A magnificent new romance by New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase.Dean Walker is all about keeping life simple. He’s effortlessly talented and intelligent—spending his summers playing drums in the local band and the rest of the year teaching high school in the same Jersey town where he grew up. He likes his love life simple too, enjoying the commitment-free hook-ups his good looks and … hook-ups his good looks and sexy charm have always made oh so easy.
Then he meets Lainey Burrows. And his simple, easy life gets turned upside down.
One wild one-night stand was all it was ever supposed to be, so Lainey is shocked when she discovers that her sizzling summer fling is also her son’s new math teacher. But that’s nothing compared to the most unexpected twist of all—their hot hook-up left Lainey knocked up, and now they’re about to become parents. Together.
What ensues is an addictive, insatiable, sweet and tender romance that won’t be simple, but it will be more than worth the fight.

This was another fantastic book from Emma Chase and I loved every minute of it! Dean and Lainey had an instant connection when they first met that came across like they were old friends; sometimes it’s just like that. Their night of sexy times was plenty hot, although there was an unintended gift left behind. Of course kismet dictates that Lainey and Dean would encounter each other again, although in the last place either one suspected would happen.
Despite his serial playboy, love ’em and leave ’em mentality, Dean is actually a really sweet guy who will do anything for his loved ones, and regardless of his uncertainity about stepping into the role of being a father, his interactions with Lainey’s son shows just how well he’s suited to be a dad. Even his interactions with his students highlight his parental behavior.
I was surprised by who was ready to take the relationship further and who was hesitant, and of course there’s always that moment in which the relationship is teetering on the brink of disaster, although I wasn’t expecting that kind of reaction from one of the main characters (but who wouldn’t understand their reaction?)
Overall, I loved this book, Lainey and Dean make a great couple and I’m hoping we’ll get some more books that feature the Daniels brothers.
I really enjoyed Getting Schooled, so I couldn’t wait to finally get my hands on Getting Played. There were a few tropes in this one that I didn’t mind reading at all like one-night stand, surprised pregnancy and a little bit of a fake relationship.
I really thought this was a cute read. Not going to lie, I’m getting a little tired of reading about the hero that’s a bit of a player. But don’t worry, you don’t see any of that happening in this one. Lainey turned out to be his game changer.
Absolutely loved how their relationship came together almost effortlessly. They had quite the connection during their one-night stand and clearly couldn’t get one another off their minds. I was just eager for them to finally get together.
Getting Played had the right amount of everything, swoony moments, plenty of laughs, the STEAMMMMMMMINESS and a pinch of emotion. Quite the read that many will enjoy.

One wild one-night stand was all it was supposed to be…
OMG YESSSS!! It’s sexy and witty and everything I wanted it to be! I love Emma Chase and Getting Played is one of the many books – I mean reasons – why!
Happy reading – you’re going to love it!
I adored this book from cover to cover! the story was just right and the characters were amazing! Emma chase as turned into my go to author when I want sexy times, but funny times also!
„I’ve wanted to see you again since the minute you walked out the door.”
Emma Chase is a master when it comes to creating totally swoon-worthy, funny and steamy romance! Getting Played is amazing! I loved everything about this story- from the moment Dean and Lainey met, up to the heart-warming epilogue. Filled with many funny moments and deliciously hot scenes, this book is both entertaining and super sexy.
Dean is a math teacher, ocassional drummer and a complete playboy. He’s definitely not a one-woman man, but one night with Lainey wasn’t enough. Too bad he didn’t ask for her number… But fate decided to give them another chance. It turns out that Dean is the new teacher of Lainey’s son aaaaand… the father of a child they conceived during their memorable one-night stand. Can Dean learn how to be a boyfriend and more important, a dad? And what about Lainey? Can she put her trust in a man, when she’s used to relying on herself?
