the two work for and against each other to bring the killings to an end.
I’ll say it once again…HOLY SMOKES…BUCKLE UP…WHAT A RIDE. From the first pages I couldn’t put it down, devouring the book in one setting and wanting more more more with these two. Both were kick but, strong and irresistible as the action, suspense, twists and turns fly off the pages. Not only that but the connection between them, the sparks, the steam…my my my my….and their love that was so strong, had to grab a tissue near the end with the bar scene and how Grace fights with all her might for Dorian. Can’t cant can’t wait for the next one !!!!
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Love it!!!I loved Ghost from the beginning and I had waited to read this book so long.Story were well told and I felt adrenaline pumping page after page.Grace (Ray) aka Wraith and Dorian aka Ghost worked together but they always have been more than just partners. Dorian thought Ray was dead but she has been hiding from Crypt.I specially enjoyed their sparring scenes and how they try to figure out who is murderer. They both have their secrets, specially Ray and they try to figure things out but is it too late? This serie is my favorite and cannot wait to read more Janie’s books.
Wow, just WOW. Overwhelmed. Best ever. Breathtakingly good. Speechless.
Dorian has always been such an intensely mysterious member of Linear Tactical. I am so glad his story is finally here and it is everything he deserves. This story is a raw, edge of your seat, nail biting suspense with a selfless love that would inspire even the most jaded of hearts. This is heart wrenching heroism and devastating devotion at its best. I voluntarily reviewed an arc.
I loved, loved Ray aka Grace! She was serious badass!
There’s a surprising twist to the end of the story! See if you can figure it out before it’s revealed. I sure did!
