A sexy opposites attract, single parent romance!New Orleans firefighter, James Reynaud’s true love is hanging out in the jazz clubs on Frenchmen Street and playing piano with some of the best musicians in the city. But driving his cute, bookworm neighbor Harper Broussard crazy is right up there on his list of favorite things. The buttoned-up linguistics professor across the hall is a little older, … buttoned-up linguistics professor across the hall is a little older, a lot smarter, and way too good for him. And she knows it. But wow is she beautiful when she blushes.
She’s equally gorgeous when she’s saving his butt. Because now things just got serious. A baby has been, literally, dropped off on his doorstep and to say he’s in over his head is an understatement. Not that Harper knows anything about babies either. But at least they now have something in common.

I LOVE James and Harper. They are two complete opposites and it works for them!
James is the sexy, funny, charming musician/firefighter from next door. He hasn’t ever had a problem getting women to throw themselves at his feet. But he changes his ways after the stunningly, beautiful Harper moves in next door.
Harper is the linguistics professor who tries her hardest to not react like most women do and refrain from throwing herself at him. He makes it difficult when he leaves his window open when he’s playing the piano or how he is constantly showing up at her door to ask questions about the newest item someone has left in his care. She can’t help but get involved especially when it involves an adorable dog!
But when a baby shows up on his doorstep with just a note, now that’s another story. Now he has a baby? Right when she finally decided to give into the urge and go for it with him? Who wouldn’t take a step back to think about it for a bit? A baby was not in the plans for either of them but watching them work together and fall in love is the best possible outcome! This book has humor but it will also pull at your heartstrings in the best way possible!
I won an ARC of Getting Off Easy so I was excited to read this new to me author. James and Harper were HOT and their interactions made me smile!!! I couldn’t wait for them to get together. Add in a baby left on the doorstep and it added heartwarming dimension to the story. I was intrigued by the mystery of the baby and it was fun trying to figure out who left him on the doorstep. This was a fun and easy read that was surprisingly emotional at the end. I think I need to go back and read the rest of the books in the series!!
How could Harper not fall in love with James??? He was so endearing and sexy and smart. The professor didn’t stand a chance. And when she opened the door and he was holding a sweet baby, her ovaries melted.
Erin Nicholas gives her own sexy spin to the Professor and Firefighter adding a doorstep baby to the mix. They became unwitting parents who ended up wrapped around the baby’s finger…and each other.
The Boys of the Big Easy series wraps up nicely with this final story in the series. You get to see some of your old favorites from earlier in the series…laughing at James and giving him advice. Such a fun story!
I can’t wait to read what comes next from Ms. Nicholas!
James is a firefighter in New Orleans, a city that he loves being a part of. James is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. When the professor moves in, across the hall, James is immediately smitten. She’s nothing like any of the other ladies James has been with but maybe that’s part of her allure. He sets out to get to know her in some amusing ways.
Harper is a quiet woman. She’s very organized and never met a schedule she didn’t like. She’s a language professor at Loyola and loves words. When she meets her neighbor, James, he’s nothing like anyone she’d ever be involved with. But there’s something…
When James comes home from work to find a basket left in front of his door, he immediately knocks on Harper’s door, just as he has several other times to ask for her help. But what’s in the basket is no olive tree, bearded dragon or puppy. Can the two of them team up to deal with what’s in the basket?
This book is filled with twists and turns and plenty of feels. I loved it!
Getting off Easy was such a fun story! I have read all of the Boys of the Big Easy books and it is impossible to pick a favorite but if I did, this would be it! James is a laid back local boy that loves his job as a firefighter and loves the ladies. Harper is his smart and sexy neighbor. She’s a professor and she intrigues the heck out of him! James keeps getting things dropped into his lap and Harper keeps helping him out until a really big surprise lands on his doorstep! As Harper and James work together to find the mother of the baby in the basket they get to really know each other and what they really feel. Getting Off Easy is a fun, enjoyable, contemporary rom com that will give you all the feels! James and Harper were great characters and I loved reading about them working together and finally getting the relationship that they both deserve. As I said the story stands alone but the other Boys of the Big Easy books were so good that I recommend reading those as well. As with all the other books it is written from dual POV and now I feel the need to grab a cafe au lait and a beignet!
Introverted professor Harper Broussard had no idea how much her quiet life was going to change when her neighbor, James Reynaud, knocked on her door. Multiple times. Needing help that only Harper can give.
James is a sweet talking, easy-going firefighter; easy to laugh, easy on the eyes and very hard for Harper to resist! Their opposite personalities smolder with a slow burn that James keeps feeding with everything from a ficus tree to…a baby!
This couple! I’m not sure how Erin Nicholas does it, but every new couple she writes becomes my new favorite. Firefighters are definitely my weakness, but when he’s an accomplished musician with a sexy grin, and is holding a baby, I’m a goner! This series gets better and better. Hopefully this isn’t the end, but even if it is, I’ll be revisiting the Big Easy and these characters for years to come!
Totally loved this book. I liked how the story started and then took us back to the months prior to James and Harper and their ‘relationship’ and the day that would change things for both of them, in many different ways. I’ve always enjoyed Harper when we’ve heard about her but when we get more Harper and James – yes, please. No matter the slight age gap between these two, these are two people who should definitely be together. I liked how James was right in the situation from the beginning and Harper was a little hesitant, but got on board quickly. I wasn’t expecting the outcome to be what it was in relation to Isaac and Sophie, but in the end it worked out perfectly for all of them. My favorite line from this story was, ‘as long as there’s love and support, it really doesn’t matter how the people in the family come together or if they share blood’. Thank you, Erin Nicholas for another great book!
Getting Off Easy was such an awesome read!
It has a sexy, “go with the flow” firefighter and a professor who loves organization. What’s not to love.
James and Harper are a great team. I love that they grew together and that they both took care of others just in different ways. Seeing more of the past characters was great. Loved this series!
Brace yourself. You will 100% be losing your heart to James and Harper. I don’t think I’ve ever read a story that was filled with so much sweetness! There were so many moments that were overflowing with so much love it felt like my heart was going to burst from happiness while I was reading.
James and Harper might appear to be the text book definition of opposites but their hearts are two perfectly matched puzzle pieces. These two are so selfless and giving in so many different ways I can’t even begin to explain it. Their build up from neighbors to friends and finally so much more is loaded with humor, swoony romance and heat in a way that is entirely captivating.
I was really looking forward to reading this book and I was glad I read it. I really like this authors writing style. This book is the 4th in the series of Boys of the Big Easy.
This book is a quick read and I absolutely loved James and Harper’s story and seeing where it was going to take them.
James is a fire fighter, he’s a very talented man and he’s also a cheeky chappie, flirty guy, who always does what’s right.
People would leave things on his doorstep for him to care for.
He’ll help out absolutely anyone weather that is taking care of an Olive tree or helping a kid from the local school with a lizard,or even being an agony aunt from crying women.
James could have any woman he wants anytime he wanted, if he wanted he was used to women basically throwing themselves at him, so with Harper he was quite shocked she didn’t.
Harper is his neighbour from across the hall. She’s very professional and is a professor in linguistics, she teaches and love’s her work.
She helps out James when he needs it but always makes him work for her help
Harper starts to develop feeling for James and she hated that she had no control over her feelings for James but they were meant for each other. At first I thought. Is James to good to be true?
There is definitely sexual chemistry between them both.
James can be quite flirty and she is trying hard not to notice the little things about about him, and is looking for excuses not to find him attractive but there is chemistry between them.
James is very protective, he’s funny at times and very sexy and I love this about him.
I absolutely loved reading this book. I read it in one sitting as I as I couldn’t put it down and stayed up late to read. I will definitely be recommending this book when it is released.
Thank You to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