I just love the transformation from a ladies man to monogamous guy and Dean passed this change with flying colors! He’s so charming and easy-going. I loved how he was with his students, with Lainey’s son and Lainey herself. It appears that he just needed a right woman to become a perfect man. Lainey as a single parent was admirable! Not only she managed to take care of herself and her child, but also created a bond with him that is simply wonderful. The chemistry between Lainey and Dean was off the charts! Seriously, I’m blushing like a schoolgirl, when I think about these two! They both had some new things to get accustomed to, but it was clear from their first meeting that they’re a match made in heaven. I loved to see how their relationship developed!
Getting Played is a light, steamy and funny read that will warm your heart. Emma Chase created another book that’s simply amazing. Highly recommend!
My expectations for Getting Played were astronomically high given that I absolutely adored the Getting Some series starter, Getting Schooled. But just like its predecessor, this second book was wonderful as both an audiobook (which I had the pleasure of listening to when it was released in June and perfectly narrated by the duo of Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber) and now as an eBook. Lainey and Dean went from one-time–yet unforgettable–hook-up to getting knocked up, tying them together. There were laughs and le sighs, but there were also a few tears on my end, but this has been par for the course when I read Emma Chase’s books. I loved the direction that Lainey and Dean’s story took and how, even with a connection as strong as they had from the beginning, these two had to develop their trust in one another and allow their relationship to evolve from lovers to friends to far more than either expected. This was, hands down, one of my favorite reads for 2019 and I’ve got my fingers crossed we haven’t seen the last of the Getting Some series. Five-plus stars go to Getting Played.
5 ‘Life is full of surprises’ Stars!

I am in looooove with this series! Emma Chase keeps killing it with these sexy small town stories and she definitely did not disappoint with Getting Played. This book is just as good as the first one in the series but still unique in its own way. I mean, a hot math’s professor / drummer falling for a single mom / lifestyle blogger? I was all over it from the very first page to the very last one. I literally devoured this novel in just a few hours!
Getting Played is the second installment of Emma’s Getting Some series and it’s a surprise pregnancy romance you cannot miss! Dean Walker and Lainey Burrows meet in one of Dean’s concerts and they share a wild one-night stand full of sizzling chemistry. But things get interesting when Lainey and her teenage son move to Lakeside and she finds out she is actually pregnant with Dean’s baby. Has this commitment-free playboy finally met his soul mate?
The best things in life always come along when we’re not looking for them.
Emma Chase is an incredible writer, her rom coms are to die for and Getting Played was no exception. Dean and Lainey are just fantastic together, I loved the slow development of their relationship and their feelings (after the one-night stand), and I adored Jay, the baby, Grams, Lainey’s family, just all the secondary characters that appeared in this novel. I loved the small town feel and the interactions in the school between Dean and his students.
Dean Walker’s voice should be labeled a weapon of mass seduction.
Of course, the best part of this book is Dean himself and his relationship with Lainey, her son and the baby. These couple is so sweet and so sexy. Their chemistry was off-the-charts HAWT and it got even better when they started falling for each other without even realizing it. Just as Garrett (the hero in Getting Schooled), Dean is swoony, honest, and oh-so-sexy, Lainey is just as an amazing heroine and the kids are just adorable. That together: beautiful, scorching hot and emotional!
I want to be her everything. Because somewhere along the line—Lainey, Jason, our baby—that’s what they’ve become to me. Everything.
Therefore, my rating for Getting Played is 5 STARS because, again, Emma did a wonderful job with this rom com. I loved being back in Lakeside, I loved Dean and Lainey together and how their love story developed together with the children. Obviously, I enjoyed their burning chemistry and all those feels too! I hope Emma writes more about this crew because I am definitely excited about it. Highly recommend this one!
