This is a re-read, but it’d been long enough that I’d forgotten most of the plot.
I love this book so much, I had to share anyway. It’s the perfect balance of humor, romance, and suspense. And I’ll read it again. Maybe tomorrow.
I’d read this one a long time ago and somehow, like a dummy, forgot to keep looking for Cruise’s books. I clearly recall the first one that hooked me, starting off with the female protag having a horrible day and pulling brownies out of the frig and eating them frozen. I was so hooked.
Her characters are quirky yet so familiar, so vulnerable and human. In Getting Rid of Bradley, there’s mystery, steamy attraction, twists and turns, and LOLs on every page. I’m so glad I’ve found some of her recent works. Do yourself a favor on the next gloomy day, or heck, anytime, and select one of hers. She also writes with Bob Mayer, which are still good reads, but I like it best when it’s just Jenny. FYI, twenty years ago, I attend one of her book signing events (back when writers did them) and she looked like the educator she is, calm, poised, and so kind and patient with questions from beginning writers. I would follow her anywhere just for that.
I’ve been re-listening to Jennifer Crusie’s audiobooks, and I love this one. It’s funny, and the characters are different in a great way. They are unpredicatable but relatable. And the storyline is funny and suspenseful. I especially like that there is always a pet (or three!) in a Crusie book.
This isn’t the only book Crusie has written using the theme obsessive love. I think one of the others was Crazy for You. She handles such a serious subject with both truth and humor, mixing it with a nice little mystery. I loved the heroine of this one. I especially enjoyed her beating up the cop with her purse because she thought he was a mugger.

Been years since I read this story and I still loved it the second time around!!
One of my favorite romances of all time. So fun, entertaining and unexpected.
Almost always writes a fun book.
Jennifer Crusie never fails to write a book that I can’t wait to read!
4.5-5 STARS!!
Next to Jennifer Crusie’s, Bet Me, this is one of my favorite of her books. Granted, I haven’t yet read them all, but have enjoyed every single one that I have read. The humor in this rom-com was delicious. I had a silly grin watching the romance unfold as did the various shades of color in Lucy’s hair. The suspense was a fun surprise and kept the pages turning. This will definitely go into my read again pile.