A MUST READ STORY!!
Wow what a great book. This story deserves more than 5 stars, Erin has really outdone herself with this one. Hot firefighter, jazz musician all around great guy, James Reynaud is all that and more. He has his eye on the professor across the hall and come’s up with all kinds of ways to get her to help him out.
When baby Isaac shows up you completely fall in love with this amazing couple. James and Harper’s story is funny, sexy, makes you laugh and makes you cry. I didn’t want this one to end, such an amazing story.
I just loved this book. James and Harper’s story was really everything you could ask for. Super hot firefighter/musician hybrid Smart, sassy nerdy girl A fun, well written story Witty banter Plenty of sparks generated by sizzling chemistry Lots of emotions Steam Humor Swoon worthy romance It was so great to return to get a new entry in this delightful. All the books are standalones but trust me when I say that once you get a taste you will need more!!
Getting Off Easy is such a fun, enjoyable read!
And it all started with an olive tree…
This book is filled with humorous moments, unexpected situations and two characters that have incredible chemistry as they navigate all the obstacles thrown at them.
It is their mutual thoughtfulness and caring nature that has brought Harper and James closer throughout this story. They find a way to mutually care for a tree, a lizard, a puppy and a surprise that you will have to read the book to find out about. I highly recommend this book! You will not be disappointed!
I would give this book 100 stars if I could, it was that good.
I love everything that Ms. Nicholas writes, but there was just something about this one that really pulled me in. Harper Broussard is definitely my new favorite heroine.
This book is so well written and the characters are so well thought out. You feel like you are right there going through everything with them.
Definitely one of my all-time favorite books!

This contemporary romance featuring a slightly older woman and a younger man is book four of the Boys of the Big Easy and can be read as a standalone.
The author wonderfully created James Reynard as the perfect book boyfriend. He is a fire-fighter, a talented musician and not to mention the dependable guy whom everybody goes to when they need someone to help them out. You can’t help but swoon for this man.
Harper Broussard, an accomplished linguistics professor likes everything in order; she has a plan A, B and C in every situation. She has never been in love and is quite happy reading her romance books. Although she is very much aware of her hottie neighbour, she brushes off his obvious attempts at flirting until someone left a baby outside his door. Now she found herself roped in into helping him solve his dilemma.
The first half of the book was quite slow and I had to push myself into reading it further along. Thank goodness there was more exciting banter after 50%. But I give the author extra points in character development. The narrative style switches back from six months ago to the present every chapter which was clearly defined and not at all confusing.
As Harper overthought a lot of things, I sometimes felt like skimming through the paragraphs simply because I was dying to know what would happen next. It is quite ironic that for a woman who loves romance novels, her reaction was not quite heartfelt when she decided that James was the one for her. Maybe it is because she tries too hard in analysing her decisions and feelings that she comes off as too clinical.
It does get more interesting when they go on a mission to look for the baby’s mother, but I had some issues with the way they finally hooked up. The chemistry between these two can’t be denied but I longed for a more sweeping romance which I felt James deserved. The events that followed are quite hectic and makes up for the slow start but it was definitely worth the slog. I loved the epilogue and it all ends up in happy tears which that’ll make you quite emotional. A light-hearted story perfect for a lazy weekend read.