4.25 stars. Aww, this was a super sweet read. I really enjoyed this book. Getting Played is Dean and Lainey’s story. Lainey is a single mom to a teenage son. She is a lifestyle vlogger and doesn’t have a wild life, but a happy, simple one. One night, she is out at a bar with live music when she meets a member of the traveling band, Dean. They have amazing chemistry and have a hot one night stand, which is not Lainey’s norm. Neither expect to see each other again and they do not exchange information, instead Lainey expects to look back on the night with fond memories. But life has other plans for them. Lainey finds out she is pregnant, but has no way to contact Dean. She follows through with her plans to move to a new town with her son and renovate an old house for a online show. Her exceptional son is in the super smart track at school and adores his new math teacher. Imagine Lainey’s surprise when she meets the teacher and finds out he is Dean, the father of her unborn baby. Dean is shocked, but soon decides he is all-in for his child. Lainey and Dean must figure out how to make their situation work and they fall for each other along the way.
I loved this whole book. I really liked both Dean and Lainey. Dean is part cool, laid back musician who never plans on getting married, has casual hookup buddies and travels with his band every summer, and part very smart, caring, dedicated high school teacher who loves his students. He is willing to take his responsibilities seriously when he finds himself a future father and wants to explore being in a relationship with Lainey, for the first time in years. Lainey is the type person who makes the best of every situation. She has no expectations of Dean and has been a single mom for years so is willing to do it again. But she is willing to give Dean a chance when he tells her he wants one. Also, she is creative, sweet and a good mom. I really liked both of their characters and felt like they were a great match. They had a fun, sexy, mature, and sweet relationship. The two of them had great chemistry, good depth of character and their thoughts and emotions felt very real. If I have one complaint, it was how often Dean’s past hookup buddies showed up all over town and caused a little drama. That is not my fave to read about. But it did not hamper my enjoyment of the book. I love a good surprise pregnancy and this was a great one. Also, I really liked the end of the book a lot. It made me cry.
Overall, this was just a great book. Dean and Lainey were sweet and awesome. Their love story was entertaining and fun, sexy and sweet. So far, this series has been great- two for two winners. I look forward to what Ms. Chase comes up with next!
I really have a crush on Dean. Seriously, from player to reformed “man whore”, there’s only one thin line, and damn if crossing it wasn’t worth it.
The moment Lainey and Dean met, sparks flew all over the place, they fell hard and crushed harder. What seemed to be a one time thing became something more. An unexpected pregnancy and second chance trope I adored to read.
The characters were just effortless to love, the story all the things and terribly sexy and so swoony. Lainey as a single mom was just a badass, sweet and caring woman. Her duet with her son was so adorable and endearing.
Dean was my favorite guy. Nothing expected, especially with a reputation that precedes it. What I adored the most? A man who knew what he wanted and even if it was just so sudden, he was willing to make it work, to prove Lainey was he was more than this guy, the womanizer and wild.
I could go on about this book and even if they did things differently and mostly a bit backwards, their relationship was well built, not within a bit of craziness in between but it was just so damn good. Spontaneous with a sparkling wit, a dynamic and chemistry off the charts!
The connection between the characters was amazing. The interaction between Lainey and Dean was magical, between Lainey and her son and also Dean and her son as well. It created a wonderful story, heartwarming and charming. I was hooked from the beginning.
This series is just a favorite of mine; making me smile so hard and swoon tons with a strong hint of smoking hot. Next book, please!
Getting Played begins with Lainey Burrows out one night with her sister and brother-in-law at a bar having drinks and listening to some music. It doesn’t take Lainey, or anyone else, long to notice the hot drummer who keeps staring her way. Once the set is over, said drummer makes his way over to where Lainey is sitting and they strike up a conversation. When it starts to get late, Lainey’s family members leave the bar and encourage her to have a good time.
After Lainey and Dean, the hot drummer, have a few more drinks, they decide to head back to where he is staying while the band had been playing in the area. Lainey is a little hesitant at first, but then decides that a one-night stand might do her some good. She’ll have some fun and head back home to her life as a lifestyle vlogger and single mom and move herself and her son to the house she will be decorating and vlogging about in a new town.
What neither Lainey, nor Dean, plan on is the off the charts attraction they feel for each other. When their passionate night is over, Lainey tries to sneak out, but Dean rouses and they tell each other goodbye. Once Dean wakes later, he is so mad at himself for not getting her number, or hell, even her last name. Little do either of them know how life changing that one will be for both of them…….
Getting Played is a wonderfully written story. The characters are masterfully written. Lainey has made a life for herself and her son and has a wonderful outlook on life. She makes friends easily and is a help to anyone and everyone who needs it. Dean is an easygoing guy, smart and good looking. His circle of friends in his hometown are amazing. He does have a bit of a womanizing past, but his Grams knows that he just hasn’t met the right one. He is a teacher at the local high school and an assistant football coach. The secondary characters are well written and I can’t wait to read more about them. This is the first I’ve read by Emma Chase, but will not be the last. You are pulled into the story from the very first word. If you like contemporary romance with palpable chemistry and a scorching romance, you’ll not go wrong with this one. Well done, Emma Chase!! Very, very well done!
Getting Played is the second book in the Getting Some series by the fabulous and talented Emma Chase. It releases in audio first and I had to pleasure of listening to it before it releases! I absolutely loved Getting Schooled and I have been looking forward to Dean’s story since I finished listening to Garrett’s. Oh my, Dean. The sexy, drummer who sings in a band during the summer and the smart, sexy, nerdy, glasses wearing high school teacher and football coach for the rest of the year. My heart and body could barely take it! I loved being back in New Jersey with these characters who feel like long lost family. Dean meets a woman during one of his shows. She’s gorgeous, sexy, and fun. They spend an amazing night together and then she’s gone. Only to show up in his hometown as the mom of one of his new students. What are the odds. Dean is not a relationship guy. Not even close. Every woman, man and child in town knows his reputation and they don’t all have nice things to say about him. Lainey never thought she’d see Dean again and now he’s her son’s teacher. And he looks even better than he did last time she saw him. That night, Dean left her with a souvenir and she’s been trying to find him. Now that she sees him again, she lets him know she’s pregnant. She’s had time to get used to the idea and she’s so great about letting Dean have time. He has no idea what to do. He’s not sure he’ll be a good father. Never saw himself even having kids. And he’s not the dating type. Then he realizes that he wants Lainey and their child in his life. He wants to try. He’s never wanted to try before. He’s never felt this way about a woman and now he has a baby on the way. And he already cares deeply for her son Jason. Can Dean prove to himself and the town that he’s not the player they all think he is? Will Lainey trust in Dean and his feelings for her and her son? Oh man, do I love me some Dean! But I also love Lainey! She’s independent, smart and isn’t afraid to have another child even if it’s by herself. She’s done it before, she’ll do it again. She’s mature, level headed and talented. Together, Dean and Lainey have great chemistry! Their banter is sexy and fun. Overall, I loved every minute of it!
Emma Chase has finally brought her readers back to Lakeside, NJ for another small town/ adult high school adventure. This time around it’s the assistant coach, AP Math teacher, and drummer rock god, Dean Walker is on the playlist.
Lainey Burrows, single mother and popular blogger is out celebrating her success when she meets the sexy drummer from the band Amber Sound. Being a single mother and sole provider doesn’t leave much time for dating or sex. A one night stand is just what she needs to make her celebration complete. He’s not from this area and she’s moving within weeks. She will never have to see him again. Her wild night can be her secret.
Lainey has signed on for a one year blogging show on FB. She will be re-furbishing and redecorating an old lake house in Lakeside, NJ. The small town area is perfect for her do-it-yourself projects and lifestyle tips. It’s also an opportunity for her brilliant nerdy teenage son to have a new start and maybe make new friends. He has spent his life with his nose buried in books and focused on school. She’s hoping he’ll find friends and a social life in this new place. Moving day is perfect until she realizes she’s pregnant. Suddenly she’s got a new life project in her new adventure.
Her son is adjusting well to Lakeside. He loves his AP Math teacher, the mathletes club, and his new friends. When she goes for her first parent teacher conference she’s in for a big surprise. Her sexy drummer boy / baby daddy is none other than Coach Walker, mathematical genius and town player.
Dean was the known player in Lakeside and now it’s his turn to fall. Between the Dork-Squad, the Gray Army, Lucy- the delightful kitty, a “haunted” lake house, ex girlfriends & hookups, and four snarky sisters… Dean just might make the cut. He has to prove he’s finally ready for the new game known as fatherhood. Ohhh… the mighty fall hard… and we readers get to experience this sexy genius drummer/ teacher become a clueless fool when faced with love. But when the mighty fall it is perfection on every level.
The one thing a reader can expect when opening an Emma Chase novel is pure, delightful, fun, light-hearted entertainment. Falling head over heels in love with these lovable clueless characters and experiencing a beautiful love story is reading perfection.
I absolutely loved Getting Played by Emma Chase.
Fantastic read! Such a sweet and sexy read! Dean is hot, hot, HOT!! And Lainey is sweet, strong and such a great heroine!! Highly recommend!!Emma Chase Getting Played (Getting Some Book 2)
Getting Played is the second book in the Getting Some series by Emma Chase. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading Getting Schooled since it was so good! And that’s where we first met Dean, the sexy drummer by Summer and hot Math Teacher and Coach by September. The synopsis kicks ass so I will make this fast.
Dean saw her from across the bar while he was drumming. Lainey couldn’t take her eyes off him. One night of talking about everything and anything also turned into a night of passion. And in the morning…she walks away. No numbers. No last names. What she does walk away with is a piece of him. Except she didn’t know that until eight weeks later…
Lainey didn’t think she would see him again. She looked for him and nothing. That was until she saw him in her son’s classroom. At parent conferences. She was shocked and excited all at the same time. And that’s when he noticed the bump. Dean wasn’t a relationship kind of guy. He also wasn’t a manwhore. Anymore. Especially after his summer hookup. He thought he was broken until he saw her again. He wanted her then and he wanted her even more now. But, what about his simple life? The life he had before her. Was he ready to be a dad? A co-parent? Got forbid, a boyfriend?
That’s it. I will say that I was addicted from the start. I love these two! He is so nerdy hot with his black-rimmed glasses and his drummer charm. And Lainey is amazing with her creativity and beauty. I can’t forget about Jason. He is one kickass fourteen year old. Together, the banter is fun, flirty, and sweet with a side of dirty. I also loved the relationship with Jason. He is such a good kid and an easy one to talk to.
Overall…it was even more than I thought it would be! I can’t wait for the next book.
Quotes:
It’s all surprising—every moment. Life can be a bitch . . . but she’s never boring.
Those glasses—holy hell—goodbye wild-boy drummer, hello sexy professor. The fantasies are instant and numerous. I want to lick every inch of him while he’s wearing those glasses.
“Don’t be nervous, Lainey. I’ve got you.”

Getting Played was an totally enjoyable read by Emma Chase. This was an easy read that would be perfect for a relaxing Sunday afternoon or if your at the beach. It is a fun, sexy and low drama story that you can just escape for awhile with these characters.
I haven’t read that many books by Emma, but when I pick up a book by her, I expect it to be sexy, sweet, swoony and leave me with a smile on my face, and that is exactly what we get with Getting Played.
Getting Played is the second book in Emma’s Getting Some series. It is a complete standalone novel with reoccurring characters. You don’t have to read Getting Schooled to enjoy this book. I would how ever recommend it because that is where you meet Dean for the first time and you get a complete feel for his character. This story is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow and pace of the story worked well. I loved being back in the small town we were first introduced to in Getting Schooled.
In this book we follow Dean and Lainey’s story. Dean is the best friend and fellow colleague of Garrett (H in Getting Schooled). He teaches at the local high school but is also a drummer in Amber Sound during the summer. He is the town playboy. So when he meets Lainey, who is out with her sister, one night in the summer, he is knocked off his rocker. Both going into this as a one night stand, they soon realize it is so much more. Can Lainey tame the town playboy?? What happens when a surprise rocks their boat?? Will they get their HEA??
I enjoyed meeting Lainey’s family. I also liked seeing Garrett and Callie again. I loved their story so much, I was glad to see where they have come since the end of their book.
If you are a fan of Emma’s books, then you don’t want to miss this book. I think this series of books is perfect for all romance readers!! Add this to your TBR list, you won’t be sorry.

Getting Played is a wonderful story about Lainey Burrows, a single mom with a lifestyle blog. She discovers a fun cover band with a beautiful drummer, Dean Walker, as she is out for drinks with her sister and sister’s boyfriend.
The two meet and get to know each other after the band’s set and what starts as conversation, becomes a night of unending HOT sex that goes on and on until they empty an entire box of condoms. In the morning the two-part ways without exchanging numbers. The summer goes by without either of them finding each other again.
In the fall, Laney gets an opportunity through Facebook to live in an old house a couple of towns over from her current home. She’s tasked with redecorating it for her blog in return for free rent for a year. Not a moment after she moves in does she discover she’s pregnant. The rest of the story is how she reconnects with that beautiful, cover band drummer who turns out to be “Coach” Walker the math teacher and coach for the football team of the new high school her 14-year-old son now attends.
This story is heartwarming and sweet. I loved the relationship between Laney, and her family (who are very supportive) and the back and forth between her with Dean. They navigate some interesting moments while preparing for the unexpected blessing (the product of their carnal impulsiveness). I loved how this story shows that we cannot make it on our own. Despite our desire to pioneer through the tough stuff, we need each other. Allowing others to care and help is as much a gift to the person serving as it is to the person being served.
I recommend it – Four stars! Getting played releases on Kindle Unlimited today.

Swoooooooon …. that’s all I got!!!
I mean who doesn’t love a player who turns his life around for THE ONE!! This book was funny, sexy, steamy and full of swoon moments that will melt your heart.
From the very first sentence I was hooked and before I knew what was happening it two 2am and I finished the book. Dean and Laney were perfect for each other. I loved the pacing of the story and I loved that they were mature adults who worked their problems out.
I kinda feel bad that I can only give this 5* because it should get ALL of them.

I first listened to Getting Played by Emma Chase when it was release as an Audible First audio and I loved it! I absolutely loved it! In Getting Played we get Dean Walker’s story, who we met as Garrett’s best friend in Getting Schooled. Though each book can be read as a standalone, both are definitely must-reads and/or listen and I highly recommend both of them.
Dean is not necessarily a playboy, but he enjoys the freedom of being single. In the summers he is a drummer in a travelling band and the rest of the year he is a teacher and coach. He liked his life like it was. He was happy. Then one night he meets Lainey and he is not prepared for what they experience together. But when they go their separate ways, they never expect to see each other again. Imagine their surprise when they not only see each other again but realize their one-night had an everlasting result.
I loved Dean and Lainey together. Dean did not see her coming, but once he found her, everything changed. Dean was sweet, charming and determined to be the man he knew he could be. Lainey was strong, determined and smart. She raised her son on her own and they were okay. She would be okay again, but having Dean step up was good for her too. Can the eternal bachelor and the life blogger find their happily-ever-after?
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Wow!!!! I basically devoured this story in one day. This 6 star story had me hooked from the blurb. I knew it was going to be AWSOME and it was and then some.
Lainey spends a night with a drummer, Dean. They both never forgot that night. Neither thought they would ever see each other again. Life as other plans for them. Can Lainey tame the bachelor?
Once I started this amazing story, I couldn’t put it down for very long. It was an addicting and captivating story. I loved these perfectly created and developed characters that made me fall in love with them. Lainey and Dean had some great chemistry going on. An amazing storyline that was sweet and hot at the same time. Bottomline this is a must read.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
